Hotel Opera

The hotel is situated near the Madrid Opera and is within easy walking distance of the Royal Palace. There are nice restaurants, tapas bars, and even a launderette in the neighbourhood and the Opera metro station. We walked 25 minutes to the Prado museum, although you could take the metro and reduce your step count. The hotel is very nice inside with a restaurant and cafe. Our room was great with a nice bathroom. The staff are very helpful.

Our bedroom was a little beat up in places and the bathroom sink seemed to be partially blocked. The power outlet near the computer desk would not hold my laptop charger. The breakfast was quite expensive for what was offered.

This is a very central and convenient hotel especially if you are using public transport. It is only a 2 minute walk from the Opera metro station. The room was clean and well equipped and very comfortable. I must single out the front desk staff member, Fernando. He checked us in on our arrival and he was excellent, very friendly and welcoming and extremely helpful. He explained everything very well and gave us such good information with regards to getting around the city. He is an asset to this hotel.

Some of the bathroom fixtures are starting to look a bit tired and could do with some updating or replacing. A coffee machine would also be a welcome addition - these seem to be commonplace now at this level of hotel. The sound proofing is not great and we could hear a. lot of noise coming from the floor above.

Great hotel, had everything we needed for our trip, great location. Everything was in walkable distance from this location, Sol, grand via, palace, etc. even if some locations are 20 min or so walk it didn’t feel a long walk as there were many ppl are great shops around to look at while reaching the destination. Opera train station is the nearest station to the hotel. I didn’t know so I’m posting for others to help get to the hotel without getting lost :)

Loved every day at the hotel.

The location is excellent. Everything is within walking distance. Plenty of good eating places in the area. The staff is efficient and the breakfast food is good. They give two pillows, latex and goose down, so you can choose which one to use.

The toilet is located too near the sink, so when you sit you will be in a tight spot. No coffee and tea making facility. Being in central location also means it will be noisy despite the soundproof windows.

The location of the hotel is a short distance from the Opera metro station. It has an easy connection to Atocha Station and is within a short walking distance to the Royal Palace and the Cathedral with other sites being accessible by foot as well. I felt safe in the area. The staff were very helpful in extending my stay by a day and sorting out internal noise problems. The hotel and room were clean and comfortable and I had a good sized bathroom. There is a cafe next door which provides breakfast.

The soundproofing in the room I had was not so good. when the people next door went to sleep at 11.00pm the sound proofing was fine. However, on two nights the next room had the TV on and there seemed to be a number of people in the room with noise until about 5am. However, the hotel staff acted when I mentioned this on the third night and also offered to move me to a different room. Therefore the hotel staff will act on this issue.

The people first. The service was excellent and everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The accommodation. We had everything we hoped for. Super clean room and comfortable beds to sleep in after all the walking. Great location. Steps away from the Royal Palace. We spent 3 days in Madrid and from the hotel we walked everywhere. We would highly recommend Hotel Opera.

There was no such a thing.

First of all it was in a great location! In front of the metro and 2 minutes walk from the Royal Palace, shopping street and up to 10 minutes walk from other attractions. I have booked a single room and was given to me a double room, the staff was super friendly and helpfull, I had a problem with the AC and so they gave me a new room without any problem. It was a great stay, I will come back.

the website shows a picture of the terrace/ spa that is not applicable when you book a double room with spa Bath. this is very misleading !

The bedrooms were simple but very well appointed (eg well lit bathroom, hairdryers connected in bathroom, magnifying mirrors in bathroom etc) with comfortable beds. The triple room we booked for our three teenage sons was excellent with proper adult-sized beds. We arrived around midnight and were expected and welcomed. Breakfasts were good. The location of the hotel was excellent in the old part of the city and a great base for exploring. All the main attractions eg Royal palace, Prado museum, San Francisco cathedral, San Miguel market, temple of Debod and Retiro Park all within reasonable walking distance. Lots of restaurants and eating places nearby.

We enjoyed sitting outside to eat at the Cafe Opera but the service was slow and there did not seem to be enough staff. That said the food was good and reasonably priced.

Very good hospitable and service minded staff. The breakfast buffet is good value for money and it helps to keeps you energized during the day. The staff is very helpful if you have any questions and greet you with a smile. I'd be happy to come back and stay at Hotel Opera again

When I got back in the late evening for my 2nd night, there was a very irritating noise coming from the fusebox in the room. This kept me awake a bit during the night, but it was fixed very quick the following day after I reported it. Without this issue I would have given a 9 or 10 instead of 8.
