Hotel Ódinsvé

The location was perfect and the staff were so friendly. The bed was very comfortable and I had a nice view from my window. I would definitely stay here again.

There were some features that were dated, like having an actual key for the door. But I found it pretty charming. The water in the shower did smell like sulfur, as another review mentioned. And breakfast was not included in the price. However I think that overall, based on the location and price, these things can easily be overlooked.

Clean, great location, friendly staff, slightly early check in was available (showed up about an hour before normal check in). Easily walkable to many main attractions and taxis (when called) arrive in 1-2 minutes. Room was clean, especially bedding which is a must for me. I had a corner room with two sets of windows, which was quite nice. Room was also quiet.

Bed was actually weirdly soft/cheap. Linens were nice, as was comforter, but it was strange to have such a soft bed (like you could feel the springs). The room itself was very nice and a reasonable size but the bathroom was TINY. I couldn't reach the trash because it was wedged in a corner between the toilet and the sink and I couldn't step between the two. Shower right next to sink. That said the bathroom was clean. Finally, carpet in hallway smells a little funny/would recommend that they put in non-carpet alternative (but I understand that that might increase noise in hallway).

We arrived early and were struggling to solve another booking problem. The staff immediately helped by making a phone call for us, and then offered us an upgrade to a room that was available right away so we could make some calls. The room was beautiful, quiet, and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was tiny, but manageable. Location is fantastic, off the main tourist strip in a residential area, facing a lovely little square that filled with tables for the warm evening. Easy access to everything on foot.

There is construction work going on, and the water stopped running in the middle of my shower. Staff were apologetic, and the water returned later with no further upsets. Not a usual occurence I'm sure.

We had a great stay at the Hotel Odinsve. This is a very nice property in a convenient location walking distance to dining, shops, and waterfront. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful overall... there was one male front desk person that wasn't very nice both days of our stay but everyone else was wonderful. They very graciously agreed to store our bags while we hiked Hornstrandir Preserve before our stay with them. I thought that was extremely nice of them. The breakfast buffet was one of the best on our trip. Highly recommend.

The bed was really comfy and the room was bigger than I was expecting. The location was great, right around the corner from the Main Street, so being a solo traveller I felt very safe and able to walk there and back fine. The staff were also all very friendly at the reception. Would recommend or return again.

The hotel was quite old and so the rooms could have been a little more modern, but there was nothing particularly wrong with them. It would have been nice to have a safe in the room as well.

My wife and I loved our stay here. The staff was super helpful and accommodating, everything was very clean, and the in-house restaurant provided a very nice breakfast as well. This hotel also has a great location in the city. I also have to once again thank Gunnar from the front desk. He helped my wife and I out a few times, including going out of his way to help us with an early check in (which we thoroughly appreciated after an all night flight). We highly recommend this hotel!

The location of the property was perfect. walking distance to everything. There was inexpensive parking nearby for our rental car. The staff were very friendly. We stayed for 3 nights then left to see other areas and returned for one final night. The room on our second time through was much nicer and I assume I got an upgrade.

While the beds were comfortable, the pillows were not. Very lumpy in both rooms.

The location is excellent, 1 block from the main shopping street and several block from the main cathedral. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to several special requests for the room. The room was clean and updated with a comfortable bed. This was a perfect home base to sleep at night while exploring during the day. The bathroom was very spacious with a very large shower that easily accommodating 2 adults.

The bed was really big and super comfy and the pillows plump. The decor was scandi chic, technically basic but everything was to a high standard. The shower was really powerful. It had everything we required and expected. The staff were all very friendly; The receptionist booked a cab for us, and a box of chocolates and a card were left in the room for my boyfriends birthday. The price is incredibly competitive compared to similar hotels in the area, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and I'd recommend it to anybody looking to stay in Reykjavik. The breakfast is a little steep at £16pp but Reykjavik is an expensive city in general so for the convenience of just going downstairs to essentially have a fried breakfast ready for you it's not so badly priced, although there are several bakeries in the immediate vicinity that offer fresh pastries and coffees for less. We've seen people complain about noise from the restaurant, we stayed on the 3rd floor and the only noise we heard was from planes landing at the domestic airport nearby, which don't fly during the night so it wasn't an issue. The food that we tried in the restaurant was delicious, and the ambience of the place was really nice. We were able to leave our bags at reception after checkout before we were ready to get our airport transfer. For tours/excursions we found that Bus Stop 8 is the most conveniently situated when staying at Hotel Odinsve, just 2 minutes up the road next to Hallgrimskirkja.

There wasn't anything I didn't like exactly, I guess my only criticism is it would have been nice to have a mini fridge in the room to store the bits that we'd bought from the supermarket. We worked around this by leaving stuff on the window ledge with the window open and it worked fine.. the cleaners must have thought we were bonkers leaving a tub of Bertolli spread on the windowsill but it was genuinely still chilled and firm after 3 days of it being there! Saved us a fortune making our own sandwiches in the room to take on excursions.
