Bunbury Hotel Koombana Bay

The studio room was very clean and very comfortable, especially the bed and space for the lounge suite and desk. The TV was huge. Having a mini kitchenette was handy, too. Air conditioning can be controlled in the room, and there are windows that can be opened or shut. Lastly, I had a buffet breakfast and good coffee at the restaurant, which was good value if you loaded up your plate! The crockery was lovely in the restaurant too. All staff I met were friendly and professional 🙂 The indoor pool is large, and you can meander through the garden to a small beach and a path that follows the coast and allows you access to other restaurants. Or walk to central town. A great stay! I'll be back.

Bed preference for 2 x single beds had not been communicated from Booking.com to hotel. Double bed made up in room. I was given the option of a roller bed which was accepted. As there was no record of my bed request I was to be charged for the roller bed. When I checked my emails the request for the single beds was there and staff deleted charge for roller bed. Windows were open and it was noisy with other guests talking loudly out the front of the hotel.

The location is great very close to town centre and a short walk to beach. The bed was very comfortable and has a large screen tv. The room was very quiet albeit the small fridge was a little noisy during the night. The room also had a small office desk. The room had free (2) bottles of water. Plenty of utensils in the kitchenette. The bathroom is a good size.

There is plenty of parking around the hotel. There is about 10 car parks under cover in the basement however when returning back in the evening the car park was full and had to park outside. I had to attend reception to seek information from the night manager where to park. Other places I have stayed, allocate parking to a room.

Room was large and well-appointed with clean and comfortable beds. The little kitchenette was a bonus that is not common in hotels. Parking was convenient, safe and secure. The staff on the front desk and especially in the restaurant went out of their way to be helpful and welcoming.

I had asked for a room on a lower level but was given a room on the upper level. There were ample lifts but I always worry about coming down stairs if there is an emergency. (I have mobility issues so lots of stairs would be a challenge if the lifts are not to be used.)

The quiet and privacy of our room, the staff was so friendly and accomodating . The history and displays were very interesting . The location was central and within walking distance to the city and beach. Didn’t have breakfast as we don’t like smorgasbord and that’s all they had to offer.

Breakfast could be open a little longer and because it was off season we could not have it room service . Also it was smorgasbord , so we chose to have breakfast elsewhere . Otherwise we would have had breakfast if we had a chose. Could not also have dinner there as again it was off season we presumed.

The rooms are lovely, well appointed and very comfortable. Had a great nights sleep. Was impressed that the room has a small self-catering kitchen. Enough to do your own breakfast if you want too. It has a safe, a huge TV and free undercover parking. The reception staff were very pleasant.

We went for a celebratory dinner at the restaurant and weren’t very impressed. The meal was reasonably nice (not great), but the service was poor. We had a show to attend at 8pm, so settled in for an early 6pm dinner. We ordered by 6.05, but our entree didn’t arrive for 40 minutes and our mains wasn’t delivered until 7.10. This is way too long. We ended up skipping dessert, so that we had time to make our show. Also, my medium steak was over cooked and, while nice and tender, was almost well done.

The only thing we didn’t like was that when we booked in we enquired about breakfast & was told where the dining room was & what the times were then on Then on the Sunday we checked in the information book that is in the room to see what time the dining room was open then when we went to the dining room at allocated time it was closed we asked about it at reception & told it was closed on Sunday & only open Thur,Fri & Sat for drinks only,we were quite annoyed about it as we had to then go elsewhere to get dinner we believe we SHOULD have been informed when we checked in that it wasn’t open for dinner. Apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay 😀

I was very pleased with everything. It's what I would call 'four-star for Bunbury', and although it's not quite new, it was clean and neat and well-maintained, and the staff were very helpful and attentive. The bed was comfortable with tons of pillows, and I had a lovely view of Koombana Bay from my room. I had a deluxe room with a spa bath which was also very enjoyable. The buffet breakfast was generous and delicious. I got room service a couple of times and the margerita pizza and sticky date dessert were really good. Other reviews mention the wind whooshing round the atrium, but the noise from this was easily fixed by using the draught excluder across the room door (provided), and it was very quiet after that. I liked the smart TV and was able to use my own Netflix and Prime accounts on it (remembering to exit these before checking out, unlike the previous occupants of the room! but I exited for them). It was also really enjoyable just lazing on the couch in the room and listening to the seagulls, because I was after all on holiday.

The indoor pool was great, but I'm not sure the heating was on, the second time I went in it! I also had the salt and pepper squid from room service one evening, and I'd warn anyone else off it - large thick slabs of squid, which had to be cut with a knife and fork, and were a bit grim and unappetising (but at least not overcooked). I was surprised because everything else was really nice.

Room had a lovely view, it was spacious and immaculately clean. Such good value for money. Check in and check out was quick and easy. The indoor pool looked lovely, although we didn't have time to use it - maybe next time!

Underground parking was limited, this was somewhat disappointing because we wanted a secure place for our motorcycles. At first we couldn't get a space but on second check we were lucky to get the last space for our motorcycles. It would be good to be able to reserve underground parking.

The room was a great size for 2 people. The kitchenette had eveything you needed (ie kettle, toaster, coffee, tea, some milk). There was a small lounge and desk area so you didn't have to sit on the bed. There was a good amount of space to move around in. There was a partial view of the water, but very nice. It was within short walking distance to Koombana bay and cafes/restaurants on the water and shops in town. The beds were comfortable and it was a nice place to stay after travelling all day.

It was pretty good, staff maybe could have better knowledge of cafes, shops close by.
