Garden City Hotel, Best Western Signature Collection

The location was very good, the pool was very nice and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was buffet style and there was plenty of choice. The rooms were very nice and the bed very comfortable. The shower was amazing, great pressure and lots of hot water. Would definitely recommend, and when we return to Canberra we will definitely stay here.

The room doors could do with soft closers, as at night you could hear doors banging, not a huge problem. The TV's could do with updating, they work, but the remote was almost useless, again not a huge problem.

Great value stay. Nice pool and outdoor area. Staff were friendly and gave detailed information when requested. Room was simple, but clean and the bed was comfortable. Although the hotel was busy, it was relatively quiet unless someone was particularly loud in the hallway. Breakfast buffet was simple, but well stocked and good value.

Not really ‘dislikes’, just to make people aware. Bathroom configuration is cramped - being taller and using the toilet means having to manoeuvre at an odd angle to sit without banging your knee against the large vanity. The hotel is little out of the way. German club next door the only nearby (walking distance) option for dinner, as the hotel restaurant isn’t open on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The room was clean, tidy and very comfortable. I have stayed here before and do think it will be the place i stay in the future too. Jake was very friendly, polite, courteous with my check in, and check out, he tried to get me a poolside view but there was none available at the time. Just trying to do this for me, I was really grateful, such a lovely young man. Staff are friendly, and willing to help you with anything you might need. I would like to see a rail installed at the steps of the pool to make it easier for people like me ( with arthritis in my knees) to get in and out safely. I was hesitant to try and get in this time as i found it hard to balance to get out. Swimming is really good for arthritic knees and feet 😊

This was a return visit having been impressed previously. Once again the staff were welcoming and helpful and we were very happy with everything. It is very good value for the money. Our room was pleasant with two chairs (hooray!) and a table. The bed was very comfortable and the shower great with good towels. There is plenty of on-site parking and very easy access from the main roads whilst being in a quiet setting. The landscaped area around the pool is an attractive area for relaxation and there is a gym. The buffet breakfast, whilst not haute cuisine, is extensive, including everything you could ask for both hot and cold, providing a substantial start to the day. I believe the house restaurant is open Monday to Thursday for dinner. (Check) Being Sunday we ate at the German Club next door. The atmosphere was friendly and the food good. It’s popular, book online. We’ll be looking forward to a return visit.

Absolutely nothing to dislike for a four star motel.

The hotel was easy to locate. Both the rooms booked were next to each other and quiet since we were given pool-facing ones. There was plenty of free parking. The staff at the reception were very helpful....in fact the lady helped us bring the trolley with the bags to our room. The hotel is a little out of the center of town but it suited us since we were driving to the Snowy Mountain area the next day

A microwave in the room would have been a good addition. We were told that we could use the one in the common area....turned out that was in the laundry room so we didn't use it !! They did have a fridge in the room ....forgot to take our things out of it while checking out the next morning so left more than AUD 70 worth of stuff in it :( ...but that isn't the hotel's fault. They should put some plug points near the bed for charging phones etc

clean nice room bed comfortable bathroom clean and well stocked reception lady was absolutely lovely parking on site - but be aware we were lucky to get a space as we often came back in the evening to find only one place available.

Window seals worn so icy cold air, just a bit, came in. My bed was next to the window so I'd get a cold draft unless I put our luggage and hotel cushions and hotel furnishings along the closed curtain to try and block it. Air con didn't help that situation. There was a shortage of caffeinated coffee. All sachets in the room were decaf. Thankfully the lady at reception had a few in a secret stash. Thank you.

Room was nicely presented and serviced daily. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Good selection of food in the breakfast buffet.

9 am is too early to be closing down breakfast, especially when they actually start clearing it away at that time. Also, the breakfast staff have an annoying habit of putting their already-cooked poached eggs in hot water on the buffet table. So what happens? They just keep cooking and go hard. They need to find a way of keeping them warm without putting them back in the medium used to cook them. The staff were always willing to cook eggs fresh so that they were still runny but that just inconveniences both the customer (having to ask) and their staff (being interrupted). It would be far better to display them differently in the first place.

When our previous Canberra stay had a large price increase we decided to stay here. So glad we did. Conveniently located just off a main road it is quiet and attractive whilst easy to get to and has good parking. The staff are welcoming and helpful and our room was very comfortable and pleasant. It was great to have two chairs to relax in. The bed was comfortable, shower roomy and good linen provided. The motel restaurant is open Monday to Thursday. Being Saturday we ate at the Germania Club which has an extensive and tasty menu. We booked for included breakfast and enjoyed it very much. It exceeded our expectations and will ensure our return. All in all it is the best value we have experienced in Canberra having tried five others over the years. We will certainly return :)

Bed, location, upgraded at no cost when first room was unsuitable due to fault in bathrolm. Heating good, very clean. Good shower. Very modern. Staff were very keen to please and everyone helpful.

VERY small fridge with no ice and overloaded with minibar stuff so we couldn't fit our perishables, TV very booming and intermittently blanked out for a few seconds. Bathroom very cramped. Despite modern poorly maintained (eg TV fault and bedside lamp faulty)

Really enjoyed the layout of the room and the warm cozy feeling. The bed was super comfortable and had a wonderful sleep each night. Got to relax in bed watching movies on a good size tv. The bathroom was nice. In future if we stay again when it's warmer we would love to swim in the pool but it was too cold but the room upgrade was really nice with a good view of pool area. Staff were accommodating, very friendly and welcoming.

The bathroom was a bit small for the size of the room.
