Historik Hotel Goldener Hirsch Rothenburg

We had the street facing room which gave us the best view from the windows of the festival bands/marches going by. The breakfast area was very elegant and had the most amazing view of the valley. It was a delight! Breakfast was the basic cold cuts, bread, salad, Muesli, fruits, yogurts, cereals, Juices, eggs (scrambled with ham/ hard boiled) the hard boiled eggs had these little smiley faces drawn on them......such a cute effort. Tea with an array of selection to choose from / coffee the same from a machine. The staff there were also very prompt in refilling everything. A wonderful stay.

Great location in old Town right on one of the iconic lovely streets. The furnishings were a bit old fashioned and the mini fridge in the room did not work. It was being used to store books. However the room was comfortable and they gave us fans to keep us cool as not all rooms have air-conditioning. The bathroom was modern and clean. Breakfast was good, standard buffet served in a lovely room with wonderful views of the valley. Parking was also very convenient.

The non working fridge was inconvenient as we were traveling with our dog and I wanted to store her food in the cool as we were there in a heat wave. However they did offer to put it in the fridge in reception but I declined.

The hotel is an old building in a very touristy area which does mean that the place gets crowded. That said after about 17:30 it does quiten down and it then becomes a nice place to find a somewhere to eat. Rothenburg is not a very big place and the historic centre is small. There are quite a few things to see dating from centuries past and the views from the remains of the old fortress over the Tauber valley are very picturesque. The hotel room we had was a fair way from reception up and down stairs and fortunately it had air conditioning, particularly as the temperature was over 30c when we arrived. The view from the room was over the river valley so excellent. Breakfast was in a room overlooking the river valley and the breakfast itself was very good.

Nothing much, hardest part was finding the car park

The view from the breakfast area is outstanding. Seating at large window looking out over the city wall and great views of the site wall itself. Staff was very accommodating and helpful. Laura went out of her way to assist us.

We asked if hotel had a lift when we booked as stairs are extremely difficult for my wife. They answered yes which is technically correct. However there are stairs that still must be taken to get to your room. Not too many but it’s important to let the guest know in advance. The only reason we didn’t rate it 10 is not because of stairs but because they need to explain the lift limitation.

Along the Tauber Bike Trail with good inside secure bicycle storage . Reception helpful and friendly. Immediately in City Center . No restaurant on-site but very close to at least 10 or 15 good restaurants. Room classic , old, pleasant and very clean . Bathroom modern with great tub and shower. Breakfast in a bright sunny room overlooking the a Tauber Valley was plentiful with numerous hot and cold choices. Fan in room if needed for warmer weather

Couldn’t check in until 16:00 which makes a bit of a difficulty when biking

One can real feel the rich history of the hotel, with its splendid foyers. They pay homage to their heritage: every room has a sign mentioning its famous guests, covering several centuries. The dinning room has an amazing view from the top of the hill over the valley. The breakfast buffet is also quite exquisite compared to other hotels. There's also a gaming room for kids and adults alike.

Traversing the corridors, you'll encounter several odd stairs or steps. Typical of older buildings, but to maneuver with suitcases.

I loved this old-fashioned small hotel. The location can't be beat--best view of the Plonlien, but not too noisy overnight. Also the parking was exceptionally handy for such a prime location inside the walls. I loved that our room was unique. It was also surprisingly spacious for an older hotel. Very complete breakfast options in a beautiful room overlooking the Tauber Valley. My pic of the Plonlein was taken from our window.

I really like the option to make a hot beverage in my room. This used to be common-place in Germany, but seems to be fading. Barring that, 24 hr access to hot beverages in the lobby would be nice.

The location is amazing next to the famous sight of Rothenburg :) It has a private car parking place, which is only 50 m away, that is a big advantage in such a center location. The view from the breakfast room is very nice. Breakfast is sufficient and it was interesting for us to see such a butter automate, but creative :)

There hasn't been a problem for us as the lady allowed us to check out at 12pm, otherwise it's at 11am and for a late checkout is asked for additional payment, it could be defined as 12pm in general.

We had 2 rooms: one with a view and one regular double. The one with a view had the most amazing balcony and view!! Wow! The room was a little "older" but very nice and had AC. The regular double room had a more modern bathroom but no AC and zero view out the window- actually looked at another building, but who cares?!?! It's Rothenburg and it's too lovely to spend much time in your room. The location was perfect perfect. And having private parking is a bonus!

The location is very convenient. The Hooray! goes to Katya, the lady in charge of the front desk. I got sick with a terrible migraine and all its consecuences. I was feeling really bad and Katya made me a chicken soup with rice. That made me feel so much better. I have not enough words of gratitude for her. Good custumer care, Katya!!!

The room was not comfortable at all. The furniture was a cheap closet and two patio chairs. The bathroom did not have any space whatsoever to put our toiletries and the shower glass door was so short that there wasn't enough space to take a shower and the water spilled on to the floor. The towels were too thin.
