Courtyard by Marriott Freiburg

Location half-block to Hauptbahnhof, but there is no noise from trains. D-M, bio grocery store, Edeka, Apotheke, Restaurants, all within 5 minutes of hotel. Most well-appointed rooms of any Courtyard that I have stayed at. Exceptionally nice and quiet even though we faced the street.Hotel is new and while modern, has a quiet, cozy feel. Well-designed. Staff is outstanding!! Very good breakfast options including a changing daily homemade breakfast Kuchen. Dinner has a small but varied menu and all we had was very tasty and well priced. Really nice servers. There is an inner courtyard that is filled with vegetation and very peaceful. We will stay here again!!

We had to ask for desk chair, which was provided upon 2nd request. Other than that small point, we have only good things to say about this property. Kudos to the staff and Management of this Courtyard!!

Location is near train station and supermarkets, few steps from old city. Thank you Lucas you were so friendly when I checked in the other lady was not so helpful she delayed me for non reason.

The room is very small, no slippers, no shaving and dental kits in the toilet, there is a restaurant in the hotel but not provide a room service. One from The house keeping lady staff is hilarious, everyday early morning starts scream and talks loudly and even we put the sign paper (do not disturb) she disturbed us while sleeping first day and knocked the door loudly and shouted (housekeeping). the next morning she did the same and neglect the sign and open our room door.

Great location, parking garage under the hotel, clean and staff very friendly. Room well noise insulated, super comfy bed and tasteful modern design.

Room service knocking at the door at 9 AM and kept persisting until we opened to tell that we are still in the room. Very annoying. At the time of our stay there were works around the area of the hotel due to which the payment of the parking was a bit of a problem as apparently some cables had been damaged. Coffee and tea wasn't refilled during our stay and no mini-bar available in the room.

I booked the hotel because of the Marriott name and it didn't disappoint. The room I got was very big, very comfortable and super clean. The location is perfect - 1 minute to train station and 4 minutes to the old town. The mobile phone reception was a little affected by position of the room, I didn't have coverage in the room all the time.

I booked the room 30 minutes before arrival so it was quite expensive. However, the part I didn't like was that I wasn't told when I checked in that there will be a security deposit - so basically the €440 for 3 nights became €520 - only after the check-out I was explained this when my bank warned me of the big discrepancy. I had to go back to ask for explanations.

Location was very convenient and minutes to the train station, shopping, downtown, most tourist attractions and the trams.

The room was not suitable for a longer term stay - closet space was minimal. The bed comforters were not suitable for summer weather - too hot. The reception was not separated from the bar and close to the breakfast area. No privacy for checking in and out - had to listen to the guests' problems at the desk while eating breakfast. At check-in after a long flight and train trip group of beer drinkers were gathering at the check-in/bar. Very bad hotel design! Also smoking allowed in courtyard next to the breakfast area - very primitive!!

Not badly located property with a parking available. Clean rooms.

Sterile, office-like designed and equipped room. No drinks offer in the minibar. You can't pay in cash for the parking (Why?! Besides this is nuts and your privacy is threatened, there is no chance to leave the parking if you ain't got or lost your card or your smartphone – crazy). Ukrainian speaking room maids should consider using less their native taboo vocabulary while talking to each other in the hallway – there are guests who understand the language. Normally, the back office should be almost invisible and quiet. A polite reminder on the issue will do.

The location of the hotel to the town was so close and was great in just taking walks round the town ,sightseeing and shops . 5 mins away from main bus station and train station. Superb location Staff very friendly to chat to and welcoming. Breakfast choice was quite good, will give it an 8 but never found breakfast as great as the Raddisson (always a 10). Rooms and bath were excellent and modernised. Tea and coffee choices in the room were great. We liked it so much, we are planning to go again next year.

I left my do not disturb card on while I went for breakfast as the cleaners were already on my floor. I took it off when I got back thinking they would revisit like other hotels I have stayed in, but they didn’t. So went to the reception to ask for what I needed when I got back in the evening.

Overall nice to stay.

The constant run around regarding refund/cancellation policy. My original trip was postponed due to Covid positive on the morning of my departure. I cancelled my reservation which was met under the reservation policy at time of booking yet I was still charged for the room. Now booking tells me to talk to hotel, and the hotel tells me I need to go through booking. Once again, I spoke to the hotel upon my arrival once cleared of Covid on my rebooked trip to visit my customer in Freiburg, and told to talk to booking. At this point, I will not use Booking or the Marriott. Quite disappointing.

The staff were very helpful and considerate of our needs. I needed to replace a suitcase and they provided store names where I could purchase one, which I did. The breakfast each morning was excellent with a nice choice of foods and beverages. The room was very clean and generally comfortable. A few minutes walk from the train station was ideal and easy to do as was the location to the city sites within walking distance. I would definitely stay at this hotel again in the future.

The A/C in the room was adequate, but the blue LED light on the control switch was a bit bright at night in the room; sort of like a night light. The only issue I had with the bed was that the sheet was not properly sized for the bed and constantly pulled out from the underside of the mattress while you are sleeping and turning. This was a bit annoying along with the comforter on the bed which was the only cover to use. A second sheet and light blanket would have been a better choice, in my opinion. Perhaps this is the norm, since other hotels in Switzerland and the Netherlands had the same type of linens on their beds.

Breakfast is quite good - but a bit booring. Menu stays the same each and everyday.. It's a normal 4 stars. But the staff at breakfast room is Exceptional.. friendly and very very efficient. Location is Excellent just accross the central train station. Plenty of restaurant in the area

The amenities / toileteries in the room is very limited - we have to go down to reception to ask for toothbrush, sleepers , coffee powder etc. The hotel only provide 1 bottle of mineral water 500 ml I think for 2 people in the room and it was not replenished for the next day. I called the reception and reception told me that it was hotel policy to provide only 1 bottle in the room upon check in. I am quite surprise really... For a hotel bearing Marriot's name I guess this is not upto the standard I was expecting.
