Inn of the Lost Coast provides some of the best views and sounds of this part of the Lost Coast from the safe enclosure of your inviting room. The outdoor hot tub was awesome, whether it was foggy or clear, they kept it at 104 to keep you relaxed and piping hot. The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows. The outdoor grill was a great bonus, so we could cook. And we liked Lauren, who made us feel right at home, and keeps a good eye on the property.

The question is, what’s not to love about Inn of the Lost Coast? They truly do their best to ensure a pleasant stay, with all amenities out in the middle of nowhere! You can feel the caring, from everyone working on the property, whether it’s the pizza makers or the baristas downstairs.

The view was INCREDIBLE and the room clean and beachy comfortable. Impressed that the bathroom was updated and shower great c

Coffee maker small and didn’t work, but the only issue. The restaurant across the street from us was HORRIBLE- filet migon well and looked like flank steak, potatoes bad and they gave us a shrimp appetizer when we arrived and didn’t order, so we thought it was complimentary and brought my husband something else he didn’t order. Thank goodness the room and location were so excellent we just wrote off our dining experience

Location and view is fantastic. I enjoyed the wildlife in the area as well. We got to see a fox inspecting all the vehicles for open windows in the parking lot…he found one too.

Room was very dated with exposed plumbing in main space and bathroom. For $325 a night you would think they had at least a vending machine or continental breakfast. There is a small cafe, outdoor seating only that is owned separately. We were told they served breakfast at 6:30am but were closed the day we were there. You are basically on your own here, there is no real services other than your room.

Great view!

They were doing construction work and at one time set up a scaffolding in front of our room. There was no pretense of privacy that morning and afternoon. This was on a day that we had decided to stay in and just enjoy the view. I thought that was pretty rude given that we were paying a lot of money primarily for that view! It's a hotel with a stellar view, but given it was off season, I thought the rates were a bit much for that time of year. Though they had a little cafe downstairs, there was no breakfast included. How hard--and at that price--would it have been to offer a cup of complimentary coffee and a croissant as a part of the stay.

Breakfast isn't served, but there's a cafe that's open for breakfast right on the property for good coffee and food. The room was spacious with an amazing balcony with a great view of the sea, a kitchenette with a fridge and microwave. We saw beautiful sunsets every night. There's also a good pizza joint and an amazing restaurant across the street.

Everything was great.

The ocean view was by far the very best. The patio furniture was extremely sturdy and comfortable. The showers were very hot and plenty of hot water. The mini fridge worked perfect, did not freeze my food. Everyone wore a mask, including other guests, which was respectful. The entire town is great to stroll through and not crowded in March. The black sand beach is within walking distance of hotel and the highlight of the entire trip. This hotel should consider renting bicycles. The manager, Lauren, is kind and accommodating.

More pictures of the types of rooms with better descriptions. Especially understanding which floors the rooms are on. A lot more pictures of the property would have been better and when certain things like hot tub and firepit will be open again. Any whale spottings posted on website would be a huge enticer to drive back.

The view of course was the primary reason for being there and it was beautiful.

If there was a way to close the sliding door and still let the breeze and the ocean sounds in that would have been helpful like a screen door. There was a slight concern for security because there were male occupants upstairs but my sister and I improvised.

Peaceful spot. The balconies facing the ocean are a great place to relax. The brewery has good food and outside dining. Walk to the black sand beach. Renovated bathroom is nicer than I expected.

Bed and bedding are just ok.

Shelter Cove is a lovely place to visit. Our view of the ocean from our private deck was awesome. However, the road from Garberville to Shelter Cove is 24 miles, and it takes 46 minutes. Come prepared.
