Hotel de France

Central location to Bergerac, with a pool. The room was excellent overlooking the pool. Nice friendly staff also good to have a lift. Excellence selection for breakfast from fresh fruits, ham, salami and cheese, breads and French pastries.

The pool area and garden could do with a revamp. Pool was great though. Cover for gazebo would help when weather is hot. Also cushions for garden chairs would help. But these are just small issues but would take the hotel to the next level.

The location was perfect for visiting Bergerac and the surrounding area. Lots to see in town and it is so pretty with so much history. No fast food places, no 'tat' shops and plenty to see. We were recommended to use the restaurants nearest the river as they were used by the French and certainly used local produce and wines on their menu. The little artisan bakeries dotted throughout the town are well wortha visit for a breakfast pastry or cake with a freshly brewed coffee. The tourist info Quai Cyrano, by the river runs regular events and we attended the 'wine dating ' event (pairing food with local wines to a live band) and also benefitted from the festival of music and street performances being held throughout our stay.

An absolutely charming hotel in the centre of a beautiful town. The room was perfect, the aircon much needed and appreciated in the 36 degrees, and the swimming pool was so refreshing after long walks in the town. The buffet breakfast was fresh and plentiful and a great start to each morning. The guests were all lovely and friendly which added to the experience, especially the delightful Americans from Salt Lake City! The staff were faultless - welcoming, attentive and genuinely focused on making sure our stay was perfect. it was an absolute pleasure to spend three very happy days at Hotel De France. Thank you!

Lovely little hotel in an excellent position in Bergerac. The welcome was very good and the receptionist was very happy to organise an earlier than usual breakfast sitting for us due to our early flight time. Very welcoming couple. We discussed returning to explore and spend the weekend in Bergerac and we would definitely book the Hotel de France. PS Newly refurbished bathrooms very nice indeed.

Great location. Did not have breakfast but it looked very good. Rooms are small but we had booked 2 rooms with interconnecting door so perfect for 2 friends travelling on a girlie trip. One bathroom was spacious but the other had a tiny shower and had to open door to shave my legs but it was clean etc. Probably not good value per room €197 for a 2 night stay per person but suited us perfectly. Coffee machine in room was a bonus and they were happy to replenish when we asked. Plenty of power points. Pool was nice but area looked a little neglected.

Shower was very small and could not lower the head. Needs a little updating. No safe to store passports etc No mirror in bedroom and shower mirror was set too far back. Why do hotels seldom cater for women and their hair and make up?

The staff were friendly and very helpful The soundproofing door to the balcony was very efficient The breakfast was varied and good The pool area was small but very nice Location, location, location!

The lingering sewage smell in the toilet area was controllable by closing the sound door between the room door and the room.

Comfortable bed and good shower. Great location but not noisy (had a garden/pool facing room). Decent breakfast with good choice.

Shame breakfast wasn't included in the price. Stayed at a similar hotel in Bordeaux last year and breakfast was inclusive!

lovely welcome, helpful with parking my vehicle (booking.com describe as parking but its not a car park its a small garage for max 3 vehicles parked in a line). The room was perfect size for 1, quiet, hotel in a great location and everything walkable from the hotel

Breakfast was good value for money - fresh products, clean and efficiently layed out buffet style. Good coffee.

Currently there are road repairs and work being done by City Council to upgrade the area in front of Hotel. A bit noisier and more dusty than usual.

Very central location, lovely staff.

The only issue I had was I booked a room with a balcony which turned out to be a juliette balcony which you couldn't actually sit out on so was a bit disappointed with that.
