we love the location of silver gate lodging. staying in a fully equipped cabin makes it really easy to prepare meals and have easy access to the park. we always see plenty of wildlife as well. it is only 3 miles from Cooke City where there are a few restaurants to pick from

Proximity to Yellowstone NP, friendly staff and a small store at the facility so that we could buy some essentials
The room we booked showed a photo with a kitchen, but when we arrived, the room we were allocated to did not have one. The situation was eventually resolved and we got a free "upgrade" to a room with a kitchen (the staff was very friendly during the entire situation), but it took time and we felt a bit mislead by the original posting.

Loved the location and cabin was so cute! The gift shop general store wonderful too. Everyone was nice. Thank you for a great stay! Thank
A cleaning fee was charged as part of the room cost and added on the day after we arrived. This ending up being very expensive $330.

We stayed in the older Whispering Pines section, rustic cabin WP10, “The Love Shack” built with hand hewn boards & re-purposed windows & doors, next to the river, loved it! The imperfections are part of its charm. It’s private & very cozy with comfortable bed & linens. Loved the thick duvet, as in early June the nights are cold at this elevation. The propane heater was quiet & kept the cabin warm. There was plenty of hot water for showers & it was very neat & clean. The kitchen was sparse, but has everything you truly need: pots & pans, drip coffee maker, toaster, utensils & pretty ceramic plates, wine glasses & a nice stove & oven. The wildlife is nearby, so do not leave your pets unattended, or off leash! We had two moose at our picnic table in the morning! ( and evidence of bison) A real treat!! Off the deck is a fire pit, picnic table & log chairs to relax in when the weather is nice. The terrain is natural & the yard is not groomed, it is closer to a cabin in the wilderness experience.
There is no overhang on the front porch or the back deck overlooking the river so you can’t use the nice woodchairs as they get soggy when it rains.

We did a 12 day tour of the West staying in a different place every night. This was our favorite place we stayed. Very cute, clean and comfortable cabin. Very well stocked. We cooked over the fire pit that night and then roasted marshmallows. While we were sitting there, 2 buffalo just walked up into our camp. When we first got there our ceiling fan wasn't working and they sent someone over right away and got it fixed. My son rented a spotting scope for $20 and you could see up in the mountains all around you.
There is no internet or cell phone service. It was fine for one night. We talked and played cards and it was fun. If I had of been staying for longer, I would have liked to have those services. Not much to eat around there so bring your own food in.

Even though our stay was short, it was pretty awesome. We watched a buffalo walk right by our cabin. And the mountain scenery was picturesque and relaxing. The staff was extremely friendly and courteous. Would definitely stay again.
We had a bad experience getting there. We drove on beartooth highway for an hour before we found out the road was closed due to dynamiting and we could not get to Cooke city. We had no service so couldn't call the hotel so had to turn around and go back to Red Lodge. We finally got in touch with the lodge and got directions to avoid the closure. We got to the lodge at midnight. I'm not sure if the lodge knew about the closure, but it would have been nice to get some fore warning so we could have altered our route.

Liked the location, a little distance from the road, nice views. Especially enjoyed the outdoor firepit. Wood was a little pricey but well worth it!
Would have loved a king bed instead of two double beds, but that is a minor point. Also a fireplace would have made it exceptional.
