Grand Hotel Savoia

Beautiful old grand hotel. Good bar and restaurant, also rooftop bar. Good location if you need to be near the train station, otherwise I would try a different area of town, we didn’t feel safe going out after dark.

We moved moved rooms to the top floor due to the noise of the water pipes from the floors above. Also you need to ask for the air on to be turned on in your room.

Definitely a cut above all other hotels we visited during this trip to Milan and Genoa. Hotel staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The room was spacious with plenty of space and electrical outlets, The pillows were normal sized and not the usual flat deflated ones we dread in Europe. The bed was a king and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with a very wide variety of food. One does not get the feeling of being nickeled and dimed to death over every little item. The key was a normal digital one and not an ancient ball and chain variety to be turned in at the front desk. The train station is literally across the street and yet the room even on floor 1 was very quiet. The lobby area has classic comfortable rooms for conversation.

I can't think of anything. I wish we had stayed here longer.

The room was great, 2 small balconies to stand on and look over the square. The large bed was very comfortable and pillows suited us perfectly, it was a medium-firm mattress and pillows were either down or memory foam. The breakfast was fantastic, just about everything you could possibly want. Location was amazing, right next to Genova Piazza Principe station, you can get to just about anywhere from your doorstep. The staff were brilliant, patient while listening to (and understanding) my broken Italian and understanding English when I struggled. Very helpful through the entire stay. The guys on the bar make an excellent cocktail and know exactly what they are doing.

Great location for access to the station and airport, and not too far from the old town and attractions. The bar was fantastic in the evenings, with great cocktails and snacks. The rooftop panoramic view was great for a drink in the evening too. Fab cafe nearby for breakfast.

The room was smaller than expected for the price we paid, and the breakfast was definitely not good value for money - we paid €22 each for the first day and the ‘hot’ food was cold, with very few options. Better to find a cafe nearby. Upon arrival the reception staff weren’t the most helpful or welcoming, but not rude.

We chose this hotel for its style and facilities; we wanted some rest and relaxation so the room and spa were very appealing and did not disappoint. It is very conveniently located near the bus and train stations; great for the airport shuttle (only 20 minutes) and the sightseeing bus. Friendly staff from arrival; clean and very well presented room; great continental buffet breakfast and terrace restaurant located on the top floor with city views. Perfect for couples; we will be returning.

Very nice and comfortable room which we found extremely quiet. Incredibly convenient having valet service for parking the car. All the staff were friendly, professional and really helpful. We enjoyed our one night here and will be back when we next stay in Genoa.

The phone and air conditioning didn't work and there was nothing left in the room (bowl, toy and treats) for our dog which we were told there would be, Everything was resolved satisfactorily but in a hotel of this level we were surprised ghat general checks hadn't picked up the air conditioning/phone issues.

Beautiful building, foyer, piano bar. Really nice first impression. The breakfast was great. Plenty of choice. The staff were very friendly and really helpful. Location ideal. Rooms were well equipped; slippers, robe, mini bar etc. Ticks a lot of boxes but there is room for improvement.

As other reviews point out, the hotel is dated in parts. The bedroom was disappointing after the great first impression on arrival. New curtains and soft furnishings in the bedrooms and dining room would go a very long way in giving the place a much more luxurious feel. More 4 stars than 5 in my opinion but in saying that it seemed like the top end of hotels the city so we were happy we chose to stay here and would definitely stay again.

Absolutely amasing place, with its history, rooms are spacious, bathroom is just exeptional, you feel yourself a princess in this hotel, a bar downstairs is a piece of art, the barmen was very kind offering us a very good wine, breakfast is served in a beautiful hall full of light. Pity we stayed one night only, wish i can come back.

The girls at the reception were overwhelmed, so it was a bit slow to checkin and checkout, but everything else was absolutely gorgeous

An exquisite art nouveau property where attention to every historic detail has not comprised today's comfort requirements. Taking coffee or aperitivo in the grand lounge was like being in a movie about elegant Italian dukes and royalty at the turn of the 19th century. I liked the individual aircon settings and the bath was large enough to float in. A delicious breakfast with hot and cold choices was served in a magnificent dining room. The hotel is next to the central station and close to palazzo museums.

The hotel did not have a restaurant open for the off season and the choice of quality restaurants nearby is very limited.

i am a big fan of old style grand hotels, and this nicely maintained one fit the bill. The staff was lovely, the foyer with its bar was a great place to relax, and the hotel restaurant was more than decent. Across from one of Genoa’s main train stations, it was also very convenient for getting in and out of town.

oddly, the closeness to the Principe Station is also a minus, as one has to walk for quite a ways to get to some of the nicer areas of this generally very gritty city. Walking back through the streets at night one really has to be used to a certain kind of city life. I am, but I would prefer to feel a tad less on edge when I am on vacation. For some people, this hotel might seems a bit too off the beaten path. It’s not close to many nice cafes or restaurants, for instance. But we were willing to trade that for the place itself and the station. Still, next time I might consider staying closer to Brignole if I want to be near the train.
