Hotel Mendez Nuñez

We contacted hotel before arriving about access to drop off cases at hotel as it is in a pedestrian only street. We were given very helpful instructions and nearest parking too. We stayed for one night. Our room was on the second floor was large with a good size bathroom with a bath and shower in the bath which was surprisingly good. Restaurant is on top floor but just had breakfast there which was good. Hotel is a perfect location as it is within the city walls and perfect for sightseeing, especially as we only had one afternoon/evening. Very lively/vibrant streets very near to hotel for a great evenings entertainment of food, drinks and people watching!

Other reviewers mentioned the hotel could do with an upgrade, I can see their point although for our one night it was perfectly fine for us and didn’t affect our stay in any way……and a good price too.

Bright airy room. Perfectly situated in centre of city. Parking within walking distance of hotel. Walking the complete Roman city wall. Staff very friendly and helpful. Close to bars and restaurants. And cathedral. Rooftop bar and restaurant.

Some of the furniture is a little worse for wear

It was conveniently located, clean, and the cleaning service was outstanding. Leave the room for an hour with a sign saying, please make up the room, and when you come back, it is done!

If you have a normal hearing, this may not be your first choice. A guitar playing troubadour takes his position underneath the hotel at about 7:30 in the morning every day then plays the same three chords, and the same to songs for hours. the street is quite busy, including in the middle of the night with merry makers and street cleaners. The hotel can do nothing about the latter all the one wonders why they don’t give the troubadour the big heave hoe.

Location near center and close to the town square and Roman walls. Good price/quality. Nice roof terrace. Friendly staff. Free parking outside walls.

In the middle if the city and our room was at the front side of hotel - so quite noisy, especially during weekends. City collects garbage at 3 AM and cleaning vehicles pass at 5 AM, which didn't help. Terrace at roof is nice place with good view but the food disappointing for the price.

Fantastic hotel, very spacious, cozy and great designed room, super comfy beds, clean! The view of my room was WOW… I requested for higher floor and sunny room, I got all that! Windows faced to the Cathedral!… Staff is professional. Wonderful roof top restaurant, abundant breakfast! A stayed there two nights, having my day off Primitivo walk, it was definitely , the best place on whole my Camino! If I pass through Lugo, I will stay there again! Highly recommend, 10/10!

After 10 days of sleeping in albergues, this is a definite treat you should indulge in. It is right next to the main plaza, and they have an amazing rooftop restaurant for your meals. The breakfast is well worth the cost - especially as you’re heading back on the Camino. We loved this place so much we decided to take a day off from walking and spend it in Lugo. The late checkout was phenomenal. It’s very clean, well appointed, and the staff speak great English.

Ideal location inside the Roman walls, on a pedestrian street one block off the Praza Mayor and minutes away from the cathedral. The rooms are well appointed with a nice bathroom and comfortable beds. Breakfast (extra) was served on the top floor terrace.

The room air conditioning was not working (dial stuck). I am not holding this condition against the hotel because the receptionist offered a different room with a functional AC. Corridors carpet needs upgrading.

Great location, very close to the Praza Maior and Cathedral, and the major sites. Spacious room with plenty of wardrobe space and hangers. Had lunch in the restaurant, food good quality and reasonably priced. Breakfast good value for money. Reception staff were very helpful and, retained luggage when room wasn't ready as we had arrived early.

Nothing much. Breakfast was very busy and a little chaotic, little social distancing possible. The, male waiting staff in the restaurant (at lunch time) could have been more attentive, as a result waiting times were longer than ideal.

Good location with easy access to sites and the bus station. Large, quiet room with a large bathroom. Air conditioning. Good breakfast with many choices.

Dark carpets on stairs and high-traffic areas.

The location was great, right in the centre of Lugo. We parked easily fairly nearby. The breakfast choices were great. The welcome from the staff with recommendations of where to visit were so helpful. The city walls walk was wonderful.
