The location of this hotel is superb & the hotel itself is an old building that has been updated... It is stunning I had a room overlooking the square & it was huge (room 115) & I could also see Mount Teide... Everything was clean & presentable! We had lunch at the hotel on the first day (not included as we were b&b & it was very good! At night we went to Indian Crown & that was amazing! (About a 10 minute walk). The food was outstanding! The breakfast at the hotel was good, enough choices but the hot water machine wasn't working properly, but not too much of an issue. We had a hire car which we parked about 100m away in the underground car park - 15e for 24 hours! Which is good considering the parking is terrible in the town. I would definitely return, the hotel & the town itself is stunning! You must do the mountain trip - the views were fantastic!

I'm very surprised that there were not any tea/coffee facilities in the hotel but on our travels most hotels now don't have them! Being a bit picky here - I like my fried eggs cooked fresh - not left in a hot serving dish & I prefer the bacon cooked more - but hey, that's just me! You won't be disappointed here!

The room on the second floor was very good. The cleaning staff are excellent. The floors were mopped clean every day and fresh towels provided.

The breakfast was very poor. The hot counter was just fried eggs and extremely fatty streaky bacon. There was no grilled tomatoes, sausages, hash brown or mushrooms etc as was available in previous visits. There are buskers outside the hotel every day for 4 or 5 hours, they sang very mournful spanish songs and played with a drum and guitar, several people said they will not be returning because of this continual noise, no peace if you like to relax on the balcony in the afternoon.

The location was really good in a very centric, beautiful and lively square. We had a room with a view to the sea and not directly towards the swimming pool, which gave us a bit more privacy. It was also very close to the free parking area, that the staff was very good at informing us about, as we had parked the car in the quite expensive parking next to the hotel.

The bathroom was very small and not very practical with no place to hang towels and not much water coming out of the shower. A bit pity that the jacuzzi only can be used until eight o'clock, as it would be nice after a long day trip to make use of it. The breakfast could be lifted a bit up with fresh orange juice in stead of the artificial orange drink. Specially in Spain where oranges are so accessible.

We loved the ambience, the position in the centre of Puerto de la Cruz, our room with balcony, the 3 sun decks and pool and the friendly staff.

Lighting. nowhere was the light adequate at night for someone of poor vision to read. This was sad for us as there was only one English language channel on TV which was world news, so no entertainment in the evening at the hotel. Breakfast could easily have been improved with the provision of hot plates for "hot" food which was actually lukewarm and I had to use the microwave provided when I was advised of its existence. I would like to have seen tomatoes (hot or cold) but coffee, croissants and yogurt were good. There was no prepared or tinned fruit but oranges, apples, bananas and sometimes pears were provided'

Monopol is a fine traditional Tenerife hotel with a beautiful inner courtyard. We used the hotel as our base for hiking trips (all the way to Pico de Teide), so it was nice that the bus station was within an easy walking distance. And restaurants were all around the hotel, and supermarkets withis easy walking distance.

Unfortunately, our stay coincided with the Fiesta, which meant that particularly during our last night (Feb 24-25) there was far too much noise from the street. Even in the room, I felt we were part of the festivities. After the drums and other musical instruments stopped by 11 pm, the voices of partying individuals made it impossible to fall asleep before 1 am.

We had a long weekend break at the Monopol great location in the centre of Puerto, We had a large room on the 2nd floor, without a balcony a window that looked out onto a narrow side street, very quiet. Breakfast was adequate with a selection of cereals, eggs freshly cooked, bacon, beans, cheese ham, bread, jams, and croissants. The reception staff and restaurant staff are efficient, friendly, and helpful.

Nothing the hotel could change the weather was cool. Wifi in the room was poor but a good reception in the ground-floor seating area. I used the data from my mobile company so wasn't a problem.

Breakfast was excellent both choice and quality. We have been going to Tenerife for over 30 years and always stay in Los Christianos. On our day trips to Puerto Cruz we always promised ourselves we would stay in the Monopol. It’s an interesting building and close to the old town with its interesting streets and fabulous fish restaurants. Will go again next time we are in Los Christianos.

We were actually in a room separate to the main building. The room, veranda and roof terrace were great -for people who like to sunbath - but we don’t we prefer to walk and discover the place we are staying in. So would prefer a room in the main building overlooking the front of the hotel. Will request next time.

Recommended by a friend, it didn’t disappoint. It’s in a great location in the heart of the city. The decor may be a little old but that just adds to its faded elegant charm. The room was large and very clean with a modern bathroom. Bed quite comfortable. Our room was adjacent to one of the lifts which meant it was a little noisy but not terrible. The courtyard lounge is amazing, a haven of cool in a hot day I would guess. The restaurant seemed fine, breakfast was self service and plentiful both in quantity and choice. There’s a lot of interesting items and pictures throughout the building making it almost museum like, fascinating. The reception staff deserve a special mention. I needed to print, sign, scan and send an important document during our stay and they completed all this for me when I asked if they knew where I could get it done. Top marks for that. All in all a very pleasant stay and one I will repeat.

Maybe replace some bearings on the lifts. Possibly redecorate the rooms (although that would probably make the place mire anodyne so maybe not), but other than that, I can’t think of anything 🤣

I took my 75 yr Mum to the hotel as a surprise. The hotel was steaped in history with old articles on every floor like a mangle an old telephony switchboard, which brought back memories for her. We had a second floor room at the front in the old building. The rooms were a good size, clean and had a ceiling fan (could of moved a bit quicker for the heat). The room had sliding doors to a good sized balcony. The beds were sooooo comfortable. The best hotel bed I have ever slept in. I usually have to sleep on multiple blankets and duvets as both myself & my mum both suffer from painful hip joints and fybromyalgia. It was like falling onto a cloud! Quality mattresses. Our room overlooked the square and church. Great for people watching and watching the sunrise over Teide. Perfect for us, but, quite noisy if you are a light sleeper or have babies to get to sleep, I would ask for a room around the back if you don't like noise. The Church bell does dong every 1/4 hour but stops from 11pm-8am if I remember correctly. The hotel has a lift to the floors. Beautiful seating area in the middle with plants cascading down. Breakfast was varied, continental style, also cereals, yoghurts, pastries, yoghurts, eggs, strange bacon, different breads. We didn't have evening meals as I wanted to go to my favourite restaurant nearby. The solarium area had a ping ping table and plenty of sunbeds. The pool area again had plenty of sunbeds, parasols & tables. There is a pool shower, resonable sized outside pool & Jacuzzi & toilet facilities. Also outside table & chairs if you don't want to lie on a sunbed. Reception and all staff were friendly and accomodating. Right between the shops in both the old town and the new. Just a gem of a hotel, you can't go wrong for the price. Definitely will be back. Definitely recommended. We took the bus from Adeje to Icod, then changed bus from Icod to Puerto de la Cruz.

A kettle would be nice and a fan in the bathroom.

Stay at the Monopol often. Our favourite hotel always enjoy the pool area and bar. Lovely staff, beautiful building, very clean. Good breakfast. Loved the Christmas decorations with background music.

Room spacious. However the TV is totall in the wrong place to watch in bed. Especially as there are no chairs to sit on! Shower head needs descaling. Shower screen not the right size every shower the bathroom floods. Room 114
