Selina Jaco

The location, easy to book surfing lessons, the pool area is nice. Room was tidy. Good to have events to go to and nice to socialise. Great vibes at the hostel compared to other places.

Its not cheap. Room is very small, but its ok as its a micro room, so we knew it would be. The toilet was making a squeeling noise all night and woke us up. We told reception and no one did anything about it. It wasn't also the first time someone reported it.

Right on the beach, close to a lot of restaurants and sodas. Free parking is in a locked secure parking lot. The rooms were spacious and bathroom was big with a great shower. Provided both beach and bathing towels. The keyless entry locks are brilliant, you don't need to carry a key or have your access card on your wrist like other Selina properties. Great spot to watch people surf from the bar.

I mean the location is excellent, right on the beach! The drinks and food were very good and reasonably priced. The one thing I enjoyed the most were the privacy curtains in the dorms. This feature should be standard at all Selena properties.

I really can't comment here, as I really enjoyed my stay and the people I met.

Selina is in a great location right in front of the beach. My partner and I stayed in a private standard room. It had A/C and it’s own bathroom.

The Room is a little small for a couple. Bathroom had a sewer smell. Not enough staff present to provide service for guests. Wanted to get breakfast and waited for 20 minutes sitting down and no one helped us. We got up and as we were leaving, that’s when someone finally came to try to help us. Housekeeper forgot to leave towels and went to reception to asked for some. Took them 35 minutes to bring me towels.

The staff were very friendly and kind. I arrived early, and they let me keep my bags there and wait there until check in time. When I checked out, I left my bag there while I went to go surfing for a few hours, then came back and it was nice to have somewhere to rinse off after. They let you come and go from the property until 6pm, even after you've checked out, which was super convenient. It's right on the beach, so a great location, especially if you're hoping to surf and hang out on the beach. Good kitchen with lots of appliances. Rooms are nice and cool. Privacy curtains for the dorms.

Very little room to keep your food in the fridge. The community bathrooms for the dorms tend to be a little dirty, but people are coming in from off the beach, so it makes sense I guess...

The hotel' s location is fantastic! A few steps and you're on the beach. Selina also offers great free activities like yoga, welcome drink and bracelet making workshop. It also seems to be the case that the hotel is on the much nicer part of Jaco. We stayed in the small private rooms with the shared bathroom, the room was nice! We really enjoyed our stay but note that Selina Jaco is much more a hotel than a hostel and that does reflect in the clientele in our opinion. Overall we had a great stay.

Two things that did bother us, firstly it seems to be the case that they have problems with there water, showers were overflowing or not working properly etc. And in the weekend there is extremely loud music, we are still not sure were it was coming from but on the Friday evening there was very loud music playing till 05:00 am.

On the beach:) Great pool and beach vibe! Pet friendly - my fur baby was looked after by everyone - staff and guests alike:) Surf lessons were phenomenal - Thanks Lucas and Mike! Close to all the restaurants and bars Staff were attentive and on the ball - had a couple of issues that were addressed immediately:) Thanks you Valentina and Daniella:) Breakfast was amazing - fruit and granola:)

Room was basic but spacious - close to the road - you could hear all the scooters and cars go by… you could also hear the folks above - shuffling and moving - not much insulation between floors

You could literally sit in the restaurant at Selina Jacó and watch the waves crashing the beach is so close! Rooms were super comfortable, clean and the air conditioning was excellent! Staff had great personalities and so friendly you felt as if you stayed longer they would become good friends! Within easy walking distance from great restaurants in town and places to book adventures and activities ! The pool was super nice and free salsa dance lessons were so fun! Very fun community of people there . My only complaint would be that the beach sand it a bit rocky and hard to walk barefoot to the water …. But it’s only a short distance and then you can be releaved when you swim in the warm waves.

I booked 6 nights and when we were there we needed to leave early and only needed 5 nights. There was no way to receive a refund because I booked it online. But of coarse I had to book it online. I am not from Costa Rica . Maybe if there was a way to get a refund that would really help.

Excellent location, right on the beach and Main Street. friendly staff, good AC, big kitchen and lovely pool and pool area. I got a private bedroom with shared bathroom which was perfect, very comfortable. Lots of electrical sockets and USB ports around the room. Felt more like a hotel than a hostel which I like.

Pool could do with refreshing as there’s a lot of tiles missing, food and drink quite expensive (but expected with Selina), no hand towels at the sinks for the semi private rooms.

Great value for the price. Great location directly on the beach. Excellent workspace with desks and meeting rooms - had no problem doing Zooms and other things necessary to run my business remotely.

Better policy for cleaning out the guest refrigerators. There was never any room for our food because there was old food that had clearly been abandoned by guests no longer staying there. Maybe each guest gets a box to put food in and no more.
