Location relative to subway, groceries, and restaurants. The staff were exceptional, providing resources above and beyond normal requirements when my wife got sick and needed transportation to a local ER. Franz, at the front desk, deserves special recognition for his superior response and mobilizing the special services. All staff members we interacted with were great!

The toilet wouldn't flush completely the first time (had to do it twice, with a specific process and timing) , even after a maintenance man came and worked on it. He said the design was flawed and they don't use them when replacing. We were one block over from the FDNY and NYPD stations (next to one another), so heard a lot of sirens, even though we were on the seventh floor; earplugs and pillow over the head is a necessity for all but the soundest sleepers.

Fifty Sonesta let us upgrade to a Junior suite with 2 queen beds and a pull out couch. Most of the rooms around NYC are very small, but this one was very spacious. It also had a kitchenette and daily room service. There was a daily $10 credit to use to buy water and other beverages ( water was $6 & $9). The bell men were the kindest and most helpful people I encountered. Everything was kept clean and we felt very safe around the area. There was a coffee shop, Mcdonalds, bagel shop, Chase bank and other services nearby. I would definitely stay at Fifty Sonesta again. I highly recommend it.

The only thing I disliked was that the bathroom didn't have a fan. But I would take the large room over not having a fan.

Great location, plenty of food options for kids nearby like McDonald’s and Dunkin’ Donuts one block away in a basement of a building connected to the subway with a pretty direct train to the Statue of Liberty ferry. Worth finding the Dunkin’ next to the 6 train. There was also a nice breakfast lunch spot in the same location. I saw some reviews of this hotel saying negative comments, but I think this was a great spot and it’s Manhattan what do you expect for the price. If you have a car do the valet it’s way better and probably cheaper than the park yourself options nearby.

Could not figure out the weird microwave oven. Wolfgang puck coffee in the room was horrible. But not deal breaker for me

The room was spacious, and everything was as advertised. The fold out bed was even made up for us as requested. The staff was wonderful, they made a distinct point to be clear, helpful and welcoming g at all times. The hospitality simply felt very genuine. What a refreshing change from the norm.

It wasn’t really an issue, but we were unaware before arrival that our car would be parked significantly off-site and would take around 30 min to retrieve and there were no in and outs available. This would have been nice to know in advance. Not essential, just helpful.

The staff were all courteous and extremely helpful. They happily stored our bags after checkout so we could do some sightseeing before we had to leave later in the day. They were also very helpful with answering questions about navigating the subway and NJ train system as we left NYC to head for NJ and West Point. The hotel room was larger than most in NYC and clean. Not the fanciest in terms of decor but the extra space was much appreciated for our group of 5 and the finishes were nice enough relative to the value of the extra space and the room being clean which I find is a major gamble with some NYC hotels.

Only complaint would be that the elevators are smaller than some other hotels and there are only 2 so you may wait an extra minute or two but honestly it wouldn't stop me from staying here again. The wait wasn't that long (truly just 1 or 2 extra minutes) and everything else made it well worth it.

Wonderful Staff! Perfect location. Room was HUGE for our family of 5. We loved the location. The kitchen was so convenient. The bathroom was very nice. We were thrilled with our stay in your hotel and would absolutely stay there again. I was amazed we could get such a nice place and this much room at this location in New York City for the price. It was a very expensive trip for our family, and the hotel was the most expensive part, but we knew this room was a good value.

1) Our kitchen in room 1013 had a mold/mildew smell all week. 2) The sprinkler system accident and evacuation took place on our 2nd or 3rd night and following that, the elevator next to our room didn't work (understandably), but unfortunately, another elevator failed too so for much of the week elevators were an issue. 3) We had 5 people in our room, but every day it was a mystery whether we would receive 4 or 5 towels with our housekeeping service- that was a little bit of a hassle since it was quite hot all week and our family was taking daily (sometimes twice daily) showers. We often had to improvise or request an extra towel.

I asked for late check-out, they managed it for a few seconds without any extra charge. So helpful staff members.

The staff was attentive and friendly. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. We stayed in a room with a kitchen which enabled us to eat in on a couple of nights. Essa Bagels is across the street...easy to snag bagels when they open. The location is awesome.

There was a daily fee to cover snacks, fitness room, and a dry cleaning credit. It seemed a bit superfluous because snacks can be gotten cheaper at Duane Reade.

Room is good, nothing beyond expectations Localization excelent, midtown, east side, walking distance of %th Ave, excelent restaurants Hotel Breakfast is very good, if not a complete american buffet, it goes beyond a continental one.

Fifty is NOT Affinia, no more, that means: happy hours cancelled, unreasonable fees. It´s a pity for loyal customers Mandatory daily fee of USD10 was implemented to provide service of beverage and others useless stuff. You pay using or not that facility or service,. Though external temperatures were low, at night ( around 58 F) the AC heat option was not available; this situation was corrected after 2 days of claims at reception.

Location is fantastic. Walking distance to Rockefeller center and 5th Avenue shopping. NYPD depot is behind the hotel, so it felt like a nice safe area for NYC. $15 daily room credit for snacks and drinks was a really nice touch. Friendly helpful staff.

Main areas were clean, but I'm a bit of a clean freak, and notice that there's no attention to detail so in my opinion it was still pretty grubby. Nightstand had electrical outlets on it which would've been really convenient but the nightstand wasn't plugged in. Looked behind it to attempt to plug it in, but it was disgustingly dirty back there, so I didn't bother. I wasn't sticking my hand back there! Lol. Headboard night lights didn't work... again, I think because the bed needed to be plugged in. Wasn't about to reach back there amongst the filth. Refrigerator didn't work. Small bathrooms with dirty grout in shower.
