Staybridge Suites - Calgary Airport, an IHG Hotel

1- Location: The suites are located at a very convenient location. Just a 15min ride takes you to the airport and downtown is just 8 mins away. Close to Sunridge mall and a lot of other restaurants as well. 2- Staff: A big shout out to Joth, Raman, Dalal and Naomi for making our stay extremely special. Joth helped us dealing with the brief hot water interruption and supported us with alternate options to cruise through the inconvenience. Rawan and Dalal had been great with briefing us about special events as well as coordinating housekeeping and other requests during our stay while Naomi did a wonderful job arranging our ride back to the airport as well as receiving our Amazon deliveries as well as any other requests. Kudos to you all for making it a special stay for us. 3- Gym and Pool: While kids loved the pool and water slide, I was able to take full advantage of the gym facilities. They may be a bit dated for now but I was able to complete my workout routine without any hassle. 4- Maintenance and repairs: Sabry, the maintenance tech was able to fix a door handle in a professional manner with a very respectful attitude which I must appreciate as well.

The property is going through some improvement and renovations so at times it was a bit of a discomfort but I’m sure things are heading in the right direction. Some suggestions: 1- Consider updating / expanding gym facilities. 2- The breakfast is really decent but can benefit with a bit more variety. 3- Parking enforcement maybe needed at times since some guest may or may not respect the allocated parking spots and park across two spots at once, causing inconvenience to other guests. 4- A yield or a Stop sign may be posted at the exit from the parking lot on to the main road since traffic from three lanes collect at this intersection with two more hotels present in the same vicinity.

Location was good, breakfast was decent (nothing to write home about but good selection and very convenient)...eggs, bacon or sausage, waffles, cereal, muffins, fruit, yogurt bar), pool and hot tub were great, bed and pillows were comfortable, great to have the kitchen as we were there for 4 days. Room was clean, staff was friendly. Basically exactly what you would expect from a mid range hotel. No complaints or issues and wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Only wish they did full housekeeping but their policy (light turnover during the week and only by request on weekends) is stated on the website when booking as well as when you arrive. Not a big issue for us just one of those little extras that would be nice.

The rooms were great, clean, good size and had everything we needed. Shower was fully equipped with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Breakfast was impressive, we really enjoyed that! Staff was super friendly and helpful and always available even when we arrived late in the evening. Beds were very comfortable, we slept great.

Hotel was under renovation so things were a bit messy but didn't interfere with our stay too much. It just caused the breakfast space to be a bit crowded and hard to move around. It also would have been awesome if we could have used the outdoor space but it wasn't setup. There was never any hot water left in the mornings, if we wanted a hot or warm shower, we had to shower at night. The hot tub wasn't working the night we used it so the water was barely warm but our friends did have a chance to use it while it was working and said it was great. The water slide looked as though it hadn't been cleaned in awhile (muddy steps) but it was still super fun to use and a good size pool. Overall we were very happy with our stay and would definitely stay here again.

Breakfast area is spacious and there was good variety during our stay. Kitchenette in the suite is perfect for a hotel stay. We had everything we needed and it was easy to whip up a quick dinner. Washrooms are clean. Overall, suites are very comfortable and the hotel is overall very family friendly. I would stay here again if I ever visit the city!

Fitness center only has dumbbells, some medicine balls, and some treadmills. Not unexpected for a hotel and it wasn't a huge issue. It is a bit small, but luckily it was empty when we went. The salt and pepper in the kitchenette didn't come in shakers, we were just provided with a handful of individual packets of each. Again, not really an issue. Just pointing out some minor details that others may want to consider.

Staff was friendly, we personally loved the location. We took public transportation to go downtow and it was easy. There also is a great mall walking distance from the hotel. We also enjoyed the breakfast and the evening "snack" offered free, great touch and nice thought from the hotel! 2 thumbs up!

The sofa bed in the room was not very comfortable, though the actual bed was great. Also the entire hotel seemed to be in renovation so the gym or spa weren't functional almost my entire stay there.

Its conveniently located near the airport and near and quite a few restaurants and about 15 mins to downtown. area is nice for drives to the mountains as well. Staff are nice helpful.

The one major disadvantage with this hotel is that they don’t have a daily room service they only do that once in 7 days. They do replace towers and clear the trash everyday and that’s about it. For the price they take I don’t think that’s fair (even though it a suit room). There is only one elevator and is super slow for 4 floors I could use their stairs and reach faster even though the access to the stairs is in one corner. unless you get the ground floor it’s going to be a bit tricky here. Quality of breakfast can be better

Location was great. We had full kitchen in each room, so we didn’t have to eat out every meal. Breakfast was included and had a large assortment of food to choose from. Every Mon, Tues & Wed evening they had hors d’oeuvre’s that were also included (nice touch!) as well as a coffee bar that was available 24/7, the hotel was very clean & comfortable and all of the staff were very friendly. They have a great indoor pool with a great slide! Next time we travel we will definitely check if there’s a Staybridge Suites to stay at.

My only issue is that they only had two handicap parking spots. I think they need at least 2 or maybe even 4 more.

The room was huge. Plenty of space if you’re a family that likes your privacy from one another, or if you’re families sharing. The beds are the most comfortable beds I’ve ever experienced in a hotel. The kitchenette was super handy as my Daughter got sick whilst staying there & we couldn’t venture out for dinner. Both bedrooms in the Family Suite had en-suites. Plus TV’s. The cleanliness was top notch. We didn’t get to enjoy breakfast or the pool as I said above, my Daughter got poorly during our stay. But, I’m sure I’d have zero complaints.

The property was great. But my one gripe would be towards the staff - I had called for a late checkout.. The gentleman at the front desk granted me an extra hour, which I was thankful for, but I needed more time as my husband had work in the City until 4pm & my Daughter was poorly (we intended to walk over to Sunridge Mall after checkout & eat/shop there until he had finished, but she got sick) so, I decided to call the front desk again & ask for an extra night. To which, they were extremely accommodating & even honoured Booking.com’s price. But around 1pm, I had a knock at the door from a lady, wondering why I hadn’t checked out yet… To which I had to explain the situation half asleep as I hadn’t slept all night. Not a huge deal, just maybe more communication needed. 😊

The hotel was chosen to be close to the Peter Lougheed Hospital, about a 10 minute drive. It was also very central to shopping mall, grocery stores, movie theatres, public transportation and the airport. The breakfast was excellent, both hot and cold items, spaced out dining, good coffee and snack time Mon, Tues,Wed from 5:30-7pm (didn't use this feature) Good in suite kitchen, comfortable beds and pillow, blackout curtains and quiet location.

The temperature was very tricky to regulate correctly even with following their printed directions. My elderly mother found the bathtub to be very slippery and when we asked about a bathmat, there weren't any.

My grandkids love the pool and we all enjoy it, as well breakfast was very good and delicious. The room very comfortable and cool and even that the hotel is beside a highway we can't hear any noise from outside. Front desk always ready to help with a happy face. Tim Hortons and McDonald's in a walking distance. Superstore and Walmart a few minutes away driving, a lot stores and shops close by as well. This hotel was a great experience for all of us and a good surprise. Definitely we will come back for our next trip ☺️
