Walter Raleigh Hotel

Booking had advised that half board was included in the price however this was only for 1 night . The hotel indicated that the e-mail confirmation I received from them would have corrected this misconception ...however I did not see this highlighted anywhere ....I did not review the confirmation from the hotel prior to being informed that the package was only for 1 night ...however the food on offer was eexcellent and I was not too bothered by having to pay for the second dinner . This might not have been possible for other people !

The manager man that was on when I stayed was fair sound made great con and made it feel like home. Couldn’t meet a sounder man and the young blonde girl that was with his that night was very nice and very accommodating too…they should be looking for a big raise and I will be saying it to my contacts too.

Fabulous room, spotlessly clean overlooking the sea. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food in the bar was good, and the staff were very efficient and friendly. Bar was busy, but there w were lots of sraff on. Breakfast was good, nice array of fresh fruit. Usual full irish but could order off the menu. Overall, a good experience would return.

There could be a bit more sinage as in from car park into hotel Both days I returned before room was serviced, I was asked on both days if I wanted it serviced, 1st day I said yes, 2nd day didn't bother, staff were very nice, and did a brilliant job, but felt it should be done earlier in the day as a matter of course. This I feel is on management, not on the staff who were as I said very nice and did a good job.

First thing I noticed is the nice comfy bed and room temperature was spot on.. Slept like a log all the time! . As a regular in hotels and a traveller , I can say the hotel's beds was tops! Comfort is priority :) Staff were excellent! Very helpful and accommodating to our needs and special requests. Kudos to Ruth and Mike also. ☺

A room fridge please and a vault for personal items that are of value. . Perhaps I missed it.. These are just minor

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, who went out of their way to assist us. We arrived before our room (upgraded) was ready. We were given a voucher for refreshments whilst we waited, which was lovely. We came without a car, so we’re reliant on taxis and public transport. The helpful reception staff printed up timetables so we could get around. The breakfasts were absolutely fantastic and we were incredibly grateful when they opened up an hour early especially for us because we had an early Sunday flight. That is real service.

Breakfast was excellent. Very fresh breads, staff and service were very friendly and efficient. Dinner 🍽 was excellent. Menu offerings were varied and excellently presented, and very tasty. Our room was superb 👌,a little noisy from traffic, but ear plugs sorted that .overall the walter raleigh hotel was excellent and we've booked another stay for next month.

Very little could have been better. Just traffic noise with windows open,but temperature controlled fan kept the room cool with the windows closed, and ear plugs blocked noise anyway.

The breakfast itself (we have salmon and egg on toast) was terrific. as was the dinner the evening before. Room was small but clean and comfortable. This time not a hotel that claims bath and shower. But just a generous walk in shower (much better than having to hop over the bath side in order to take a shower, with all leaking water down the sides of the bath.). A lot of things were right when we stayed at this hotel.

the coffee was horrendous. we are avid coffee drinkers and the last 10 years Ireland have caught up with many other countries in regards to the quality of barista. Please any professional barista give some tips to this hotel. both evening and at breakfast coffee was abysmal.

The receptionist was excellent , he was very helpful . The food was lovely with quick service , Room was clean and comfortable expect for the fact it was small . The sea view was lovely. A lovely hotel overall . We will be back if we can request a more spacious room at same price

Less unnecessary furniture might free up some space as it was hard for two people to move around in the room and the bed is too small for two tall adults . but declutter the furniture to free up the little space there is would be my advice . Also at 8am breakfast was too late for us as we had to leave then to attend an unexpected funeral , when we consulted the brochure in room there was no option available for an early breakfast or room service which meant we had to leave hungry , this could be improved for future reference ., work on leisure facilities if expanding as a pool or gym is always an attraction to guests .Also an eztra shelf needed in bathroom as no where big enough to put anything such as a toilet bag etc . All great, here for the Ironman event and hotel adapted meal times to ensure they matched race start times. All staff really friendly and helpful. Dinner closed early on Sunday night which was a surprise given how long it takes to complete a full Ironman - they could have definitely increased sales had they been open. Really good sized rooms and flexible wth allowing race bikes in the room.

So expensive! But it was Ironman so I get it and the hotel was literally at the bike transition

We were down to compete in the ironman at the weekend and found the hotel to very suitable for this event. Location was perfect and the staff were able to accomdate us with an early breakfast. Exactly what we needed for the few days away. Room was cleaned each day and clean towels left. Staff were excellent.

Price was a bit steep but I can understand it was because of the event and limited amount of accommodation in Youghal itself so demand would be high
