Clico Boutique Hotel

There are many things about Clico hotel that are positive - the best being the staff. Peggy and the team were very helpful, polite and attentive to our needs. Peggy was very helpful in offering advice for exploring safely around Johannesburg. Our taxi shuttle service from the airport to the hotel was well organised and our driver Dan was very pleasant. The food was delicious, especially the cooked breakfasts. The location is perfect, it is safe area and we felt comfortable walking to and from the hotel to the local mall for restaurants and shops. The room was very smart, clean and elegant, especially for the price, it was fantastic value for money. If you want a more characterful and comfortable place to stay in Jo'burg that is not a carbon copy chain hotel, then I highly recommend Clico Hotel.

It is an excellent Boutique Hotel, with a fine dining restaurant. The linen is clean and crisp. The mini fridge was stocked with drinks and treats. There was lovely filter coffee (plunger) and fresh milk for our morning coffee. It was stage 6 loadshedding during our stay - and their (relatively quiet for its size) generator kicks in automatically fairly quickly and can run the entire hotel, including all the aircons. They don't have many rooms - so the hotel was quiet, there was plenty of parking, and we could truly rest and relax in luxury.

They were busy with renovations during our stay which we didn't know about in advance but this wasn't disruptive at all. At least they are busy with upgrades and improvements. They can perhaps

The location is perfect. Accessible to everything, however quiet enough that you don't hear anything during the stay. The restaurant and the food were the highlights for me. The staff are excellent and so friendly. It's a quaint hideaway perfect for a weekend getaway.

We traveled with a 2 year old, and there isn't much to entertain him. The resort is also small, and there wasn't much yard space for him to play outdoors, either. So the time we spent at the hotel he had to stay indoors. The bar fridge being placed inside the cupboard is not an ideal place. It brought out unwanted "visitors"

From the moment we arrived the hostess, Peggy, was amazing and made us feel at home. She made sure we were comfortable and gave us an informative briefing of the room and facilities. The room was spacious and very well equipped. We loved the venue and the warmth thereof. Great location and close proximity to Sandton City. Breakfast spread was beautiful and the restaurant area tasteful and cosy. Additional breakfast mains could be ordered from the a la carte menu (included). This took a bit longer than expected, but was delicious. Loved Clico and will be back.

It is centrally located in upscale Rosebank. easy Uber ride to museums and walkable to African arts & craft center at the bottom of Rosebank mall. Breakfast is included and there is a delicious buffet spread AND a menu to order from. They aim to please and will customize your breakfast to your liking. Front desk staff are knowledgeable and will help you organize your outings and transportation.

Rooms are very small- better for a solo traveler than a couple.

We stayed here 3 years ago and wanted to try the tasting dinner with wine pairing again. It didn't disappoint and is highly recommended. We also had 2 nights in the hotel., The staff were all excellent but the rooms need a little TLC, electric plug coming off wall, half jammed dirty blinds in bathroom, marks on the paint work, turn down service and chocolate the first night , nothing the second. Pool out of action (due to rain -not hotels fault but maybe they should change layout of garden to prevent spillage)and only one umbrella to sit and read under for all guests. Small things but we both agreed we have stayed in better -apart from tasting dinner!!!

What a nice little gem to stay in and relax. All amenities right on site so you do not have to leave. The chef was absolutely incredible with his service and menu. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner here. All the staff was so nice and accommodating. Our room was huge with a really nice bathroom and terrace overlooking the pool. Everything was very clean. Free parking right outside the front door. We stayed here for one night to rejuvenate before heading out on safari, it was perfect.

This place just has good energy. By far my favourite place to stay in Johannesburg. Comfortable beds, calm atmosphere, beautiful pool, and the best eggs benedict in the area all included in the price. If you're just arriving from a long haul flight and need a place to recover, the Clico is your go to.

Location is really good, just a few blocks from Rosebank mall which is perfect for the daytime. But even though it's so close, you may not feel totally comfortable walking back at night in the dark. I would walk there while it's light but get an uber or equivalent back when it's dark.

Breakfast was very good, very good selection of confectionary vs warm offerings. One small thing to note is that the bacon was burnt for all of us but other than that I was happy with everything, and the staff very great.

Our room (number 8) was located just outside the gate to the street. There was another door that could be locked, but we didn't have keys to it as we share access with the room above. Suggestion: provide keys to the outside door as well to the room owners so that those doors can be locked. Shower and bathroom was great, loved the shampoos and soaps - very clean etc. It would be helpful to know which direction to turn to get hot and cold - there is no indication of that, and the water takes quite long before you know you have the warm side turned on.

The location was perfect and central, the staff were AMAZING, very friendly, helpful, and authentic. Now I am not exagerrating, the best (and I mean literally the best) pizza my partner and I ever had. I still daydream about that pizza on the regular. Security is vigilant and consistent as well as really friendly. We've already decided, when we go back to SA that we'll stay at Clico.
