K+K Hotel Opera

Excellent location in the centre of Budapest. Walking distance to main sights, public transportation (metro, trams) at the corner. Friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast. Own garage. Our first choice when we return to Budapest.

Adventurous entry to the garage and namely its 2nd level. Great location outweighted that though.

The location is superb. Literally by the Opera House, and very close to the main Basilica, while the Andrassy road leads you straight to the heart of Pest in a short walk. I had never heard of the K+K chain before so was expecting something local and perhaps a little esoteric. The side street location could have led me to think I was right. But inside the hotel is a sparkling vision in white with welcome AC relief from the heat outside. The staff were friendly and helpful from the outset, and throughout my stay. Two stories to give you an idea of how good they are. On my first full day I popped out to try to buy shorts and sun cream. I was out for no more than 30 minutes before I returned. In that time my room had been serviced. Superb and unobtrusive on their part. Story 2. I went to a wedding on the Saturday night, about 30 mins outside of Budapest. We had no problem getting there by taxi, but as we tried to get a cab at 12.30am there were no cabs to be had. Bolt, the main Uber-style firm, either had no cars anywhere near us or none prepared to come out to us. We phoned a number of firms, and had no luck. As a last resort at 1.15am I rang the hotel for suggestions. The receptionist suggested two firms. We drew a blank with the first, but the second was able to get a car to us in 15 minutes. I love that a helpful and knowledgeable member of staff helped a wonderful day to end on a high rather than a low. The room was a nice size, very clean and comfortable. The bed was a little soft for my personal taste but I know that everyone is different.

This is the only negative: There are no plug sockets by the bed. This for me is a fundamental in a modern hotel. If you go to bed at night, put your phone on to charge with the alarm on, you want the phone next to you. If you've had a long day and want to flop on your bed and look at the pictures from the day or plan the next day on your phone, you don't want to have to sit by a desk because you are low on battery. There were lamps either side of the bed, so there is power available. A little work would make a big difference to your guests.

There’s so much I liked, I don’t know where to begin. It’s in the perfect location - right next door to the Opera House with Andrássy Avenue 1 minute walk (upmarket shops) and the Jewish Quarter about 5 minutes away. The hotel is modern, staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are large. I arrived very early and they were happy to keep my luggage. They gave me suggestions of where to go. The bedroom was a decent size. I had complimentary water, and a kettle and tea/coffee. There was a safe in the room. The bathroom had a modern walk in shower. I loved everything about this hotel. It made me feel safe. Being central, transport options are great. There are bikes and scooters to hire literally just outside the hotel. There are restaurants nearby and a Spar. This hotel is in an excellent location.

Nothing. I didn’t eat at the hotel so can’t comment on the facilities or breakfast.

Fantastic location right by the Opera in the centre of town. We appreciated the extra large, comfortable bed and were very impressed with the overall service in the hotel - on one occasion we called reception to request an iron and it arrived within minutes. Buffet breakfast was also great. Always a bonus to have a (small) fridge in the room.

When we arrived there were a couple of items belonging to the previous guests in the fridge. On one of the days the bin in the room wasn't emptied during the daily clean.

Gallery bar/restaurant had a good menu with high quality food. The hotel location was the road over from Andrássy Street, so a great location in the city. The beds and pillows were excellent - very comfortable. Staff were very helpful.

The bathroom was a bit dated - old shower curtain and threadbare towels. The room (on the 6th floor) could be noisy at any point from early in the morning until late at night - loads of stomping and banging around coming from the floor above. The carpet in the main room looked a bit worn and dirty.

I never quite understood Hungarian money but it seems that the one time I had breakfast it was overpriced.

Great location, right next to the metro station and less than five minutes walk to St. Stephen’s Basilica. Very peaceful and beautiful neighborhood with the Opera house literally next door and a super market two minutes away. Small bistros and pizza restaurants very close too. The room was very clean and cozy with great lightning and an extremely comfortable bed with huge (4) pillows. Breakfast was pretty good and the staff very pleasant. Good value for money. I’d definitely recommend it.

Nice hotel. Staff was kind and helpful. Rooms were clean.

The gym was too small and not useful for us.

Air conditioning is very poor ! Booking: take it into account. Narrow slot at the window top was just little better than the air condition. The choice was either A/C or window. As the window was open the A/C stopped ! A variety of breakfast choices could be better ! The room we ordered had to be upgraded because everything was not spacy enough for ladies in the bathroom. After getting the next size up it was pleasant but still A/C was useless ! And really HOT !

Next time we will take care to make sure that these issues will not happen again. The mattresses kept sliding away from each other !!!

My second stay at the hotel was great, same as the first one. Hotel has a great location right next to the opera, just few meters from the metro station, Karaván and other famous places. No idea about the breakfast though.

Check-in could be a little smoother, maybe with some kind of online check-in option. Otherwise there is not that much to improve. This is great price for value for people who want to be close to the city centre.
