Silver Star Motel

I liked having all the amenties...fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, hairdryer, & wifi. Staff were friendly & helpful and gave us plenty of information needed for our stay.

The parking lot wasn't cleared well upon arrival (snow/ice)...but staff was out a day later salting/shovelling.Parking area rather tight in spots (but fine where we parked...just not close to our room). Room was very cold at first & slow to warm but fine once it did warm up

I was looking for an inexpensive place to spend one night so was looking for cleanliness and a comfortable bed. For an older motel, this exceeded my expectations.The flooring has been updated in the last few years. I didn't use the shower or a bath tub so I can't comment on that but I found the hot water fine just washing up. The motel was not full and I don't believe there was anyone in the room above me so I can't comment on sound transference but overall I was pleased at the lack of noise from the highway, which is about a block away. Having a microwave and a small fridge is also a bonus when traveling.

Really good location only a few blocks away from the downtown core. Room was extremely clean.

There was an overwhelmingly strong perfume smell in the room that required us to open the windows turn on the air conditioner full blast and run an air cleaner just to make it breathable that night. I don't usually complain about strong odors but this was unbelievably overpoweringly strong. I can only assume it was the cleaning products they use but I've never experienced that in hotel room before. My partner said it was actually the smell of rose water but I have no idea. If it was there on purpose however then perhaps the owners should dial it down a little bit when spraying it.

This is not a knock on the motel but please note I checked in late and was tired, yet the front desk guy insisted on doing a full tour of the room. The only thing I really needed to know was the code to access the second floor. Everything else was pretty self-explanatory. I think he sensed I wanted him to stop but I think management probably insisted he do it, and I'm just too nice to say 'stop'. Please be flexible where warranted. One minor issue is I had to push the TV remote buttons very hard to get the TV to respond.

The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful, thank you for that. The room was quite big and simple but had everything we needed. Everything was clean. The location is good, only a few blocks away from the city center with all the restaurants ad cafes. Parking is safe and thery're dog-friendly (big shout out for that).

Nothing to complain about. Just be prepared, that the furniture is a little bit old & tired. :)

The location is right on the main highway, easy to find. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable. While the motel is obviously older, it was clean and well maintained.

could hear traffic noise being on the main highway but I expect all motels on a main highway have this issue to some extent, it wasn’t too bad

It's your typical side of the highway budget hotel. The owner is very kind but a bit of a micro-manager. There are signs everywhere telling you what to do and what not to do. Even has a sign in the shower to explain how to turn it on. Lol. It's a bit over the top but in a funny way. Definitely doesn't impact the experience just a little unusual.

Check in process takes a little too long as once again the owner must go into a long speech about what to do and not to do before you get to the room. Overall I reccomend staying here.

Manager showed me through the room and I was impressed. Nice soft bed and overall a very clean room. I’ll be back again as I enjoyed my stay. First time in 11 years I’ve been there. Manager went out of his way and called me to tell me I forgot my glasses which was kind of him to do that.
