The room was perfect for our one night stay. We booked a King suite and appreciated the separate living area. The room was nice and quiet with room darkening shades. The breakfast was the most complete we have had since the pandemic. We travel quite a bit and most hotels are still doing cheap grab and go continental breakfasts. This full breakfast was a welcome surprise.

The room only had one blanket on the bed and there were no extras in the room. We didn't discover this until we were already dressed for bed, but we called downstairs and the front desk staff member was quick to deliver two extra blankets to our room. We were very satisfied with this service.

The young woman who worked the reception desk in the evenings was exceptional - friendly, accommodating, and she always wore her mask.

The man at the desk in the mornings was personable enough but he never wore a mask. I asked him why he didn’t and he pointed to the counter top and said “oh, I have it right here.” I told him it didn’t do any good if he didn’t wear it, but he still didn’t put it on. He is the only reason I wouldn’t stay there again - I didn’t appreciate being put in danger.

The buffet breakfast is top notch: Both cold and hot foods. And the eating area is comfortable and rather festive -- thanks to an energetic employee who keeps things going (bringing in additional food, asking if anyone needs anything and removing used utensils. It is really a first class operation. And, at 83, I have seen a lot of breakfast accommodations in various grades of hotels.

They used to have a restroom adjacent to the dining area that diners could use. That restroom is now for use by EMPLOYEES ONLY. There is no restroom in the lobby or any other public area. This means that if one has to use a restroom, one has to return to ones own room to do so (which could be on the third floor, quite a distance from the dining area -- which is contiguous to the reception/lobby area). I have been using this facility for over 15 years. This was a poor change.

This was a great place to stay! It’s a bit far if you’re going to be in LA every day so prepare for traffic, but the price made it totally worth it. Very clean and comfortable room and facilities. I felt very safe while on the property. All of the staff were really friendly and breakfast was the best part of the day because we got to talk to Elies! She runs the breakfast services and is so fun to talk to and gave us really great suggestions for parking and other things to do around our planned activities. All around a really great place to stay, especially if all you’re planning to do is sleep and eat breakfast.

It’s clean and not far from downtown Pasadena, basically about 10 minutes down Colorado Blvd. It’s also close to Eaton Canyon. The woman who tends the breakfast in the morning is so awesome!!! She makes sure everyone is happy and taken care of. She is incredibly nice and friendly.

If I had to say something, and this is so minor and not much can be done, is the parking lot is really tight. The spots are so narrow.

THE BREAKFAST WAS GREAT EVERY MORNING. THANK GOD FOR A WONDERFUL UP SPIRITED, HOST THAT MADE SURE ALL GUEST WAS HAPPY AND COMFORTABLE, SHE ALSO KEEP ALL THE FOODS STOCKED AS HOT FOODS GOT LOW FROM EVERYONE ENJOYING THEIR BREKFAST. SHE HAD AN GREAT ATTITUDE AND AN GREAT ASSET TO THE HOTEL.

There wasn't anything I didn't like.

Everything was wonderful, (5 stars) The staff were professional and courteous to guest. it was our first time traveling with grandchildren. The morning breakfast was great and on time for my grandsons, all their favorite items were on the menu presentation. The sofa bed was perfect for our little guys to stretch out on, and the had their own TV to navigate. They enjoyed the pool and elevator (giggles) Our memories made with them were priceless.

Since we had road traveled most of the day, and were only staying one night, it would have great to have the pool/jacuzzi area be available to us for longer hours since it closed at 8pm. I am used to pool/spa hours being available until 10pm. These early closing hours was huge disappointment for our grandsons (age 6 and 4) who really love water play before bedtime, they only had 45 minutes, as we were respectful of the rules for the pool.

Staff was great. Breakfast was exceptional. We have stayed in many hotels offering breakfast and usually the food is ok. This time the eggs were terrific and food was fresh. It's probably because the woman in charge was extremely attentive to what needed refilling, getting you what you want and keeping the area exceptionally well. She is one staff member you definitely want to keep and pay accordingly. It's hard to get great help.

The first night, someone parked on the disability ramp for wheelchairs (a no parking zone) which meant those needing the ramp could not use it. Second afternoon, someone was parked in the middle of 2 spaces right across from the office. We complained at the desk to find out that it was one of the staff members who then reparked his car. We realize that the spaces are fairly narrow, but he blamed it on the bushes, If he felt the bushes were too close to the space, he should have parked in different space or parked facing forward instead of backing in making it easier to get out of his car. It wasn't that his red car wasn't already in need of repair/paint. After that experience, I wondered who the car the first night belonged to.

This hotel has one of the friendliest staffs of any hotel we have ever stayed in. You can tell that every person working there is trying hard to make sure you have a good experience, which is something rarely seen these days, especially at a Best Western level hotel. In addition to the wonderful staff, the rooms were clean and quiet and the hot breakfast was very good. Our "suite" room had a door between the living area with the sofa bed and the bedroom, providing extra privacy that is not always found in rooms where someone is sleeping on the sofa. The king bed was firm but very comfortable. As is usually the case, the sofa bed was not very comfortable for an adult but would have been fine for kids. The location of the hotel is conveniently close to old town Pasadena, the Rose Bowl and other attractions in the area. Thank you to all the staff members who are working hard to make the Royale a great place to stay.

We had a pleasant stay, the room was spacious and clean. The breakfast and the breakfast attendant were the highlight of our time, we were greeted with a joyful smile and cheery “good morning!” The attendant made sure there was always more food, asked several times if there was anything she could help us with, and even helped with our kids and was gracious with the messes they made. If we return, it will be specifically for the breakfast and the joyful breakfast attendant!
