We stayed for one week in this beautiful environment of Taroko Gorge National Park. Great to be immersed in peace. The manager and staff were very friendly, approachable and helpful. There's a hotline phone to the main manager, Johnny, at any time. He helped us out and rang people for advice if he didn't know. The hotel is right near the bus stop to Taroko national Park/Hualien routes.. We enjoyed excellent access to the national park, and nearby restaurants. Liwu Hotel has a good quality breakfast and free tea and coffee anytime. We felt comfortable socialising in the common area. Johnny kindly allowed us to use the washing machine, drying area and kitchen. We felt very at home and there was good security. The room was very clean and housekeeping provided on request.

Liwu Hotel felt out -of -the -way and part of Taroko's small community, but the disadvantage might affect capacity for upgrading facilities. The bathroom was difficult to ventilate properly.

The location is ideal for visiting Taroko Gorge. There are several food choices within walking distance. Our room at the 5th floor is spacious. Bed is comfortable. Shower pressure is good. The staff are very helpful. Johnny speaks fluent English.

Would have been better if there was a lift. I fractured my foot during the stay and it was fortunate for me that it was only 2 flights of stairs for me.

Liwu Hotel is a five minute walk away from the Taroko Gorge Visitor’s center and a 30-minute walk away from the park’s famous Shakadang Trail. You can’t get any better location-wise than this. It is also walking distance from a 7-Eleven where there is an international ATM and trail snacks as well as great restaurants. The staff was very friendly, location is clean, and the breakfast was tasty, too! I am so thankful to the staff who, when I left my water bottle in the room were kind enough to send it to my next hotel.

The beds were a bit stiff. However, everything about our stay was very good.

We used this hotel for one night after we expected to leave the park. It is a clean an comfortable basic hotel. The room was large and safe. The location is incredibly close to the park; less than 5 minutes by car. It is almost as convenient for visiting the park as hotels within the park itself. This hotel has the advantage of a nice town with many gas and food options. We arrived a little after 6:00PM. There was some what of a contactless check-in procedure that we did not expect. It took a few phone calls to work it out. The person at the other end spoke English well. We were able to arrange an early checkout which was very helpful.

Check-in might be unsettling if you do not have an international calling plan.

Great location. The trails in Taroko are just minutes away. Some food stalls and restaurants nearby. Lobby is something of the loveliest I've seen so far. A lot of wood and big windows. Having a cup of coffee outside gives you the right impression. Breakfast is simple but incredibly nice. The room was spacious with a big bath. The staff is very kind and attentive. I felt very welcome.

Booking said I have a room with city view. Well, a wall a meter away from the window counts as a part of the city to be fair.

We had a great stay at this hotel that is minutes from the park. There’s plenty of restaurants close by and you get breakfast as well. It was great hanging out on the lovely wooden handmade tables looking at the green mountains. We really enjoyed talking to Erna who works there as she is a very sweet women. It’s also super clean and great sheets and towels.

I don’t think hotels should offer toothbrushes or combs anymore. People should just bring their own or go buy one.

Overall, all went very well. The staff were very nice and helpful, the breakfast was a perfect foundation for hiking in the Taroko Gorge, and the accommodation was roomy. Moreover, the hotel location is great. My wife and I would certainly stay at the Liwu Hotel if we returned to his area.

The bathroom floor got quite wet because the shower is integrated with the sink and toilet. What would have helped to minimize the lake created by showering is having a squeegee available to push water to the drain.

We had a nice room at the back with a mountain view. The beds and pillows were good quality and comfortable. The location was good, it was quiet, and the bus into the park stopped outside the hotel.

We stayed for 5 nights but because the hotel was not busy for 3 mornings we had an individual breakfast box. These were ok. The staff did apologise for this. As it was off season (May) only 1 restaurant was open in the village (1min from hotel) only from6.00pm to 7.00pm but the food was excellent. But that closed on Saturday night so it was a 7eleven meal!

I like the location of the hotel. Its very near to the Tarako National Parc. It allows you to hike and explore the Tarako Valley easily. I also like the fact that we can check in without having to talk to someone and that the owner allow us to pay the bill the next day, not right away when we arrive. It feels like there is a trust relationship there.

For breakfast, it would be great to have drinks other than coffee or tea...preferably something without cafeine. Another point for the breakfast, it would be great if the menu changes everyday (I had two breakfasts and it was exactly the same for the two days : smashed potatoes, tomatoes + orange, salad).

Don’t listen to the detractors, this place is an incredible value! Large rooms, clean beds, tv, ac. What else do you need? It’s also right next to the entrance to the national park. Do yourself a favor and rent a motorbike at the train station (you don’t need an IDP there) it’s a great way to see the park.

Breakfast is alright, a bagel and salad and some fruit. Coffee and tea. If you’re not about the simple breakfast, don’t fret, there’s a 7-11 just a 1 or 2 minute walk down the road.
