Althoff Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg

The staff was very nice, the hotel is very spacious with a nice outdoor area, and they offer all kinds of services for the guests. They made bookings for us, helped us with questions and offered to bring us to our room. The room was great, slightly old appliances but comfortable, clean, spacious, nice lighting, quiet, comfy beds, pretty look.

The wifi hardly ever worked, especially not in our room on level 3. On Sundays, breakfast for hotel guests is until 11:00, and they make sure you leave at that time because the Champagne Brunch starts right after. So we were asked to leave at 11:15, despite having just ordered more drinks. Also, the SPA is a bit small, at least there usually aren't any spots available in the quiet areas because other guests reserve them in the mornings.

The hotel was amazing! The staff were all very friendly and the Spa area was great! Our suite was spacious, exceptionally clean and had everything we needed. The food was also brilliant (only had breakfast, no evening meals).

The bed pillows were very uncomfortable but the hotel offer a pillow menu so you can choose others. Unfortunately I didn't see this menu or realise it existed until checkout day.

The room was nice and clean ( very comfortable bed / pillow for good night sleep )Spa was also nice.

I didn’t like Bar restaurant . We had to wait for our food 3 hours and when it finally arrived to our table it was cold steak ( mine was also medium well not medium rare like I ordered) After sending back our food they made us new wagyu steak ( waiting time this time was 10 to 15 minutes) finished eating 22:25 - way to late .

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the location is easily accessed even if you do not have a car. We loved our stay.

We had a weird experience the last night that was either electrical or supernatural. Either way, the hotel is not really responsible, but it was strange.

For an isolated hotel like Althoff, it was not a bad hotel. Great facilities and great scenery. Manager on Site was fantastic and extremely helpful. Food was ok like any German restaurants.

We didn’t book on the day. We were told the hotel was fully booked by reception. We told him there were rooms available with booking.com. He wasn’t interested in our conversation. We then had to book through booking.com and told him we had booked. He was extremely disappointed and was reluctantly informed his superior before we could do our check in. His supervisor was great and friendly.

Staff was helpful and kind. Nice room. Beautiful castle, Good quality facilities. Room, building well renovated.

Small con: parking expensive, especially taken into account the ample space.

Just a superb facility located 20 minutes from Cologne but whisper quiet at night. Beautifully furnished. Our room for 3 had 5 rooms! Entry vestibule, living room, full bath, dressing room, and bedroom.

TV was only in German except for news program like BBC. A first class hotel should have an extensive access to international movies, etc.

Visiting ‘the Schloss’ every year, it is a very nice and trusted place to stay over when travelling in Germany. Super rooms/fitness/wellness, and TOP restaurants. To my opinion: the Enoteca-Trattoria deserves a Michelin star.

Although being a regular guest and having noted at reservation, my wish for a room in the South wing of the hotel was not rewarded.

Really nice room with air conditioning and high ceilings. Bathroom fine but don't like shower in bath for safety reasons. Had a great dinner in restaurant which was reasonably priced. Spa was nice. Staff very professional.

The place itself is beautiful but surroundings not that much hence why we primarily stayed in the hotel and enjoyed the facilities particularly the spa and the terrace. Check in could have been a bit faster but overall a very good experience.

Beautiful place, very impressive. Big room and bathroom. Beverages, free of charge in the room. The clerk who first served me, was very polite and helpful.

We checked in the evening hours and wanted to eat. Well, you cannot ask for a salad, for a room service. You have to pick up from a menu online. When we went to the restaurant, we could not be served because there was no vacant place. That was disappointing. The bathroom was clean but there was mould on the tiles and bath at the corners. Didn't expect to see that in a a place like that.
