We really enjoyed our stay at The Secret Con Dao - it’s a clean and modern hotel, exactly as described in the pictures. You can hire scooters for 24 hours to get around the island for a small cost, which is great. The pool area was always very quiet and calm.

The staff were lovely and friendly but most of the front desk staff don’t speak English which did make things tricky at times. Also, they add a service charge onto the bill when you eat in the restaurant and we found out this service charge unfortunately doesn’t actually go direct to the staff which we were disappointed about. We did try to challenge it so we could tip our waiter directly so they got the money but they didn’t take it off the bill (I think this was because of the language barrier)

Location is central and is close to downtown. Balcony view is okay from the room but fourth floor level has excellent view. Room is spacious and bed is comfy and large. Bathroom design is odd, you can either have privacy for shower and toilet one at a time. Breakfast is abundance only on Saturdays and Sundays but not a lot of options on weekdays. Shuttle pickup is excellent and comforting after getting off the airport. Staff at the restaurants is accommodating and friendly.

A gentleman staff working at the bar slamming the cash register after payment is unprofessional. I have a sore throat and asked for a honey sliced ginger tea but he was agited because he does not know how to make it. Staff could use some training for communications with customers since this is a high end and luxury resort. Price is on a higher side compare to surrounding hotels.

The Secret was by far the most memorable experience in my Vietnam holiday. The accommodation is excellent, and the customer service is outstanding. I didn’t want to leave! The island is beautiful and unspoiled, and people are so friendly. I need to thank Anah and Thanh and staff who made our anniversary memorable with handmade turtles, cards, swan towels and cake. Thank you Breakfast was excellent most days. We were there for the Lunar new year holiday so for a few days selection was restricted. The service was first class.

Good coffee is hard to find.

Loved the ocean view. The pool area was very enjoyable. We took advantage of the happy hour specials in the lounge. The breakfast buffet was extensive. Our bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. We rented a scooter and were able to take advantage of exploring the island. Anh at the front desk was amazing! She looked out for us and a couple of other staff also spoke English.

Be aware that this is a popular place for Asian guests and we were almost the only English speaking people in the place. It was fine for us, but just know this in case you are looking for a more social experience.

The hotel is clean and modern, in a good location for the town and overlooking the sea and other islands. The team and especially Anh were friendly and helpful. The pool is a great size, and there's a nice rooftop bar.

Breakfast was not great, catering mostly for domestic tourists, which, to be fair, were in the majority. The hotel had all that you needed for a good stay. We just felt it wasn"t optimised. - limited all-day menu in the restaurant, no drinks service at the pool As it's a modern hotel with no carpets or furnishings in the corridors, they can be noisy!

The staff at the secret are amazing (especially Nguyet & Anh at the front desk). It's a new hotel with really nice facilities and walking distance to the museum and historical prisons.

The staff helped solve this for us, but you should know that there are a propaganda speakers installed in the small park at the North-East side of the building which play "news" from about 5am. This is the side which faces the museum (mountain-ocean view). A few people did complain about this - although it is no fault of the hotels - and the staff moved us into a room facing North-West for the next couple of nights. This room had a city/mountain view and was more quiet.

Great overall except food is not good. In my opinion if you have to prepare, cook, refrigerate and reheat to serve foods then there is a major issue with the kitchen menu, staffing and organisation. Top this with over priced food. This lets the resort down. I have run many successful resort restaurants and private restaurants and this restaurant at the secret has some major issues.

The position over looking the sea and a short walk from the many restaurants in town plus the close proximity to many of Con Dao historical sites made it a perfect location The hotel had a lovely infinity pool and was very well appointed great staff and very comfortable bed

There was really nothing not to like

Hotel is newly renovated and modern. The room is also spacious and clean as advertised.

Swimming pool water is quite dirty. Although the breakfast buffet does have a lot of variety, the staff fails to refill the food resulting us not being able to take much food despite coming before 9am.

Nice and clean hotel, my room was adequately clean and very spacious. Hotel staff was friendly and fast in helping with any request. Location of the hotel is also good, since the city is pretty walkable but it's quiet around the hotel. Airport shuttle was included with the room for free. My city view room even had a partial sea view.

Laundy service and restaurant prices are very overpriced, similar to the room rate itself. It is apparent that this hotel has not many competitors on Con Dao and therefore can ask those kind of prices. 3,5€ for laundry of one T-shirt. Breakfast is 14€ for a good but not great breakfast buffet, while you can get amazing meals in local restaurants for as much as 1,5€. Although I was the only person in both airport pickup and drop off, I was bound to fixed departure times of the shuttle, which made little sense to me. During my 4 days, the beach next to the hotel was not really usable due to strong winds and bad timing of the tides. So consider that when booking.
