The location is close to the national park which is the most important thing when you come here. The food at the bar is very good and reasonably priced. They do a lot of activities like night walks and they can take you to their feeding stations/hides where you can observe a great number of animals and take close photos of them.

The only negative bit we had is that when leaving they offered us transport to the nearest town so that we could get a minivan to Bangkok. However, the driver that took us to the town spoke very little English and so did the minivan driver. So we ended up in a situation where we just jumped into a van without knowing exactly where in Bangkok we were going to be dropped. And it happened that the van guy just dropped us 10km outside of Bangkok :(. There are other people in the lodge with good English, I feel it would have been best if they would use the staff that can speak good English for the bus transfers, or at least make a handsfree call so that we could interact with the minivan driver and ask details about the trip.

The room was large with a big table. Kettle to make hot drinks The room is designed to be dark to keep it cool and so has bedside lamps. Their is A/C and a fan so you can choose what you prefer. The ensuite bathroom is lovely.. The verandah is great for sitting and reading or watching the birds squirrel and chipmunks. The staff are very helpful and the food at the restaurant is excellent. The lodge is not far from Kreang Kachang national park. The staff will help you organise trips into the park.

Nothing to fault. Although the price seems expensive for a two star property the villas are big, well designed and comfortable. The whole place is well set up for bird watchers and nature lovers.

Comfortable lodge with beautiful grounds and excellent management. Night walk was delightful.

Beware. The lodge is absolutely serious that they cannot guarantee availability of guides for Kaeng Krachan. They work with only 3 oversubscribed guides. Official scheduled tours of Kaeng Krachan do not exist. Neither the lodge nor the park HQ could offer any tour or guide, private or shared, during my 3-day stay during the week, and a couple of other guests were in the same situation. This was surprising and disappointing and feels like a failure of the KK ecotourism sector - at the very least money is being left on the table. Again: this is not a specific criticism of Baan Maka, which seems to be the best lodge in the area.

This is such a lovely place for birders and nature lovers. The area is beautiful, their grounds are well kept. You can walk in the garden, do a little nature trail and go to a nice viewpoint. Breakfast starts at 5.30, so after you can immediately go birding. We went 4 days with Games, a fantastic guide that showed us so much. We went to Kaeng Krachan, but also to other places such as Pak Thale. We saw the spoon-billed sandpiper there. Really special! Baan Maka can also bring you to some hides in the area for a reasonable price. That was also a nice experience. You can also go on a night walk around the property. The room is basic, bit has everything you need. The bed is really good and airco worked perfectly. After 6 nights, we still didn't want to leave. We might come back some other time, to see pitta's and broadbills in the nesting season. Thanks Games, Ian and staff for an amazing experience. Also a shout out to the chefs. The food is amazing. Try the som tam, coconut soup, spring rolls, vegetable tempura and panang!

Everything This is the second time I'm visiting Baan Maka it is what you're looking for if you're planning a tour at Kaeng Krachan National Park, that is very close to the place, for birdwatching or discovering nature and wildlife in Thailand. The staff was superb as always, young people with such an huge concern for our needs. Also they are very prepared if you'd like vegetarian or vegan dishes. Towels were changed frequently and they also provided a laundry service. Staying, sleeping, eating and birding here were all things that we enjoyed Other services provided by the structure that we really appreciated: Guide for the National Park trip, Bird hides, Car service to reach hides in specific areas. Thank You for everything Baan Maka, we're looking forward for the next trip

We contacted the lodge and they arranged our transportation from our condo in Hua Hin to the lodge. The lodge is beautiful, clean and peaceful with lots of beautiful birds and butterflies.   The lodge arranged Piak, our very knowledgeable guide and the perfect truck as transport to the fabulous National Park.   At the lodge, we enjoyed the challenging trek up to the Viewpoint on their trail.  The lodge also arranged our transport to Bangkok.  So everything was perfectly arranged and convenient for us. We had two nights at the lodge, perfect for us, who are not birders.

Perfect place

The staff is super friendly and the lodge is beautiful with big gardens full of wildlife. Very close to the national park. The owner was super kind to come and pick us up at Phetchaburi for a decent price and even organised for us a last minute guided visit in the park for the day after our arrival. The food was delicious (some of the veggies we had were grown in their own garden!) and the rooms super clean. Thank you for this amazing stay, we loved every minute of it !

As the place is a bit remote (that's why we loved it), it's quite uneasy to reach and move around if you don't have your own car. Also, don't forget to withdraw some cash before you arrive

Our three-night stay at Baan Maka Nature Lodge was the perfect jumping off location for two days of visits to Kaeng Krachan National Park. While our room was not fancy, it was more than adequate and very clean. We appreciated having both an air conditioner and a fan. The staff were very accommodating and the on-site restaurant served delicious meals. We also highly recommend the night tour that was arranged by the lodge. It was the best night tour we have ever taken!

Having the beds on top of a platform made it a bit difficult to get in and out.

Incredible staff and location! Lake was dry during our stay, but the grounds and outdoor spaces are still stunning. The rooms are comfortable and the food at the restaurant was delicious! By far some of the best curries we’d had in Thailand with fresh vegetables from the on-site garden. The homemade bread at the included breakfast was also a highlight. Above all, we had an amazing morning tour of Kaeng Krachan with Games and cannot recommend highly enough! So excited to return in another season!

I visit this nature Lodge every two or three months. It's so beautiful and peaceful that I never want to leave. My favourite thing in the lodge is the steep hill that you can climb and when you are on top, you see the breath-taking landscape. Also, you can observe different bird and insect species in their natural habitat and check out the books about them in the restaurant. By the way, the restaurant cooks food using the organic ingredients from their own farm (which you can visit, too, where you can watch the sunset with the beer you get from the Tingky Bar in the farm area), and my favourite dishes are Salted Fried Chicken and Panang Curry Chicken. Try these dishes out!

April is very hot and dry in Kaeng Krachan, so I think it's not the best time to visit. I recommend May and June when the showers begin especially if you want to escape the heat. In May, the temperature drops at night to fifteen to thirteen C, and fireflies appear, too! Also, don't expect to see TV in your room, this place is for a peaceful escape in nature. But a mini frige would be a good addition to keep your water or leftover food cold, unfortunately the rooms don't have that either. Some rooms don't include a water heater in the bathroom, so please ask before you go if you don't like taking cold showers.
