Location on the Homer spit is scenic and convenient to restaurants, the harbor, and water taxis. Large room gave us plenty of space to spread out and organize our gear. The structure is supported on pilings above the beach; water swirls beneath it at high tide. Virginia, the owner, called us on our way to Homer to let us know that an unusually windy storm was whipping up heavy surf under the building; she graciously arranged for us to stay at another inn that night because of the noise of the storm. Fortunately, we were able to switch back to the Shack Inn for the remaining nights, and much enjoyed our stay.

the property was amazing, the location could not be beat! we woke to the most beautiful scenery every morning. we had 5 with us 3 adults, one adult sized 15 year old and a 9 year old and we all fit comfortably. the accommodations and management were amazing! I can’t say enough good about it.

the exterior made me quest my choice until I walked in and I was pleasantly surprised. also because the way it is heated the person next to the heater was cooking but the people behind the door in the bedroom were chilled but there were plenty of blankets and a large fan to work through that.

The room is decorated very cute, especially considering it's above a bait & tackle shop! Very well stocked with everything we might need. The hostess was super friendly & down to earth. We had minor issues with the wi-fi and hot water, but both were taken care of quickly & cheerfully. I'd definitely stay there again!

It was a little noisy when the fishermen got up early to go fishing. Not much soundproofing. But we just snuggled back under the covers & went back to sleep when they left and it got quiet again.

When you get to 3815 Homer spit it is not obvious to see where the shack inn is… but you quickly ask around and find Sean and his wife. They have transformed the upper floor of their house into 2 or 3 guest rooms. We had the family room that was spacious and perfect for us 4. Two queen beds in the main room where you have a kitchenette and a dining room, 1 separate bedroom with a twin bed. Everything inside works well, the decoration is very nice, the view as well, and the possibility to access the beach for a walk until the end of the spit- very pleasant. We both enjoyed the restaurants nearby and the kitchen for home cooking (which was a nice option given the very expensive prices to dine out). The location is great, close to shops, excursions departures. It is quiet at night and yes you hear the sound of the waves. Owners were great friendly and helpful. Great stay

Not much to say. Maybe the price but everything is so expensive in alaska that overall the room does not look overpriced

great spot on the spit, just 1/4 mile from the more touristy shops and the like . It is above the bait and tackle shop. Don't let that scare you the few rooms above are done simply but all essentials, clean, comfortable, spacious and quiet rooms with an amazing view. The hosts are invaluable for day trips and inside scoop for everything Homer. A great spot to end our two-week Alaskan trip.

The location of the Shack Inn is perfect! Right on the Homer Spit, with restaurants, shopping and all of the benefits of the Homer Spit (i.e. Fishing, Charters etc..) right near by. We loved the rooms, the owners did a renovation last year and the rooms are spacious, beautifully appointed and the views are AMAZING! And the owners, staff were extremely friendly and just so helpful to us! I give this my absolute HIGHEST Rating!

Really, there wasn't anything we didn't like.

It’s this perfect dreamy location on Homer Spit literally ten feet from the ocean. The rooms are spacious, gorgeously furnished— a little boho paradise, the beds are beyond comfortable with lots of soft blankets, and spotlessly clean. The hosts are so friendly and so genuine that they felt like old friends. We hated to leave, truly; I wish I could fall asleep listening to the ocean every night. To steal a phrase from people 20 years younger, the vibes are immaculate.

The barn doors. Especially into the bathroom. Very little privacy. You can see into the bathroom, specifically the toilet, through the cracks of the barn doors which don't come close to fully closing. Makes things pretty awkward at times...

Location is awesome. walking distance to all the shops and cafe on the spit. Right on the water, great spot for beach combing. We watched the sea otters from the comfort of our room. Fully stocked kitchen and super comfortable bed!

Very small shower and room could be a bit cleaner. Shower wasn’t well cleaned and some of the dishes were dirty requiring that we rewash them. Pillows do not have protectors on them under pillowcases.

Such a beautiful location and very comfortable! Plus the couple that runs this place is so, so welcoming and sweet. We had a great stay!

The bed was a bit squeaky (the box spring, I think?) and it woke us up a few times but that is the only complaint. Otherwise, this place is perfect!!
