First Hotel Christian IV0

We had a good sized room. The building is a beautiful ex Sparebank building situated alongside the Kristianstad Railway station and adjacent to the bus stop. It is also directly across the road from the Tivoli Gardens. The hotel is also very close to lots of restaurants and bars. The bathroom is a little old but the shower and bathroom work very well and are a good size. The room has a good desk with plenty of well positioned power points and there are USB power outlets on the bedside tables. The bed was very comfortable but may be a bit soft for some (not too soft for me). We had a small Juliette balcony and the hotel has some lovely period features especially in the common areas of the ground floor. The hotel has a number of free parking spaces across the road which are easily accessed. Parking spaces are a bit limited so be early. If the windows are closed the room is quiet and well insulated from adjoining rooms. We were given bottles of water and sweets in the room. The WiFi was fast and reliable but you regularly had to sign in and accept the Ts&Cs.

The hotel doesn't have air conditioning which can be an issue on hot nights and opening the windows allows the noise in from the street. However, we did have a fan which helped. Our room wasn't cleaned or made up while we were there. Breakfast was not up to scratch. The bacon and eggs were cold and the coffee was undrinkable. There was a lack of fresh fruit and many items ran out including coffee cups and plates during breakfast. No pastries or jams. The hair dryer was an old fashioned wall mount unit that should have been relegated to a museum. There was no plug in the hand basin so shaving was a problem.

The breakfast buffet was exceptional, and the hotel had a delightful old-world atmosphere. The staff were friendly, and the hotel lobby was thoughtfully decorated. A fantastic place to stay!

My only quarrel was with the noisy, though charming, "musical" traffic lights, directly outside of the property. Depending on which room you stay in, you may find the music is audible during the night. This is only a minor issue, however, and would not put me off staying at the hotel in the future.

Excellent location, good staff and spacious and clean rooms. Big bathroom and a wide mirror. Good shower.

It's time to start updating the interior. Broken tiles in the hall, old appliances in the rooms and old furniture. Individually these things would give the hotel character but all together not so much. especially when charging high season rates. Sewer smell coming from the fire escape at one point.

I stayed for a week and enjoyed the stay very much. It’s a grand, old building with spacious rooms. Very clean and the furniture is modern and comfy. The breakfast is very good and the lobby bar serves drinks until late. There is free parking included and the location is right between a park and the city center.

Cool breakfast, really helpful personnel and incredible building where the hotel is located. Being close to the central station, the hotel is very convenient for any local travels. I appreciate great help with any small requests like printing docs.

Minor disappointment comes from deficiencies of bath equipment that anyway does not change much in my overall impression. Those might be fixed easily, I believe. Our stay was expensive, but the hotel provides really great comfort.

Super helpful staff. Free super delicious cucumber ice water and coffee and pastries in the reception. Beautiful bed room with a view over the park. Perfect location by the central station.

The bathroom was clean and functional but not very modern. The breakfast was quite average but maybe it was just less variety for some reason as other reviewers have praised it (but the free delicious cucumber water and plate of free pastry in the reception was an unexpected bonus!).

Location. The excellent coffee. Nice breakfast. Lovely staff. The hotel room was very large and clean. The bed was very comfortable. We would stay there again.

There were no drawers or dressing table. We had to keep our clothes in the suitcases because there was no where to put them. There was a hat/ coat stand with coathangers but you cannot put knickers and socks on that.

Position, breakfast, staff friendliness and helpfulness, heavy drapery on windows.

Hotel's a bit stuffy and in need of renovation: it clearly used to be a Grand Hotel, but many years ago. It's clean and the single room would be a double in Paris, but everything looks very, very dated.

First Hotel Christian 4 is in a perfect position to explore Kristianstad, right next to the bus and rail stations but without any noise from either. The whole town; restaurants, bars, shops are within easy walking distance and the park and Nature reserve across the road are a great place to relax and spot wildlife.

No air conditioning, I can imagine these rooms being extremely hot during the heat of summer. There was a table fan in the room which helped a little.
