The Rucksack Caratel

The place is very conviniently located by Dutch square, few steps away from all then lovely walks. Ideal position for strallimg round lovely Melaka. The rooms are tiny, but as shown in the pictures. Rooms with a garden view are a big plus.. The staff is friendly and for evening book reading/socializing, you can use the convenient outside area round the pool. Good place for a few nights stay.

My aircon was making very loud sounds even if turned off and a kettle had some trouble. nothing that would not be easily fixed. And the staff seem to appreciate me reporting :) So I gues it was something not common.

Our stay at the rucksack was very nice. The hotel is super comfortably situated, only a few minutes walk into the city center but still 'far away' so it isn't loud at night. The room was spacious and clean. The pool is very nice and refreshing. The staff is friendly.

There is nothing really to complain about rather some explanations why we did not give the full 10 points. The surroundings of the pool could be improved by adding some trees to provide some shade and make it a bit prettier in general. The rucksack in general needs some more attention to detail to update it for example the wallpaper was coming off on some walls.

Arrived late, thankful that the staffs waited for our arrival. ☺️ Got an upgrade to the room with jacuzzi. Both husb and son love it! Love everything about the room. Spacious and love the view. Walking distance to Jonker St.

I like the room even tho it looks small but it was quite spacious for us and also we can just walk from the hotel to the Jonker Walk which is a few minutes away and we saved a lot of time by avoiding commute there by car.

The car park is quite limited but we did found a place to park our car near the hotel.

The value for money was wonderful! My room was huge and so clean, with amazing facilities including a jacuzzi. The bed was so comfy and I slept incredibly well. I loved the vibe of the hotel - the reception area was down to earth and chill, somewhere we were happy to hang out in. The staff were so helpful, especially when our flight was cancelled and we needed to use their phone (our phones weren't connecting with the helpline). Smooth check in and check out process. The main area of Melaka was in walking distance which was also so handy and yet it was still tucked away in a quiet location! Great there was a pool too - perfect for cooling off on the humid days!

The wifi was a little patchy, but ultimately it wasn't that big a deal! Otherwise it was a very comfortable stay.

The bedsheet and towels are not clean. The towels have worn and with holes.

I loved the floor to ceiling glass windows and view of the gardens in the room. The sounds of nature in the morning was lovely. The bed was really comfortable and the hot shower was great.

I stayed on the weekend so Sunday night was quite noisy with loud music close by until about 11pm. The hand soap also wasn’t attached the wall properly so kept falling off when I used it. I also didn’t realise there were electric sockets underneath the kettle in the middle of the room!

Really cool decor and vibe, very welcoming. Great location, easy to walk to attractions and restaurants. Staff are friendly. The room is a good size and we had a nice view of the garden. The bed is nice and firm, and comfy to sleep in. The pool area is nice. There is filtered water in the lobby. The room has coffee, tea and nice toiletries.

Cleanliness of bathroom could be improved but not bad. Also, the pool faces an abandoned building, I don't know why the hotel doesn't replace the fence or add some artificial hedge or something so it's less visible. Also would be nice to have a mini fridge in rooms.

We initially booked for 3 nights however since we liked the location and swimming pool so much, we have decided to extend our stay (our room was unfortunately available only for one extra night - we could definitely stay longer). The staff was very friendly and helpfull. Our room was clean with lot of daylight. The hotel is very centrally located - just few minutes walk to the Stadthuys but still very peacefull.

The only thing that could improve would be the internet connection as it was very intermittent.

1. Rooms are clean. 2. Receptionist was helpful. 3. The location is central, and all main attractions are within walking distance. 4. Theme of the place is good.

Caravan style room was dark and small. It's great if you are a solo traveler but not ideal for couples or families. We changed the room on the second day to a second-floor room with windows. There was no difference in the price, but I had to pay a city tax of 22 MYR.
