Diplomat Hotel Alice Springs

Spacious comfortable room. Good location.for sights around town. Was gated and had a security door on the room door. Pool was good although had a lot of leaves in it from recent winds. Eating places very close by. Staff very friendly and helpful going out of the way to organise a taxi for us.

Security is obviously an issue here as witnessed by the hotel being surrounded by a fence, being gated and the extra metal shutter on the front door of the room. This does seem.to he an issue at hotels in Alice Springs though. We personally had no issues at all though

Fantastic location, right on the main road. Coles, Woolworths, and K-Mart are all walkable with 2-5 mins (same with many restaurants and cafes). Good wifi and A/C. Room was big enough. Comfortable bed, linens, and pillows. Clean bathroom with good water pressure and hot water. Great to have shampoo and conditioner supplied. Nice touch to have a kettle, fridge, coffee, and tea in room.

Dirty coffee mug provided as clean. No hand soap. A/C dripping, so had to move bed a little. Shower went from luke warm to scalding, so it took a little jiggling to get it right.

Room was huge, slightly dated and simply styled but clean and comfortable. Split system air conditioner worked well, shower pressure and hot water were great. Love places with an empty but good size fridge so I can store my own drinks, snacks and fruits. The restaurant and pub at the front of the motel provide excellent quality meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner - all fairly priced too.

Took a while to get the TV to work (batteries needed replacing in remote and it was left on the wrong source setting), but finding buttons and bit of patience got there. There was no cutlery in the room but a couple of teaspoons, so difficult for takeaway unless you were prepared with your own travel cutlery.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Located very close to the mall. The hotel has an associated cafe (called Stumps) that had just about the best coffee I have ever tasted, and an associated pub (called Uncles) that does great meals and a trivia night. When you check in you get 2 coffee vouchers for Stumps, and 2 drink vouchers for Uncles.

Because the Diplomat is so close to the centre of town, you can very clearly hear all the noise going on during the night (people yelling, cars hooning). I stayed at other places in Alice and this was a problem everywhere, so this problem isn't particular to the Diplomat.

The Diplomat is located right in the centre of Alice Springs with good access to inner city services by foot, and easy taxi options for further out options. The staff are friendly and helpful in response to requests. Food options are plentiful onsite and nearby.

The convenient central location means you are right in the centre of all the action in Alice Springs so I found the street-side room was a little noisier than the inner-facing room I had previously stayed in. But my request to relocate rooms was quickly accommodated and a swim in the pool and excellent AC helped create a restful few days.

Location was excellent for our requirements. The beds were so comfortable. A very good night's sleep was enjoyed all nights. Cleanliness was reasonable considering the lack of availability of staff & the rooms are older. The Staff were brilliant in the way they dealt with our every request even when under pressure. Keep up the GOOD work!! Loved the fact that breakfast was available on site. Also having Uncles next door is a GREAT asset.

Maybe simple updating to bring up to standard BUT we realise this is a costly exercise in the current climate of COVID. On a positive note the rooms & prices are very suitable for the budget traveller & the many hikers, like us, that stay.

The gardens and views are lovely , most guests were national holiday makers (families ). The property would need a bit of face lift but super location and AMAZING receptionists : friendly , kind , helpful and reacted promptly to requests /suggestions . Nice little bar with good fish dishes. Excellent value for money .

I found the bar staff (young guys ) playing far “too cool for school” and rather busy entertaining each other.

Hotel is conveniently located in the centre, near Woolworths and Todd mall. You can go from there to Anzac hill on foot, it takes around 15 minutes. Rooms are spacious. They give vouchers for free beer in the evening and coffee in the morning.

Be aware that there is noise from the street until late hours, people are driving in cars and screaming loudly. During our stay there was fire alarm just after midnight, but there was nobody from staff that could explain what's happening. Also in the morning nobody apologised.

The location is excellent.. just at the center of the town.. they also have a pub and a cafe that are open 7 days which is very convenient since a lot of restaurants are not open in certain days.. when you check in they gave me a voucher for a free drink in the pub and a free coffee in the cafe.. which is great..

The sheet is not as clean as I want it to be.. it looks old and have a black strain on it.. and if you stay near the pub, it could be a bit noisy..they don’t have a “do not disturb” sign.. which sometimes room service may come in the morning knocking your door when you are in your room chilling..

The hotel was in a great location and a very great price. I really enjoyed the toiletries available and they were a pleasant surprise especially considering the price!

Being on the second floor with heavy bags and no lift available. I only stayed for one night (I arrived after 1am and left shortly after 10am) and would have preferred a ground floor room for this reason.
