Sofitel Xi'an On Renmin Square

Nice rooms and beautiful bath, even though the furniture is a bit old. Very helpful front-desk staff & concierge with good English. Location is good, not the best.

Spa area is basically closed without noticed, swimming pool is crowded with kids that seem to be from outside the hotel, no chance to relax. Some things are rather old, such as the furniture, though everything is very clean. Some processes could be more flexible (e.g. couldn't get extra tea bags for the room, couldn't settle the bill the the evening before leaving early the next morning). This said, we were happy with our stay as it was clean, comfortable and had helpful staff.

Lovely smart hotel. Staff exceptional. Helpful, polite and always available. Great welcome on arrival. Concierge team brilliant. Restaurant excellent. Great breakfast choice and plentiful. Evening meals lovely and very fairly priced. Pool facility and changing very good, although in need of some small improvements (pointing around pool edge is poor, no swimwear drying facility available). Location excellent and safe. Well placed for city sights and to access the walls. An excellent stay. Professionally ran hotel.

Minor improvements would improve the experience. Not major, but some decorative improvements were needed in my room.

This new stay at the Sofitel Xi'an was once again a pleasure. The rooms are spacious, elegant and well equipped. The cleanliness is perfect. The breakfast is always wonderful. The only criticism is that the pastries are not fresh (dry and hard).

For breakfast: Scrambled eggs or omelettes should be included. The staff are too present... you start to serve yourself and place the dishes on your table and continue to browse the buffet, but when you return to your place what you have laid out has already been removed. This has happened several times and is very annoying.

As it was October, the aircon was off. I'd expect that in a 5* hotel, the aircon will be switched on so the customer could decide which temperature they'd like to have in their room. A ventilator was supplied, which made the temperature in the room more livable.

Good location (though not perfect if you’re looking for true full tourist experience). Rooms are massive and clean. Great staff - super friendly and helpful in recommending places to visit and eat and best methods of transportation.

Hotel is a little dated and could use a little property improvement program to update finishes and furniture.

Pretty good location and comfy rooms. I would say it is a good choice for non-Chinese travelers (as English-speaking staff is at your service). Walking distance from subway station and with a bit of a stretch to all major landmarks in the city center as well.

Breakfast is so-so like everywhere in China. Overpriced hotel facilities.

The hotel was definitely value for money! We only stayed for one night but wished we could have stayed longer, and if given the chance, we would have booked this place again! We got a free upgrade to a suite and it was lovely! We had a very late check-in which was no problem at all and the staff was very friendly.

The bedroom was designed in such a way that when we closed the bedroom door it locked us in. It's a sliding door, and when closed, the space it left behind was blocked by the luggage rack which unfolded. It took 20mins to get us out and we had to get to a very important appointment. It was an unfortunate accident which could have been avoided.

Enjoyed my stay, comfortable, clean hotel with good facilities & good food. Centrally located, close to metro, attractions, restaurants, shopping etc. Staff were very friendly, welcoming & try their best to help even though I didn’t speak any Chinese.

We spent 2 nights with 2 kids and the room was big enough to include an extra bed for my 5yo boy. Breakfast was great with lots of choices and the hotel is well located to visit the city center.

The swimming pool installations were a bit old, but good enough to enjoy it after a whole walking day.

The staff at the reception were very friendly and helpful. I was travelling with my family, so we booked 3 rooms together. Jack and Sophia at the reception were very considerate. They made sure my family have a lovely stay there.
