Very nice location with sea views from the street and the double sea view room. A short stroll to a small rocky beach. Perfectly located for the Nanaimo to Horseshoe Bay ferry from Departure Bay, which is just a 14 minute drive away. Very nice gardens. Rooms are well equipped with personal touches like soap and shampoo, tissues and complimentary chocolates. Darlene is a wonderful host- friendly, interested, caring and kind. The breakfast was wonderful with a fruit platter, hot blueberry scones and croissants with scrambled egg. Excellent value for money, especially as the price includes breakfast.

You do have to remember that this is a Guesthouse not a hotel and that you are staying in someone's house. It is extremely clean and comfortable and quiet. Darlene, the owner, is delightful and bakes the most wonderful scones for breakfast with a variety of prepared fresh fruit and eggs, The bathrooms are clean and it was lovely to have a balcony to step out on in the en suite room. The no shoes in the house rule is sensible and she does provide slippers if needed.

Darlene, the host is very accommodating, breakfast is good, a traditional and homely house setting . The location is very close to downtown. The room by the ocean view is so relaxing, that the ocean breeze made us so restful and comfortable to sleep in spite of the hot weather. The house is immaculately clean. The beautiful and huge garden is an addition to your view and a must to go around and enjoy. You don't need to visit a botanical garden , it is all in here. All went well . I would highly recommend this place to my friends.

Would have been better if she has more rooms to accommodate a bigger group.

Darline, the host is so amazing! She gives personal attention, fine chocolate, a lovely beautiful room with view to the lake and to the garden. The bed was so comfortable and also the bed sheets. Breakfast felt as if we are in a Palace. Everything so impressive, like royalty 💮 We highly recommend this place with wonderful Darline.

The WiFi didn't work, But we didn't mind it because of the superb hospitality we got 💮

Location was fantastic, short walk (2 min) down the road and you were on the beach where the sunsets are marvellous. Our breakfast was terrific. The gardens were outstanding and in full bloom. neighbours were friendly. Best part was Darlene- our hostess. she is a lovely woman full of spunky and mischief. She provided excellent directions to spots we wanted to either drive or walk to as well as ideas of where to sightsee off the beaten track. we will definitely stay here again. thanks Darlene for such a wonderful stay!

Darlene is a great host, very friendly and welcoming. the house was very clean and the breakfast delicious! Loved the hummingbird on the balcony and the fruit platter. The house is in a quiet street close to the ocean, we saw also a lot of deers hanging in the neighborhood

We stayed in the twin room and it is pretty small, it didn’t have much space to open the luggages properly. Anyway for a short stay is def okay. We couldn’t visit the garden from the house and the floor where we stayed.

Cute little b&b in the north of Nanaimo. Darlene is an exceptional host who provides delicious breakfast (scrambled eggs in a croissant, combined with fresh fruit). Not luxurious, but everything you need from a b&b!

Residential neighborhood, meaning you need the car to go and have dinner - but it is north America, after all… so nothing really to complain!

My boyfriend and I spent a night at the Island View B&B on our tour around the island. The host Darlene was very friendly and welcoming and her backyard garden is beautiful! You can tell she puts lots of effort into main it, and you can even see the ocean from the garden! I would have easily spent more time in the garden if we had more time there! The room was also clean and comfortable and had all the basic necessities for a stay. Darlene makes a great breakfast, which consisted of fresh fruits, warm scones, and scrambled eggs! I would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a relaxing retreat!

The place was very clean, garden at the back was beautiful. The amount of space I had was more than I had expected; I did not expect a kitchen with microwave, flat toaster, full fridge, dishes etc. View from the dining area was very nice. There were fresh cut flowers in every room, including the bathroom; smelled nice.

I think few of the decorations can be removed. I am a minimalist. This house had too many decorations. One has to drive 7-8 Km to get something to eat.

Darlene was really nice and friendly! She also helped us out with a map of the area and told us what was close by. The breakfast was delicious! Our room had it's own bathroom and balcony and the view was beautiful. There were a lot of birds around which was really nice. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to check out her garden as we had to catch a ferry right after breakfast.

The only criticism I have is that the furnishings were old fashioned and the bed was a little hard for my liking but those things may not be an issue for others as some may view it as homey and prefer a harder bed. My husband for example had no issue with either.
