Deep Blue Hotel & Hot Springs

We’re a family of four who stayed at the 2-bedroom Penthouse from 8-10 July 2023. The Penthouse was fantastic - spacious, clean, and with good ocean views. The staff were pleasant. The Hot Springs were a unique and wonderful experience - we opted for an afternoon slot when it wasn’t too crowded and we had plenty of time to enjoy all the Hot Springs. Note that (understandably) all the Hot Springs are in the open so weather can be an unknown factor — but really once you’re inside the Hot Springs it hardly matters. The weekend we were there much of south-east Australia including Warrnambool had severe weather warnings and despite that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

The view was marvellous. Close to the beach. Hotel clean,well looked after. Even got notes under our door about cleaning the room. Staff were lovely and couldn't do enough to look after you. The hot springs on site were a great bonus

The noise. If you want a quiet stay, then this is not the place to go. There are apartments all around,people coming and going all hours of the night in the car park.we went in off peak how much noisier would it have been if all the places around were fully booked!!!

Loved the bathroom folding doors as it made the room feel bigger. We could see the fishing bay and merri & middle islands and cliffs from our balcony which was nice. Indoor swimming pool was great size & good to do laps.

The shower head could be better as it felt like pins of water on your face. Pity about the resort in front as it predominantly blocked off the beach view from inside the room....if the bed was on other side of the room you would see the beach from bed. Indoor swimming pool was nice but could have been a couple degrees warmer, would be nice to have more windows so didnt feel completely enclosed.

View was nice. Location was excellent.Room was good size and well equipped. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hot springs were amazing. It was pretty good value for money.

I was a little hot during the night., It would have been good if there was fresh air circulating into the rooms. Saw the prices for spa treatments and thought these were quite expensive. The restaurant was not open for dinner which was disappointing but we had a great dinner and drinks at the hotel next door so it was lucky that restaurant was close by.

The hotel seems to be recently redecorated and our room was great. Very large, comfortable beds, uplifting decorations and a big bathroom. A balcony with a nice view. Coffee and yea facilities in the room. Staff friendly. It is walking distance from the ocean.

The hot springs were disappointing. Those are presented as a large area with several different baths and whilst the number of baths might be accurate, those include very small one/two person baths and the difference between the baths wasn't noticeable. The price is high and didn't include towels or robes.

The drive from Melbourne takes about three hours. The roads aren't that great getting there, but the hotel was a welcome surprise. The moment we pulled up it felt like we were on holidays and the area certainly had a Gold Coast vibe. We had a oceanview room which was lovely, and the room at everything we needed.

There are a few little gripes. Firstly, the morning checkout was 10 o'clock, which to be honest is too early. Secondly, there was no discount for accessing the spa complex which is part of the establishment. I think guests should be entitled to at the very least a 10% discount, Or perhaps a free coffee or something once inside. Also, the spa facilities are really for adults, or mature teenagers at the least. When we use the facilities there were quite a number of children running around, which really spoiled the whole point of the facility.

The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean

I was disappointed with the breakfast on our first morning. Admittedly we arrived there slightly before ten but there was no table clean or ready, took some five minutes to provide cutlery and clean a table, there was a little scrambled egg left, no hot baked beans or sausages left and was not replaced in the time we sat there. We did not have breakfast there again because we weren’t prepared to be disappointed again.

Unfortunately the in house meals ( breakfast and evening meals) were not available at our time of staying, something not mentioned when we booked.Not a problem as we found nice place local for breakfast and midday meals were had whilst out and about.The hotel found out it was our Golden Wedding break and left a complimentary bottle of wine in the room.Fire alarm activated whilst there, false alarm, which was new twist on “meet and greet”. Nice hotel, no doubt we will return when we next visit Warrnambool..

Apart from the restaurant and in house bar closed all was fine.

We stayed in the 3 bedroom penthouse suite and what a room. Split level with simply amazing views. Was really pleasantly surprised. For a family of 5 it's awesome and the adults having their own separate level made it so nice. The hot springs experience was also an amazing experience, just be aware it's not part of your hotel stay. You have to pay extra and its not cheap costing out family of 5 something like $180. This is unfortunate because you definitely pay a lot to stay at the hotel and I would have thought this could be included. The fact that people not staying in the hotel could come and it wasn't any cheaper means you could stay somewhere a lot cheaper and come and have this same experience.

Unfortunately the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. The atmosphere is more of a cafe than a restaurant. We also had to wait an insane amount of time to be served, not just to begin with but also between courses. So much so that we almost got up and left. And the food is good, but definitely not great. Save your time and go out on the town, it looked like there were some cool little places you could go.
