The location of the place is excellent and very quiet, and the view from the roof is breathtaking. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly as well, with a very nice introduction on how things work. The view from the breakfast restaurant is very nice as well. There is a spacious park around the venue that invites for a relaxing walk. The shared bathrooms were clean and in good shape. The value was off the charts on this one -- I got much more than what I expected and a nice stay for a very reasonable price.

The old-style room keys are a bit clunky and not as easy to handle as more modern keycards. The hotel layout is a bit unusual and my room was only reachable via terrace, and if you're tall you may have to protect your head on the way to the rooms as the ceiling is a bit low in certain places.

Wonderful location. 10 min by bus from Fribourg railway station with a very frequent bus service, bus stop 5 min from the hotel. Easy to arrive by car either. Tranquil oasis on a hill in the middle of the city. Ideal to explore Fribourg or for hiking (it stands practically on ViaJacobi). From our room there was a nice view with lamas and sheep on the slope of the hill below our window. No-frills room, designed for a short business stays, is small but sufficient, and for the region the price seems to be fair. Very good soundproofing. Very welcoming staff, speaking perfect English. Breakfast is OK, also very simple but sufficient. Restaurant is closed on weekends, but we can recommend an Italian restaurant Le Loft 5 min from the hotel.

Room is designed for one-person stay, and has a very limited storage space. It even has only one bedside lamp rather than two (contrary to the photos on Booking). However, for a short stay is OK. At breakfast, food was not always timely replenished and tables cleaned up.

The hotel is located on top of a hill on large grounds. It has a modernized interior and is kept spotlessly clean up to its very last corner. One still feels the Jesuit heritage; in fact, the order still owns the premises, but exploitation rights have been transferred to a social enterprise in Fribourg who also uses the place for seminars and to help people in difficulties. This secularization of purpose is also the reason the original "Notre-Dame de la route" was dropped from the name. I very much enjoyed the tranquility and peace that the compound exudes. There are no frills, but everything there is works to perfection. The continental breakfast is excellent, very fresh, on a wonderfully presented buffet. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended; the hotel is within walking distance to the sports center.

The on-premise restaurant is closed during the weekend, and walking to the recommended (very average) restaurant takes about 15 minutes along a busy road. At the time of writing, the place is listed as "Domaine Notre-Dame de la Route Swiss Lodge" on Google maps, and locals still know it as "Notre-Dame de la route," just in case you need to ask for directions.

The lodge is a hidden gem at the outskirts of Fribourg. It consists of very modern, quiet, clean rooms and facilities, including convention rooms. The rooms are reasonably priced and the fact that the bathrooms are not within the rooms, is not necessarily a withdrawal. To my opinion, it is perfectly okay, not to have TVs in the rooms , there is a good internet connection in the common areas, I feel that is more than enough for getting in touch with people. Pets are free of charge and a spacious pet poop area with poop bags is provided. The staff is young, friendly motivated and helpful. Surrounded is the lodge by well kept gardens, some bee hives, sheep, goats and very cute acapulcas. There is also a restaurant in the building that provides a buffet style breakfast every day, as well as lunches and dinners a la carte Monday through Friday. I investigated and found out that this lodge was a former Jesuit convent that was taken over and converted into a lodge by a society who’s aim is to reintegrate people with handicap, hence it is a win/win situation for all. Chapeau!

There is absolutely nothing not to like about this place.

Great family room for four, with bunk bed room off the main room. We had 2 adult children with us. Lots of space. Good sized bathroom, and extra toilets and showers across the hall were useful when getting ready quickly. Lovely selection of breakfast food and gluten-free options. Delicious gluten-free rolls. Bus stop nearby for quick trip to the centre of town. Lovely grounds and great views of the mountains. We'll return when visiting family in the city.

Nice room, comfortable bed. Minimalistic, i like that. Interesting offer that when you choose to have your room cleaned less frequently, you get vouchers for drinks. Breakfast very good and a lot of choise.

Washing basin and space to put your toiletries is ver small. Coffee/tea making facilities in the room would have been fine. No mini bar, but staff was helpful to freeze our accus for our cooling box. Restaurant is closed in the weekend.

A building surrounded by nature, with also a restaurant. You can enjoy a nice breakfast and interact with the various animals outside the structure. It's an extremely peaceful place. Free parking available, which is a plus

I was expecting a little bit more variety in terms of breakfast and maybe the absence of air conditioning might be problematic in the hottest days. But it's just small details.

Everything from how clean everything was to how we were received and attended both at the check-in and check-out were phenomenal. The staff is very friendly, the breakfast very good and complete, and the bathroom was also very comfortable to use. Also, they didn't charge anything extra for our dog!

My only complaint is about the pillows, they are too big/high for myself, but I should have asked for a different one!

Simple but very clean and comfortable room with modern, nice shower and toiletries. Very peaceful and quiet area with views toward the garden and sheep and lama grazing outside. The breakfast buffet was wonderful with great choice of breads, fruit, juices, jams, yogurts, etc. and nice coffee! :) The reception people were very kind and they even let us check-in earlier since we arrived there early.

It is very clear that the team is putting their heart and soul into everything - so much care you can feel everywhere, the food is excellent, and the environment absolutely splendid with a nice, accessible terrace in front of the restaurant.

The Wifi doesn't reach every corner well, but it's because it's an old building - not much they can do.
