Gran Hotel Sol y Mar - Adults Experience

The quality of the hotel was very good. The room was large and had a stunning view. We picked a sea view room. You could have slept a whole family in the bed 😁. We only had breakfast at the hotel but again the quality and variety of the food on offer was excellent the only comment that does lower the score is the hot food was not hot but tepid. There was a microwave to reheat but I didn't have much of the hot food because the choice of cold food more than made up for that. Parking at the hotel is discounted but still pricey so you need to factor that into the cost of your trip. The hotel being adults only was a real boost for us. The staff overall were very good and by and large very well trained. Well done

The two main things I did not like were the checkin procedure. It was long and drawn out, why use one screen for details on the computer when four will due ☹️☹️ I do think they should look at it because we also checked in online but still had to go through the extended checkin procedure. There were building works opposite the hotel whilst it is not the hotels fault or within their control to affect it but if we had been informed we would have deferred our trip until it had finished. It was loud and did disturb our enjoyment of sitting quietly on the balcony looking at the view. So we will not be back until those works are complete.

Check in was painfully slow, especially after completing the booking.com pre arrival form on line. Total confusion when I tried to book drinks and food to my room despite leaving a deposit on arrival. No record of my deposit on check out despite showing receptionist the deduction on my credit card statement. Eventually sorted out.. No dedicated check out desk so got stuck behind the never ending check in process. It would be an amazing hotel if they could sort these annoying issues out..

Everything was Amazing. From check in to check out. We were able to check in early, our sea view room was Incredible and one of the best we’ve ever had. The room was so clean and comfortable. They included all the little things that make the room amazing, and gave us a bottle of Cava and welcome Drinks. The bed was so comfortable we slept like angels. And the staff were so helpful and nice. The pool was a great view, but very busy. It was great and chill though. The beach access is direct below and perfectly situated on Calpe Beach. The buffet breakfast was healthy and fresh. We went to the spa as well and it was pretty good. This was a perfect stay.

There is a little soccer park right below the rooms with young children screaming all day. But everyone has to Enjoy a vacation.

The hotel was in a great location by the seafront, shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. It had it's own underground car park (charges apply). Rooms were spacious and light with a good side view of the sea. The bed was big and comfortable and the bathroom large. The hotel restaurant had a very large buffet with plenty of different options to choose from at all meal times (breakfast also included complimentary Cava if you wished!). Although I had an issue in the breakfast room that needed resolving immediately, the hotel acted swiftly, compensated me with complimentary Cava & fruit in the room and invited my family to dine as their guests one evening. There was a great panoramic window in the lounge which was popular for guests to watch the sunsets.

Most of the food in the restaurant was lukewarm. It paid to pick items that were cooked fresh for you if you like hot food.

This is a stunning hotel made exceptional by every single member of staff we had contact with...they were all so, so kind and attentive to whatever we needed. From the moment we checked in to when we left, it made our stay one of the nicest we have ever had. The hotel is in a wonderful location but to be honest, if we had stayed in the whole time, I would have been just as happy!

Possibly one of the nicest hotels i have stayed in, and i have stayed in a lot over the last 20 years. The room was fantastic, the hotel staff were wonderful and the breakfast was without doubt the best ever. While having breakfast, the views of the beach were outstanding. If it's possible to arrive and just pay for breakfast i would certainly think about it, as i don't stay far away.

16:00 check in time would be my only negative view on this hotel.

Very good selection for both breakfast and evening meal. Incredible views from hotel. Our room was very spacious with a large terrace. We opted for a sea view, which was well worth it. The beds are exceptionally comfortable. Overall ambience of hotel is stylish and relaxing. Very helpful staff - any concerns were promptly dealt with. There is an attention to detail in the hotel - sleep spray in room, chocolates on arrival, etc.

Vegetarian hot meals only seemed to be available on request. Once these were provided they were excellent and wide ranging. Unfortunately, we had torrential rain, which caused two nights of leaks along our corridor and in our room. Again, this was quickly addressed when raised.

Excellent location to beach, bars & restaurants. Beach bar was great, good choice of food, drinks & nice to have music which added to the atmosphere. Rooms were comfortable with complimentary tea, coffee, water & a small selection of mini bar drinks. Comfortable bed, air conditioning & black out curtains were great!

Pool area was small for the size of Hotel, hence not enough sun beds to accommodate everyone. The lifts were a bit slow. A better selection of English TV channels would have been welcome.

Warm welcome from Stefan when we were waiting to check in - such a nice touch rather than leaving you just standing & waiting! The hotel is beautiful and so convenient for everything. Parking underneath the hotel (worth paying for to save looking for a space on the streets round about, and a supermarket accessible from the hotel lift. We stayed in a 9th floor suite, which had stunning views over the Calpe peninsula. The pool area is lovely - great food and drink available and the entertainment staff were fab. We didn't join on the pool activities but others did and seemed to really enjoy it. The guy paying the sax round the pool was fab. We'd definitely stay here again!

Nice pool area with good drinks and snacks. Very good food in the main restaurant. The Hotel had gone above and beyond and was very clean. Reception and waiters were always helpful, Multiple languages spoken. First class supermarket accessed from the hotel by a lift so very convenient. Same lift access to parking garage made our trip very easy.

We didn't like the queues at the main dining room on some evenings. I think they were under-staffed like a lot of hospitality at the moment. I've tried to think of something else, but there is nothing.
