An older hotel with a lobby that is full of character. We stayed in the old wing with shared bathrooms, which we had no problem accessing. Room and bathroom were both good size and comfortable. Location is very close to Sealife center and several bars, restaurants, gift shops. Shuttle from railroad was efficient and the staff were lovely. They're really geared up for guests dropping their baggage when the railroad gets in in the morning but check in is 4pm

Given that this is on the affordable end of accommodation in Seward, we really enjoyed our stay. Sprinkler system pipes on the room ceiling etc look rather old fashioned, so if you're all about clean lines maybe this is not for you! There is a bar and restaurant, but other options close by seemed more attractive. Breakfast is available at the sister hotel over the street, but again, we used other options close by.

I loved the pillow-top bed mattress, the cozy classic decor, the historic Seward photographs throughout the hotel, the 24-hour coffee, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the location in the midst of everything in downtown Seward, the fantastic scenery, etc. Also, the complimentary fitness center next to the hotel is wonderful, with a good variety of modern cardio and weight and exercise rooms plus classes

Slight musty smell in the lobby when I first arrived, likely due to the hotel being pretty much not used during the winter. However, the smell rapidly abated once windows were opened and the lobby was aired out.

This cozy hotel became my home away from home during many weekends last winter while working on my ship in the shipyard. It was so rewarding enjoying weekends off in this exceptional place meeting my high European quality standards. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful, beds very comfy and there is the bonus of having wine glasses and ice bucket ready in the room (which is not a standard of many American hotels). The location is perfect especially for those not having car. I can't wait to be back with you guys!

The bar and restaurant I peeked into looked very nice. Would have been nice being able to get a meal and drink there but I fully understand the staff shortage during harsh Alaskan winter. Hopefully next time. Also, modernizing the vending machines might be helpful to many guests as I always ran out of 1ones with my soda addiction! Would be nice being able to pay with a credit card.

Clean room and friendly staff.

Their shuttle service could be more flexible. We weren't sure how we were going to get to the harbor for our day cruise that left at 8:45 a.m. The hotel people said that their shuttle would not be available to take us because they don't start their shuttle service until 10 a.m. We talked with the shuttle driver personally, who was very nice, and he agreed to drive us. We could have walked, but due to 2 hip surgeries in the last year, I am on a cane and didn't want to risk re-injuring myself.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. We arrived kind of late and were offered a free upgrade on the ground floor, which was great because we had a lot of gear. The blackout curtains worked perfectly, which is important during Alaskan summers. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet. Breakfast was simple, but good. The location was near lots of restaurants, the Sea Life Center, and a nice walk along the coastline. We found easy parking for our truck and trailer in front of the police station one block away.

Excellent location! We checked in super late and Justin at the front desk made it super easy. The 3 bedroom house was very functional and a good fit for our party of 5. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was basic, and the bathroom was spacious. It was ideal for our one night stay in Seward.

The house was a bit dated and some areas just looked old, especially the kitchen. Also, homes with multiple rooms and a single bathroom seem to be common in Alaska, but that is far from ideal for a group of 5 persons.

Everything was very clean, the staff were super friendly and helpful and the location is great.

Little things were off that could easily be spruced up. 1) The electric fireplace lights worked but it didn’t heat. 2) The shower head was VERY old, which is great for aesthetics, but soaking it in vinegar would open up all of the plugged holes. So again…nothing costly, just some time to tend to some details. But, all in all a great place and would recommend to anyone!

I was impressed by the fact that when the maintenance guy did not show to fix the clogged tub drain, the manager came up himself to fix the problem. And that too with one arm in a sling. Now that is excellent service. He was also very helpful in providing suggestions for things to do (and avoid) on our way to Homer, which was our next stop

The lighting in the room was adequate, but could have been better. It did not really bother me though.

It was a great location in town. The hotel is a lovely old building that has been well maintained. Our room was comfortable. The staff was great, especially Victoria at the front desk. We loved Seward and would stay at the Hotel Seward again.

The night desk clerk was unable to find my reservation when I called. He said the manager would call me back in an hour which never happened; I don't know who dropped the ball there.
