Hotel Christian IV

Our location, the room setup, the cozy-ness of the hotel and history, bicycle rental was more than reasonable when compared to the share programs. Not sure why many people gave a negative review on the bed. It was perfectly fine and not just a mattress topper, but also a fully coil mattress design for the lower section which is common in Europe countries and unlike North America and other countries that use a mattress and a hard base which can be very uncomfortable!!

The elevator was very small (smallest in the world I have seen!) but goes with the history of the building. The wifi stopped working for a bit, but the host managed to reboot the router and it worked again

The room was very clean and most comfortable. The location of the hotel was selected as it appeared on the map as being central to the various places I intended to walk to, i.e. The Little Mermaid, Tivoli Garden and the Museum of Danish Resistance. The location was in fact very central and thus easy to walk from there to places mentioned with in 30-40 minutes. The hotel was on a quiet street and that makes sleeping very uninterrupted. Mind you Copenhagen is overall a quiet city but the hotel was exceptionally quiet. Breakfast was most delightful with the variety of items offered. Very healthy and very tasty. Overall the staff was friendly, professional and helpful in all respects. Coincidently, the weather was comfortable in being cool and thus made walking comfortable. Finally, the hotel was a great place to start the day and equally great to have an enjoyable rest at the end of the day.

One item, not the fault of the hotel, was the complexity of the road pattern in the down town and thus older part of the city. The city map offered by the hotel was good for general planning, it was of little use to navigate to myriad of narrow streets with accuracy. The city doesn't put street signs on every corner and thus without a very detailed map, walkers could get easily lost. I recommend that the hotel have a copy available for sale of "Copenhagen City Map" by Lonely Planet, lonelyplanet.com As an inveterate walker, it was invaluable.

Very nice hotel, albeit basic, but answered all our requirements. Very clean and stuff is supporting. Free tea/coffee in the lobby (and even a complimentary glass of wine at 5pm - unusual in our day and age of cutting costs everywhere). Very good location, nice and reasonably priced breakfast (and a great craft coffee/breakfast place across the street). Bike rental shop at the corner of the street.

The smallest rooms are really small, so take the bigger one if you can. Also there is only one elevator, so we asked for rooms on lower floors and used the elevator only to get our luggage to and from the room. Elevator is ok though.

The young man, Fra, tried to replace the three bulbs with no success. He mentioned the lamps would be fixed the next day, which did not happen during the three nights I stayed there.

We were here for 5 nights to get married in Copenhagen. Our stay was absolutely perfect. It was super easy to book for our guests as well. The rooms are big and comfortable. They have an option where, if you don't have your room done, you get a 100DKK voucher for their bar, which is awesome. The breakfast was not too expensive (for Copenhagen) and really really good. Large choice of savoury and sweet options. There is tea, coffee and cakes available in the lounge for you to help yourself, and it is a great way to enjoy have a snack when back from exploring Copenhagen. The staff was wonderful -- we asked them to put a bottle of champagne in their fridge, hold on to my wedding bouquet, and they were so helpful. Also, it is so well situated, you can walk anywhere, and plenty of restaurants and bars only 5 minutes away. And there's a park 1 minute away where I went to do my morning run. I cannot highlight how great this place was. It made us feel at home and it was entirely part of our wedding. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Rooms could have more storage (like a shelf in the bathroom to put your washbag or something).

The position of the hotel is excellent, just 5 min away from Rosenbourg and Kings Garden. Each day there were a kids theater - very nice. The breakfast was very good, coffee, tea and fruits all the day. The people there were very nice and helpful. Of corse, parking in Kopenhagen is a challenge but the the hotel is offering to arrange it for you (at additional costs). The rooms were cleaned up every day, but the bathrooms are quite olddated. All in one, I would book the hotel again if I would travel again to Kopenhagen.

The bathrooms need an update.

The temperature in the room was very comfortable and we liked the emphasis on sustainability throughout the hotel. In the evening we were able to look through a record collection and select some music while we relaxed. Course to the Botanical Gardens and Natural History museum and within an easy walk of many sights in Copenhagen.

Not much. The breakfast could have been a little more varied and the coffee machine stopped working each time my wife tried to use it, but there was filter coffee available.

Very nice hotel in a strategic part of the city. The building is a little dated but the lobby and the rooms are nicely appointed and the final result is a very warm and pleasant place to stay. Reception is 24h open and the staff is very kind and super efficient for any need. Room was large enough, hair dryer and iron present. Good idea to offer a bonus drink in exchange of the housekeeping service (means saving on towel change/ electricity/water consumption...) which was fine for me staying 2 adults for just two nights. Breakfast was good. This is the hotel where I'll definitely come back when in CPH!

All was fine!

The staff was very warm and welcoming especially Melina and Lu ( I hope I got the names right). The location is excellent! Calm yet close to the major city attractions in addition to Kings garden which is just next door. They offer free wine from 5-7 for their guests which I thought very generous and welcoming. All day coffee and tea was also a nice touch! You can also rent bikes from the hotel and they are in excellent shape.

The location was excellent, within reasonable walking distance of sights, restaurants and the metro. The honesty bar was a nice idea, especially being able to use a credit voucher for choosing no room-service during our short break. The breakfast was plentiful; Continental with yogurt, cold meats, cheese, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit and veg. For those wanting a hot 'full English' type, you could make up something similar with hot sausages, soft boiled eggs and tomatoes. Free coffee and tea was a very nice touch.

We were in room 44, and unfortunately there was very little room on two sides of the comfortable double bed. Had to shuffle around sideways... and I am not a big person! Perhaps a twin would have been better. Also, there's no air con, so having windows open meant being disturbed by loud people going by at night, plus the dust lorries emptying hotel rubbish at 4.30am. The hotel can do nothing to change this, so did not complain, but had I realised when checking in, I might have asked for a room at the back of the hotel, which may have been quieter.
