Authentic Mexico at its finest! We loved absolutely everything about our stay here. We are travelers who prefer the real deal over manufactured comfort for tourists. So, this authentic former residential apartment property was perfect for us. If we have the opportunity to stay in Mazatlan again, we wouldn't hesitate to book here again. We did have a car, so it was easy to get to the other beaches. We loved the historic district, but it's not as close to the more popular beaches if that's important to you.

The only thing that I wasn't accustomed to was the lack of natural light. To keep things cool and private in Mexico, you gotta keep it dark and enclosed. There were plenty of electric lights, of course. Our room was also right on the courtyard. With 24 units, I imagine there were other apartments situated differently on the property that had more light.

A great apartment (more like a hotel with a kitchenette). Perfect location - a 30-second walk to a great cafe, a 1-minute walk to Plaza Macahdo and all its restaurants, a 5-minute walk to the beach with Olas Altas and the Malecon, and a 15-minute walk over to the Zona de Oro - where all the beach resorts and oceanfront seafood restaurants are. The staff at Villa Sirena was peaceful, always smiling and attentive. Very relaxing place to stay while allowing you to see the three best parts of Mazatlan by walking with no need to get in the car.

Marta was a fabulous hostess and great help!! This is not a hotel, it’s small apartments, so no 24 hour reception, but Marta was there to greet me when I arrived. Be sure to send your arrival time through Booking so you have that same wonderful service. Spotless, darling apartment. Great terraces, sweet garden, patio very safe with the gate in front. Loved it!

Arriving at night and having no drinking water in the apartment wasn’t great. Marta had water brought up in the morning, 10/20 gallon (?) (big jug!) with a spigot thingy for 50 pesos.

The location is great. Staff were amazing from the first touch, my husband had an online meeting, they let us have an  early check in . Wasn't expecting 40 units!! Did not at all felt crowded to me. Maybe because we were on the third floor above the jacuzzi but still.Room was pre cooled, so it was nice, clean and cozy. no cooled water thou.Nice little pool, great for cooling down.

No parking or arrangements with close by day or night pensions, even though we were lucky to find parking at nights and following days, we were not the first day at our arrival. An exterior shower for the pool would be nice and a downstairs public bathroom, we were on the third floor and going up and down with a stroller was quite a challenge (when asked or if they see you around, staff is alwas happily willing to help)

Villa Serena was a great discovery. A lovely community of guests, which was a very pleasant surprise... friendly and helpful while being non-intrusive. The staff and owner were also very friendly and helpful. We loved the Mexican decor and style... this apartment grouping has clusters of apartments on different floor levels, with interesting staircases and pathways and various foliage, and a central courtyard, all behind an unobtrusive gate which provides security and privacy. A peaceful spot, yet it's easy to get out and walk to nearby plazas or catch taxis or pulmonias to farther destinations.

Our particular apartment is apparently one of the newest (one bedroom with king), so it may still be in the process of getting more furnishings. It could use a small table in the kitchen/living room. The narrow counter/island didn't really give us a place to easily sit to eat home-cooked meals.... it wasn't a problem, though, as we often sat out on the balcony. Just a suggestion. We loved the apartment.

The proximity to many attractions and restaurants. Location was key for us and availability of transportation was easily accessible. We would've liked a first level unit rather than walk up the stairs, but very quiet property.

The bathroom could be updated as well as other ammenities in the kitchen such as dishwashing soap, water jug, bedroom service automatically every day. We felt safe throughout but a safe for valuables would be nice.

I loved this hotel so much I wrote a blog about it. It's a whole lovely experience. I had dinner in the dining room overlooking the garden. My friends came to visit me in the salon, and a staff member helpfully suggested we retire to the garden, which was lovely. Only thing was I couldn't concentrate on the conversation because I was thinking of the REAL bathtub in the room (it had armrests). My room was large, with REAL furniture, lots of wood (in Mexico!). Breakfast was lovely and I overheard other guests talking about how much they'd enjoyed their stay. I told my friends that whenever I came to visit them in Guadalajara, THIS was where they'd find me.

Nothing. It was perfect.
