Sol Puerto de la Cruz Tenerife

The location is very good, a few minutes from center of Puerto de la Cruz, right at the sea front. There are a lot of nice shops, restaurants, supermarkets at walking distance from the hotel. We walked also to Loro Park, like 15 min. The staff was very friendly, open to help. Parking is available on the street or around the hotel, free of charge. Bus station near the hotel. The hotel doesn't have private parking but there was no need, in Tenerife you can find easily parking spaces. Breakfast was extraordinary, lile in 5* hotels. Very fresh, divers and suitable for each taste. They had also gluten free corner.

The hotel is quite old construction, no refurbishment done since long time. Old furniture, no amenities in bathroom, just towels and soap. Right behind the hotel (at the sea front) is a construction site, a lot of noise due to this - but is not their fault.. anyhow poor noise isolation. The room was clean, but not sparkling..

Stayed here from November 9th to 16th. Chose this particular hotel due to its handy location to explore the mountain and surrounding areas, and I hired a motorcycle to enjoy doing just this. So this is a 3* rated hotel, sure it's not the grandest by any means, but clean, friendly and well located - being close to the beach and the town. I found the Staff here exceptional. From check-in to check-out & all in between. Gracia checked me in and was ever so helpful, she really was fabulous. Throughout the holiday she checked that all was okay, and gave me good tips and helpful local information. On the last night, I enjoyed a lengthy friendly chat with her, where we shared a lovely coconut yoghurt drink at reception lol. The room maids, were all lovely too, as well as the female poolside attendant and all the restaurant staff. I must mention Eli here, she was also fantastic, and looked forward to being greeted by her lovely friendly smile each morning & evening. She was a delight and like Gracia, a credit to the Meliá hotel group. So aside from the excellent staff, my room(214) was good. It was end of corridor with a rear view of mountains and side view of the sea. Beds were comfortable if possibly a fraction hard, but I slept well on them, so no complaints. A/C was just ok, could perhaps use a servicing to have it operating at its coldest, however as I visited in November - despite being warm weather, wasn't too bad in room. Bathroom was decent with a good shower. Room had a safe(payable at reception) which I used for my stay. Only thing which I would have like was a small fridge in room, but considering the 3stars and price paid, maybe this is understandable by its absence. The main square in Puerto de la Cruz is Plaza de Charco where you will find all the restaurants, bars & shops you would need. I used the Compostelano de Charco several times, for great food, drink, screened football and friendly service.

As mentioned in main review bedroom A/C could be stronger and perhaps beds a little softer, - these are minor gripes, and didn't in any way spoil my enjoyment.

Everything was as advertised - big spacious room and bathroom, good breakfast with many choices, great location, helpful staff. The price and previous comments made me expect a dated property and while it is indeed true that it looked like a previous rooms refurbishment was more than 15 years ago, everything was in working condition and very clean, also daily housekeeping was very thorough. Room had no minibar (none was advertised, so it's all good), but there was at least a vending machine at ground floor and the setup for a bar - didn't see it operating, but we left at 10-11 a.m. and returned past 11 p.m.

The property offers dinner (can't speak of it since we dinned out, breakfast was very good except for the coffee, only choice was instant, and if it's an indication about dinner it probably was good as well, we just didn't want to adhere to a schedule, wide as it might have been) and the smell from the dining hall situated at the semi-basement permeated through the ground floor and, for the staircase and elevator area, above.

Great and helpful personnel. Localisation - 4 minutes from main bus station and 4 minutes to the (rocky) beach. City center in 10 min by walk. Rooms were clean and spacy. You have either view on Teide or on the sea, which is great. Bathroom and towels were clean. Breakfast was good with a variety of options (incl. vegan).

A/C was not working (no cooling) - luckily it was not a big issue in October. Very distubring WC (not flushing well). Rooms/bathroom seems a bit old, but are clean and all is working fine. There was no option to check-in earlier, but we were allowed to leave a luggage. You need to remember that this is a very big hotel and there is a lot of guests, however for our few days it was not an issue at all.

It was my do nothing phase of vacation and had a sea view - quiet (except for the noise from the football ground behind the hotel) wave background room with breakfast and dinner! Had a Peaceful stay, Playa Jardin is walkable and beautiful with black sand!

Noise from football ground at night was bothering and If it had Spa and jacuzzi, it would have been a total package! If you are into water adventure or sunbath, not suggested, as this is in north West of Tenerife

The Hotel although not the best is being upgraded and the new look is very nice. The staff were very amenable.

The food both at breakfast and evening meals was nice but could do with being kept warmer or an installation of a microwave which we have used at other hotels when the food needs it. The price for drinks considering it is in the canaries are over priced and most customers seem to be avoiding the bar which also reduces the atmosphere which isn't good for a holiday resort. Within a few meters beer was available at half the price and less.

Breakfast was amazing, fresh orange juice, great selection of breakfast types and fruits. Location is great, the beach is very close, there are shops and restaurants nearby.

There is a construction in front of the hotel which makes the seaview rooms not worth the price. When you sit on the balcony you only see the construction site. The seaview room pictures are taken from the room, that's why you can't see what's happening in front of the building.

The hotel is amazing. The location is great - it is 5 mins walk to main bus station (the bus from airport comes there), 5 mins walk to main beach and only 10 mins walk to the city center. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is fine, with a huge choice of food, depending on your preference. The dinner is okay, but most of the food is canned, sometimes food was spoiled (fruits and vegetables). The rooms are nice and comfy. They are cleaned once per day at a convenient time. Bed is comfy with a lot of pillows and a huge blanket. There was a wardrobe where all our stuff fit, there is a table, a TV with nice channels. We also had a balcony with an amazing view to the ocean. All in all, it was a great stay. I think, if I ever go to Puerto de la Cruz again, I will stay at the same place.

We had a great stay there. However a couple of things could be improved: 1. Vegetables and fruits at the restaurant sometimes were spoiled (watermelons, tomatoes, artichokes) 2. Bed sheets are weird - there is no duvet cover (cotton case for a blanket). Instead, the blanket is just placed between 2 bed sheets as a sandwich. At night it all moves around so you end up sleeping with a plain blanket with no cover. I am not 100% sure it is hygienic. 3. Swimming pool is available from 10am to 6pm only, so you cannot swim before breakfast or at the evening. 4. Construction site was right in front of our balcony and sometimes it was difficult to sleep because of them.

The staff were friendly and very helpful on occasions. I asked for a shower mat to prevent me slipping in the shower and it was delivered to my room promptly. On the day I left the hotel the airport transfer cab did not turn up and the receptionists tried in vain to contact them. In the end they found me a taxi that got me to the airport on time.

The buffet style breakfast. The food was plentiful and substantial but as is often the case very rarely warm enough .

All staff was very friendly and helpful, the location is great. You can walk to the historic city center and the beach playa jardín in a few minutes. The room was clean and comfortable.

The only downside is that right in front of the hotel at the seaside there is a big construction site. Luckily, there was no noise when we were there but the view from the balcony is not that nice. At first we were a bit disappointed but I have to say it didn't really matter that much because all the rest was great, the hotel has nice facilities including a sunny patio with a nice pool.
