Trapp Family Country Inn

Had to leave at 03.00 so no breakfast, but porter made us a coffee whilst we waited for taxi. The hotel had an old-world feel - was spacious and the room was comfortable and clean. There was a decent-sized pool which we didn't have time to use. We had dinner almost immediately after arrival which was tasty and plentiful. The staff were friendly and obliging.

Nothing we didn't like, but if we'd stayed longer, the aircraft noise might have concerned us - but it was only 5 minutes from the airport so very convenient for us as a pre-departure stop

Considering this is really close to the airport, it’s a beautiful little escape and way more of a value deal than staying at the Hilton or Holiday Inn. The whole property is like a little oasis, covered with trees and greenery, and is situated right next to the river. It was a beautiful place and perfect for our day before our flight.

The pool could have been cleaner. It was covered with debris and bugs so it wasn’t as pleasant to swim in as it could have been.

This hotel was a gem! The photos did not do it justice. We booked it for our last night in Costa Rica and enjoyed it greatly. The surroundings and decor were tasteful. My husband also enjoyed a dip in the pool. A big thank you to the staff members as they were exceptionally nice and helpful - I don't like coriander and the staff members did everything to make sure I would have no coriander in my food. If we go back to Costa Rica we will book a longer stay in this hotel as they also organise wildlife trips.

Only 5 min drive from the airport yet this place is so peaceful, surrounded by beautiful gardens and trees. Our room was on the ground floor with a small terrace overlooking the gardens/pool. A good size with great shower and continuous hot water/pressure. Beds were extremely comfortable. The pool was a good size with some beds and seating areas to relax in the sun. The veranda and open restaurant areas both overlook the gardens. We opted for the evening meal and breakfast - both were tasty and value for money. The owner very kindly arranged a birthday surprise for my friend at breakfast after a request - thank you again! A perfect way to relax before a long flight home. Would recommend if flying in/out of San Jose.

Nothing to dislike

A short 10 minute drive to the airport. Colonial style. Lush grounds. Spacious and comfortable room. Quiet except for the occasional airplane. Nice staff and owners. Verandas. Staff/owners arranged for an early morning taxi (4am!) for me and had coffee and fruit available.

Cost of taxi too and from the airport. Other, larger hotels near the airport have shuttles.

We were so pleased we chose this amazingly peaceful oasis of calm, at the end of a driveway away from busy road. Beautiful garden setting with lovely view from large balcony - felt like we had arrived in the rainforest but with the convenience of proximity to the international airport. Aircraft noise was not an issue - surprisingly infrequent, not a problem for a light sleeper. Lovely hosts communicated exceptionally well and went out of their way to help. Breakfast and dining were 10/10 for every aspect - couldn't have asked for more. We would definitely return. Highly recommended!

After staying in a few rainforest accommodations I have come to expect a few inevitable insects in the room, but there were a few more ants than expected here (harmless and on the floor but maybe an issue for some). Overall, nothing we would have changed!

The grounds were beautiful and quiet yet so close to the airport. Service was absolutely wonderful. They had everything we needed, from dinner, breakfast, beer and wine to wind down with after a long flight. Even Tylenol for my husband. Bed and room was comfortable. Wonderful welcome to Costa Rica. The food was delicious!

Really no complaints. It was a little hard getting our bags up the second story.

This place is such a delight! It's gorgeous, and the staff is friendly and helpful beyond any expectation. It really does feel like a jungle oasis amidst the urban jungle of the San Jose area. The room was very comfortable too!

Very good typico local breakfast, very helpful staff at all times, they helped us arrange transport into town and answered all our questions and were always available. Very comfortable and clean room, lovely view, spacious room, good Wi-Fi

Travel reviews don't often mention magic, but this place gets a 10/10 on the magic scale. One of the best (maybe the best) places we stayed on our 11 day visit. Amazing food and so much beauty - the pictures don't do it justice. I almost want to extend our trip just to rest here another night. When we arrived we stayed at an airport express hotel but the vibes there never feel good and the food isn't nourishing. So we tried this Inn on our way out and it was surprisingly lovely and filled with heart and nourishment. I am reminded of how much the subtle energy and intention of a space has an impact on experience. We will be back!
