Ocean Resort

This is our second stay, and probably won't be our last. This seaside hotel is humble yet classy, way nicer than anything else in comox or campbell river at this price range. Rooms feel fresh and spotless, plenty of positives to this place. You can tell they are health conscious with filtered water available, good quality soap and shampoo in a dispenser. The bedding doesn't smell of scented cleaners. Really worth the short drive out of town if you're visiting CR or the valley.

The noisy highway is on the opposite side, so book a seaside room if they are available - worth the extra for the sunrises anyway : )

I'm a repeat customer of the Ocean Resort. I book when I'm in Campbell River for appointments and am always happy with the cleanliness, comfort, lovely location and the amenities provided. What stands out to me is their helpful friendly staff who do a great job. This time I asked if we could be moved to the ground floor as my room was booked upstairs. The lady on front desk that day did a little rearranging and even showed me a ground floor room before I checked in. If you're able to catch a sunset or sunrise here you won't be disappointed, they are spectacular.

Location was great. The providing of chairs and lounges to sit/lay on while "watching the world go by" was great. Constant coffee and tea was good. Cleanliness of room was good.

a surcharge to clean the room was a surprise! All room lighting was on one side of the room. As a result the comfortable chair was useless to sit and read in. It was also useless as a possibility to sit in to watch TV. As there were no nearby eating establishments it would have been nice to have a basic breakfast service., toast, bagels, fruit, etc.

Pro: I’ve always wanted to stay at this place and finally had a chance to go with my family for mini vacay around the new year. The new owners were very welcoming and friendly when we checked in. The whole place and the room were very clean and tidy. They provided only essentials supplies, but were sufficient for our stay. The lobby has coffee and tea 24/7, but reception closes at certain time. The location is ideal to us, about 20km out of town but the drive is super nice, so we didn’t mind at all; it’s quiet at night and we have some nice ocean view from our room. Cons: The room is a bit small for a family of four, but we managed. It was a bit warm at night, even with all the heats turn off, but we cracked the door open a bit, and managed to sleep better, too. Would be nice to have a kettle in the room but given the fact that they don’t provide tea nor coffee in the room, it is understandable that they don’t have kettle in every room, but still would be nice to have the option for hot water if wanted ( i.e. for instant miso soup or reman noodles…)

It was clean, beautiful setting, just what we wanted.

I was really put off by a multi page email I received after booking and payment being taken. It was full of rules, don’t do this, don’t do that, and complete with threats of consequences. I get that rules are needed but they went over the top. Telling me they have staff who are specially trained to detect prohibited odors like smoking, making coffee or cooking in your room or using a scented candle, the list was endless, was really dumb and insulting. If I had received this prior to paying I would have gone elsewhere. I hate being treated like a troublesome child instead of a valued customer. It’s a shame because the property is quite beautiful. Except for the ‘don’t do this’ and that signs taped to just about every surface.

The location and view are spectacular! We also really appreciated that there was no carpet in the room.

It was unfortunate that the resort couldn't spring for coffee cream.at the coffee/tea station in the lobby. But most disappointing were the beds. While the linens and pillows were good quality, the beds were not. Our room had 2 queen beds, but both are smaller than a queen, and they are very short. I'm 5'6" and my feet were at the end of the bed. My husband is 6'3", so his feet were hanging off the end of the bed..

the new breakfast buffet was fresh & plentiful - a beautiful location over looking the Bay. Staff very friendly & helpful. Good food. rooms were very clean & big enough for a 3 day stay. Plenty of Ice available, fridges in room & microwave in coffee area. The location is beautiful with the back of the hotel overlooking a stunning beach & view. Location for exploring Campbell river area is fabulous

The beds are very comfortable and exactly as seen on websit. The shower head was very nice like a gentle cleansing rain. Customer service was outstanding we even got an early check in which was greatly appreciated.

The sitting areas outside could have had more access, maybe a picnic table. Access to BBQ would have been nice. The screen on our window had a rip which allowed bugs to come in. There was no fan in the bathroom.

The location is fantastic. The staff/owners were so helpful & pleasant. We really enjoyed our stay. The main gripe we had and this really doesn't reflect on Ocean Resort itself, but Booking.com is that it had appeared that we had booked a pet friendly room when in actuality we hadn't. This was a fault in Booking.com system that created a headache for the staff member that checked us in & myself as well as prevented from getting a room that best suited our needs.

Very clean. Accommodating staff. Gorgeous location. I felt the rate was extremely reasonable and would definitely stay here again. It felt like a real treat to have such a nice place at such a reasonable rate!

Lots of signs posted around with DO NOT do this…DO NOT do that…it did project an unwelcome feeling that contrasted with the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. It seems like they must have had a bad experience in the past with guests behaving badly. The room set up was a bit odd…there was a large cabinet between the beds, so if sitting up in bed, you could not see the other person you were talking too…but this would have been perfect if you had squabbling kids!
