Extremely clean and quiet rooms. Close to the local restaurants. I liked the huge Lighted mirror in the bathroom that had a heat function for for when it fogs up. Nice little patio to sit outside and enjoy the view.

Room 25 is sold as a "deluxe" room because it has a "better" view, but is a tiny room and costs more than than the room with two beds a door down, which is bigger and has an "obstructed view. Obstructed is not really the case. The AC unit is extremely noisy. The pillows were the overstuffed kind that kink your neck.Shower had good hot water but could use a hand bar.

The front desk was very accommodating. Amelia the housekeeper was very friendly and our room was very well maintained.The microwave, dishes, dish cloth, tea towel and dish washing liquid made our stay without hassle. my friend has many food allergies so we could so easily prepare food and clean up. The room was very simple yet so functional. The round table and chairs gave the room a "homey feel". Although our time was short, it was a wonderful "getaway". God bless you. Johanna

YOUR STAFF ABI AND SUNNY ARE NICE AND GOOD. THE UNIT FLOOR ARE NOISY WHEN YOU WALK, SOUNDS SQUEEKKING SO I NEED TO WALK SLOWLY NOT TO DISTURB UNIT DOWN BELOW. NO SPOON AND FORK TO USE, FOR US COUPLE, I THINK AT LEAST 3 OR 4 PAIRS WILL BE ENOUGH. DRINKING GLASS TO USE, 3 GLASS TO USE WILL BE ENOUGH AND 2 COFFEE MUG AT LEAST. THANKS

PLEASE PROVIDE A BATH SOAP THAT BUBBLES ENOUGH, THE SOAP WE USED DOES NOT BUBBLES ENOUGH. BUT WE STILL ABLE TO USED YOUR FACILITY ON OUR NEEDS AND EXPECTATION. BUT TO INFORM YOU, THE FIRST UNIT GIVEN TO US AT GROUND FLOOR I THINK UNIT 21 SMELLS BAD OR STINKY AND WE ASK ABI TO CHANGE THE UNIT BUT IT WAS AT THE SECOND FLOOR AND I HAVE DIFFICULTY IN STAIR BECAUSE I HAVE AN INJURED KNEE BUT NOTHING TO DO JUST TOOK THAT UNIT 50. STILL THANK YOU!

After many visits, I AM always impressed with Team Sunny, Sahil, Abby and Bishal who take great care to ensure their guests are comfortable and feel safe in their accommodations. The beautiful Souls who work in housekeeping are lovely, and always ready to help out with a smile, making my stay so enjoyable. As a woman traveling solo for work, I highly suggest staying at the Wessex and becoming part of the family🐻🙏. Thank you!!

Room was very clean and amenities were well thought of and practical and complete kitchen! While the room itself was dated, I was impressed by the cleanliness of the room. Staff was very attentive and helpful as we asked for a late check in. Solution was very practical and allowed for a seamless check in. Location was great, and breakfast recommendation was spot on. Thank you!

Because the facility is older, there was that musty old house smell that welcomes you on first entry, but that said, the room was immaculately clean and the bathroom too!

The location of the property is perfect, easy to find and access. The view into the harbour from the room is super. The coastal path leads into the town centre with shops and restaurants. We sat on the outside patio of the Vine restaurant for dinner, and it was very good 👍 You can literally cross the road from the property, sit in the park and watch seals swimming close to shore in the bay.

The only thing we have a negative comment on is that if you sit on the outside balcony of your room, the passing road traffic can be a bit noisy.

The Wessex Inn has a great location across from the beautiful Cowichan Bay, evening walks from your hotel door bring fresh sea air and walkway along the marina among the sound of barking sea lions. A short stroll provides access to the quaint businesses that border the bay along the marina. A convenience store, quality eateries and tourist shops are within a 10 minute walk. My room had an unobstructed view of the bay to enjoy the sights of the constantly changing landscape. The location is very clean with comfortable bedding and very friendly staff. Furniture, kitchenette is outdated but functional. Best value in the area especially if you don't care about shiny and "modern" style. I appreciate the function over fashion style and value service and cleanliness as priorities.

The breakfast was absolutely delicious and room was so comfortable, clean and well stocked with toiletries and coffee and teas. We will definitely stay there again. The location was perfect! We were close to the water ,where the kids could explore and the cute little town was a delight to walk through! The beds were very comfortable , we slept in both mornings we were there ! The staff were exceptional, they went above an beyond! Thank you

We booked short notice when we found a room for an amazing price. The photos online looked exactly like the motel so it was easy to find. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, especially the owner who met all of our requests and answered all of our questions. The room itself was beyond perfect. We stayed in a room facing the water and had a balcony that looked out to the mountains and the bay. There was a gorgeous walking path, parks, beaches, and docks right below the motel. Stores, shops, and restaurants were less than 5-minute walk down the street. The room was clean, and cozy and included many more appliances than you usually find in hotel stays. In comparison with other hotels and stays in the area, Wessex seemed to be the best in terms of location and appearance. If you will be bussing, the stop is right in front of the motel. It was a dream to stay at the Wessex and we were so sad to leave. We will definitely be back and will recommend the Wessex to anyone looking for a Cowichan Bay getaway.

Cowichan Bay has limited bus service so it can make it difficult to travel to and from neighboring towns. This is not the fault of the establishment but it is unfortunate for those that do not own a car.

This is an older property under new ownership. It’s very retro but being worked on. The location is wonderful, across the street from a park and a short walk to the “town” . Property owners and staff were friendly & helpful. Although worn around the edges our room was very comfortable & very clean. It contained a stove & basic cutlery & kitchen utensils which we did not use. A work in progress!

The coffee machine was not working properly.
