As a solo traveller, I loved that the hotel was so close to downtown reykjavik and the BSI bus station for tours. The staff were so lovely and welcoming, even when I was stuck for something to do due to my tour being cancelled, they offered friendly advice. They really made me stay special! The hotel is so relaxed and I love the old art gallery feel. The solo rooms are great for solo travellers with a huge balcony at the top where you can actually meet other travellers too! Great view as well. The bathroom comes with soaps, shampoo and conditioner so no need to worry about that. Its only a 5 min walk to the centre, i pretty much walked most places as its an ideal location. I'd happily recommend this hotel to my friends! A fabulous stay!!

Really liked this hotel as it had such a good vibe, with friendly staff, and some lovely areas for sitting close to the reception area. Our hotel room was comfortable too. It was located within easy walking distance (about 10 minutes) from the main bus terminal (BSI) where you catch the airport bus, and about the same distance from City Hall bus stop where a lot of tours leave from. This was handy because tourist buses are not allowed to pick you up from hotels in many areas close to the city centre. Breakfast was good with hot and cold options. Great number of English-speaking TV channels than some other hotels we've stayed at too.

No toilet brush. Is this a new trend or something? If so, please rethink it. Personally, I find it anxiety producing not to be able to clean up my own mess (not that I make them often), but eating different foods when travelling can sometimes produce unexpected results. Note that this is the only reason I gave a reduced rating on the comfort category.

the art collection. Location. breakfast buffet. very friendly staff, desk clerks.

Except for a couple nights the bar and restaurant were closed due to a city-wide strike of hospitality/hotel/ restaurant employees & truck drivers. not hotel’s fault. they didn’t close and worked very hard to host us as originally planned before strike. we just missed having the hotel bar open which is quite cozy and they did feature a jazz trio for 1 hour one evening & place was packed! also, housekeeping was short staffed but the hotel managed very well considering.

Cute little boutique hotel with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Location was perfect walking distance for accessing buses, bars, restaurants and sightseeing in the city. Our hotel room was spacious and clean, with the surprise of a standard bathroom with shower and a separate room with a bathtub for soaking. Beds were comfortable and the hotel was very quiet. Highly recommend! We would definitely stay there on any future trips to Iceland!

Absolutely nothing the we did not like about this property

Lovely sized room (308), with a nice view of the quaint street at the front, well appointed. Only a 7 minute walk to the BSI Bus terminal (buses do not pick up or drop off from outside this hotel). 4 minute walk right into the heart of Reykjavik city centre. The hotel it'self has a lovely, old world, cosy feel. All the staff we encountered were incredibly friendly and helpful. Charming breakfast/dining room, with a good selection. The hotel has a cosy lounge area with log burner to relax around. This was our 5th stay in Iceland, we would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I have nothing negative to say about Hotel Holt, but the next comment is worth noting. Obviously the world has been hugely impacted by Covid restrictions over the last 2 years - all restrictions in Iceland had been lifted during this visit (18th -22nd March 2022). However, there were still a lot less tourists around than there have been in the past - this is just an observation. Every time we have visited in the past, Reykjavik has been packed with visitors. I hope that the tourist industry in Reykjavik bounces back quickly.

Perfect location close to the City Centre yet very quiet at night. Friendly staff, good breakfast, spacious room with a living room, a coffee machine, nice view, beautiful lobby and most importantly they have their own parking lot. It’s my 4th time staying in Reykjavik and it’s by far the best. Definitely a repeat for me and would recommend it to my friends and family.

The location is perfect for exploring Reykjavik on foot. It's within easy walking distance of Harpa, as well as trendy restaurants and boutique stores. What's more, it's on a quiet street. The breakfast buffet was a great way to start the day. Our light-filled room was on the fourth floor and had a view of the city center's Tjornin Pond.

The room was a bit stuffy and there's no cross-ventilation to get air moving. The hotel could use a bit of sprucing up.

Location was easy 10-minute walk from BSI bus terminal (we took Flybus from airport). And great for getting to Hallgrimskirkja or the concert hall/harbor area. BSI is also departure point for many bus tours. Lots of restaurants and shops just a couple of blocks away but hotel is on a quiet street. Room was comfy and warm (#315). Wifi worked in the room. Breakfast was included and complete (warm and cold foods plus some Icelandic specific items). We would stay at Hotel Holt again.

Bathroom was quite small though the shower was large enough. Room wasn’t large either but we were okay with that for the three nights we stayed. We could hear our neighbors through the walls but they went to bed similar to us so it wasn’t disruptive to sleep. The hotel bar has limited hours (but the desk staff were able to get us beer or wine nonetheless). We had USB ports on our nightstands but heard that some rooms did not.

The junior suite was quite spacious for our family of 3 adults, with one of us using the sofa bed in the living room. The main bathroom was by the entrance. The second bathroom, attached to the bedroom, was convenient even though it only had a bathtub with no shower curtain, and no sink or toilet. Beds were comfortable. Bathrobes and slippers were provided. The suite and all the public areas in the hotel were clean and tidy, although some of the furniture looked a bit tired. The general decor of the hotel was old-fashioned charm. Complimentary tea, coffee, water and cookies were provided in the lobby at all times. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. I emailed them prior to my visit with some questions, and they promptly replied. We arrived Reykjavik early morning from Canada on a red-eye flight. The hotel was sold out the night before, so early check in wasn't an option. We were able to use the restroom in the bar/lounge area to refresh ourselves. The staff stored our luggage for us while we started exploring Reykjavik. The hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood, just 5 minutes' walk to Rainbow Street and the shopping area. We left our windows open at night and there wasn't any issue with street noises. Free on-site private parking is available which is a bonus, and one of the reasons why I booked this hotel. The breakfast buffet, at 19 Euro per person, was reasonably priced and offered a nice selection of hot and cold items. I won't mind staying here again in my future visits.

WiFi was a bit spotty in our bedroom but worked well in the living room. Not a big deal.

Unfortunately, we were only able to stay in Reykjavik for 2 nights, and decided to not take advantage of the breakfast, so I can't comment on that. What I can say is, the location is great for walkability. The room was nice, and had a long balcony. I also loved the artwork. I really liked the general vibe of this hotel. I couldn't quite tell if it was hip by accident, or if it was designed that way, but it definitely has a confident, nordic - retro "coolness" to it. The lounge spaces off the lobby / reception were very cool, and suggested you get a glass of sipping whisky and a cigar, and tuck in for a couple of hours with a good book. My only regret is that I was only there for such a short time, that I wasn't able to have that experience. The staff was very friendly, and happy to offer recommendations if asked. The other thing worth noting is that the Holt is a 10 min walk to BSI (Bus Terminal), where most people connect to and from the airport via the Flybus. Very convenient.

No complaints, really.
