Hotel Astoria

I used Olten as a base for two days of train excursions. This hotel is very near to the old part of town and the wooden bridge over the Aare River. It was a fifteen minute walk to the railway station. It was a forty minute train ride to Zürich/Zürich Airport, and in the other direction, a similar time to Bern. The room offered had plenty of room, was very clean and had all facilities that I required. Wifi was very good. The breakfast was of continental style, with lots of variety. All staff members encountered were friendly and very helpful. I would use this hotel again.

Nothing at all.

I like the Room, but I didn't like the service. It is a Hotel, but no reception after 11pm. My train was late because of rail construction at night, so noone was there to help. I got 2 different box codes, one per email and another one by phone. The Terrace said that is closed at midnight, I went up at 11:45 pm and the waiter didn't let me have drink or sit in the bar because she wanted to close. She also didn't want to receive the payment cash because she wanted to close.

The Service od the Staff.

My one night-stay was superb. the staff, the services, the room, cleanliness, and the breakfast was really nice. location: downtown, altstadt, parking 5minutes on foot, 350-400m. restaurant of the hotel (sixieme) : nice view over the city. resto and cafes are around the hotel. From now on this will be my drop-off point in the area.

No minibar (small fridge) in the room.

The hotel is located in a central position, it's comfortably accessable by public transport. The room was simple, but clean. The hotel personnel were kind and helpful, and the breakfast even exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a short comfortable stay in the city.

The room was a good size with nice big windows and a nice balcony. The staff was was very helpful. After arriving we made a few requests for ice, extra pillows and the right adapter which they were helpful to supply.

The hotel is located near a church and the bells rang at regular intervals making it difficult to sleep. The extra ringing at 7am was particularly frustrating as we wanted another hour of sleep before a long drive.

A perfect surprise. Klein aber fein… as one says in German. Very friendly and approachable young staff. The hotel has several restaurants with indoor and outdoor seating and a unique rooftop bar on the 6th floor with expensive views all over Olton. Breakfast buffet Is not extensive but ticks all the right boxes when it comes to nutrition. The fresh bread, bread roll nd cheese varieties are amazing. My room is clean and modern and the rest of the hotel appears to be so as well. This hotel really punches above its weight. I’m one happy customer 😊

Rooms are nicely appointed except - in this case - for the bathroom. The restaurant is very good.

In this particular room (compared to the others I’ve stayed before) the bathroom was very small and offered no privacy. The toilet was separate and I’m not a particular fan of that arrangement either.

Very good location within Olten, at walking distance from train station. Staff is very polite and professional. Free Wifi is fast and can hold a video call, so very good if you have to work from the hotel. Rooms are clean and tidy upon arrival.

Breakfast is a bit limited, more choice on pastries would be good.

I liked the atmosphere and the staff tried their best to help me.

I didn't like that you did not have any air conditioning. Coming from Canada I am used to that. Also, my wifi with you was very, very poor. I could not do my work because the wifi was off and then on and then weak.

Friendly staff,always polite and helpful. Excellent choices at the breakfast buffet table.

Bathroom was a little compact and bijoux for a big chap like me,will upgrade the next time that I stay there.
