Parador de Hondarribia

We are two cyclists on a ride from Cadiz to San Sebastian. Our needs are simple we seek a clean bed and a hot shower – the hotel provided both Reception was welcoming and helpful – We select the Parador chain for a touch of luxury and enjoy the lavish and expert restoration of historical buildings across Spain - here an old castle has two additional wings of new rooms with views into the courtyard and out to seas - located in the heart of the old town on top of a small hill Another one of the top 5 Historical locations in the parador chain - A great creative conversion of a stunning historical building Excellent in every way

Superb location with fantastic terrace views.

A choice of pillows. Bolsters are not suitable for everyone.

We loved our stay at the Hondarribia Parador. The location and views from our room were fantastic. Our room faced the water and such a joy to watch the sun rise over the water. The breakfast was generous too. We used the parking facility which was tricky to find and small spots but nice to have nearby.

The only complaint was the cushions on the seats in the breakfast room. They needed more stuffing.

Absolutely the loveliest accommodations we have had in Spain, as we have traveled all around the country. The staff went out of their way to assist whether we needed an early breakfast, restaurant recommendations, a taxi, or help arranging laundry services. We had a magical view of the river from our window seat in the very spacious junior suite. The sunrise was incredible. I cannot say enough positive things about this parador.

The only negative was location. Without a car it was about a 40-50 euro taxi ride to a bigger town such as San Sebastian or St. Jean de Luz.

The building is amazing and the rooms were very comfortable, Breakfast was excellent, eating outside in the courtyard. Staff were very accommodating and helpful with any questions we had.

The hotel is tricky to drive to (typical for hotels in the center of medieval cities). Navigating the narrow streets and restricted zones is a bit of a challenge. Parking is very limited and costs 15 euros a night. If no spaces are available you can drop off your luggage at the hotel, and then drive down to the bottom of the hill where parking is free.

The calm and beauty. The bathroom was large-- included toiletries, bathtub and bidet. The front desk service was excellent and I appreciate the opportunity to stay in the Parador.

The room was not as shown in the listing foto-- there was no sofa/living area. Although the breakfast selection was ample (including churros and hot chocolate), the service was not consistent. One day there was a menu, the next day not. On the first morning I never received my order of scrambled eggs.

The suite we had was spacious and comfortable. The view across the bay was wonderful

Parking was good for us but there is no facility for booking a space. As there aren’t enough spaces for rooms what happens if there are none left when you arrive? This uncertainty would prevent me from booking if I thought it might be busy. The bed was almost too hard for comfort.

It's only 15-minute walk from the Donostia Airport. The town is small, so we could walk almost all of the town enjoying the town view. The hotel is totally clean, with good atmosphere and gorgeous sea view. The staff are so kind friendly. It takes only 30 minutes by bus to Donostia, so we could easily enjoy the tourism there staying in this good parador.

The view, the history of the place, authenticity, location is great. For such a great place, the services can be improved for a more memorable stay. Any way I can never stay another place in my visits to Hondarribia.

We would appreciate, if, not a room service, rich mini bar for not to starve. Because everywhere closes very early around the hotel.

Loved learning about the history and staying in a castle! the courtyard is absolutely beautiful to have breakfast in and drinks at sunset on the terrace was breathtaking! perfectly located for old town and a short walk from all the restaurants and beach in town!

Could hear people coming back late at night. Also some people would leave their windows open when leaving their rooms which caused their doors to slam shut, with everyone on the floor hearing it.
