Van der Valk Hotel Amersfoort A1

The hotel was in a great location for us as we travelled south from Emmerloord in order to be able to explore Utretch. Having arrived late, one of the receptionists was absolutely fantastic in helping us secure a table at the restaurant despite the kitchen being about to close. We were extremely grateful for the effort that she went to so to ensure we were able to eat.

The hotel is genuinely a very nice place, the rooms are nice, clean and perfect for an overnight stay. The location, next to the A1 motorway, is extremely handy and ensures a vast amount of places are commutable without vast amounts of driving. We did not have a bad thing to say about the hotel.

The warm welcome at the reception, this time from Ichaoula, is always great. Flexibility in the restaurant; Jip de Jong arranged on very short notice the reservation for 22 people for diner and the service and food during diner was very good. All in all just a very good experience made possible by the crew.

The cleaning of the room has been better in the past. We had to ask to vacuum the room one day.

The beds were very comfortable and clean, perfect for both me and my partner to sleep in. The bathroom was clean and had nearly everything we needed to stay there. Being able to control the lights and everything from the bed with a provided tablet was a very nice addition to the room.

Some basic things that we forgot would have been nice (like some toothpaste and a hair brush), as well as we found it a bit confusing how to make the stopper for the sink go down to drain the water (was behind the faucet took us a while). There were two beers in the fridge and two bottles of wine, we weren't sure if these were complimentary or we'd be charged a small notice saying so would be ideal. Just some nit-picky things, everything was great all in all.

Housekeeping & repair guy were excellent. Room (507) was super quiet & great darkening curtains plus comfy bed/bedding/pillows made for good sleep.

Small items for room 507: grab handle in shower has some sharp edges/corners & one of us cut an arm. Frig wasn't working, had to be replaced (which they did immediately).

The room was perfect and comfortable. The minibar could have just water since people are not used to drinking tap water in other countries. The reception from the staff was super amazing. I did not make it for breakfast but there was an alternative.

It is difficult to find a problem. Everything is near perfect. Breakfast starts at 07:30 during the weekends but for early people that is a bit late. That should not change just because of a few people. Maybe just good coffee from 7 am is an alternative.

Breakfast was really good, especially the "dutch" omelette. The cook guy was friendly and I appreciated that. Room was nice and very quiet though the hotel was surrounded by 2 motorways. Nice lobby. Employees were kind and helpful. Would recommend it.

Did not know how to use the electric chargers. No explanation given.

It is like coming home! Since we moved abroad we stay here every year for a week to visit family and friends. Great staff and very cosy place. Good food, breakfast is excellent and staff is super friendly!

This time we needed to change rooms, because we were next to the door which was very noisy. But the staff was very quick to help and support us.

The breakfast was good, love the variety of food, the view was amazing (our room was on the top floor), and the location is great. The reception personnel, a lady, who checked us out that morning was very helpful.

The staff are friendly, the breakfast is very good, but it left something to be desired because I asked for a child's crib for the room and they didn't put the crib.

For a mid range hotel, it was like a high level one. Room had everything you could want, restaurant food was superb, ate there twice. Overall décor and facilities and ambience were just brilliant, will be staying here again for sure.
