Courtyard by Marriott San Jose Airport Alajuela

This hotel was conveniently located at 5 minutes from San Jose airport. It is also in close proximity of the freeway, which is convenient when travelling in and out of the city, but far enough to not be bothered by the noise. We stayed for 2 nights (at our arrival in Costa Rica and at our departure of Costa Rica). Both times we were very happy with our stay. Check-in was easy and fast. All the staff we have encountered was always very friendly and kind. We had free parking with a 24/7 guard. Our room was big enough for the stay, with a Queen bed, desk, TV, ironing board, and some complimentary tea/coffee. Waters were at an extra charge. The bathroom was spacious and the overall room was very clean. Rooms were very quiet. We had in-room dinner, and staff was amazing. Food was available until 11 pm which is a great bonus, and there are also snacks and premade meals at the reception if needed, which was very convenient. We also had breakfast included in our stay, and we enjoyed the diversity of what was offered; from eggs, to waffles, fresh juices, fresh fruit, yogurt... Definitely enough to make everyone happy. While dinner was ok (a little tasteless), breakfast was really good. Wi-Fi worked great throughout the hotel. We can definitely recommend this hotel for any couples or families traveling to San Jose.

Good hotel. Good breakfast buffet in mornings. Helpful, friendly staff. Good and frequent free airport shuttle. Conveniently located, close to airport, off main street, located on pretty quiet side street, right next to Walmart if you need to buy trip supplies or snacks/drinks or anything else. Hotel right next door is also associated with this hotel so you can eat at the restaurant in the other hotel and charge the meal to your room. Good ice machine.

The only issue was the chairs in the next rooms scraping along the floors when people would sit down or move the chair, it was crazy loud and echoed, so perhaps some pads on the bottoms of the chair legs would help remedy that issue.

I have stayed here several times before. This time I thought the front desk staff were less professional than during previous visits.

I contacted the property several times to let them know that my connecting flights to SJO were being delayed in Houston. No responses. I called from SJO 3x asking if the shuttle was still running at 1:30 and I got no answer to any of my calls--just ring, ring, ring. So I took a cab to the hotel and I checked with the front desk person and showed them the number that I had just called and confirmed that was the number to the hotel. She had no idea why I had not received an answer Furthermore, the shuttle had stopped running and I should have had a response earlier when I was in contact from Houston regarding my later arrival. Great Facility; very poor communication and therefor a lower score for the staff.

Travelling and only needed a room for a night that was close to airport. Usually stay at the Holiday Inn or Hampton but this hotel is just as close and more economical. It was very clean, service was great and beds comfortable. We arrived before check-in but there was no problem with them storing our luggage in a secure room which was great! Breakfast buffet was included and it was very sufficient with numerous options to choose from (the standard hotel buffet)

We arrived early for check-in and decided to pay and eat breakfast at the hotel before heading out on some touring. The price for the breakfast buffet was outrageously high ($50.90 Canadian -it's the same breakfast that is included in your room booking). Would not recommend eating breakfast here unless it's the free included one.

This is a really nice and affordable hotel when flying into San Jose. They run the free airport shuttle every half hour and the hotel is only 5 minutes from the airport. The breakfast is very good with hot food options, fruit, and juice. We flew in late so we just hopped on the shuttle to the hotel and stayed the night. In the morning they took us back to the airport and dropped us off right and the rental car desk. That made starting out our trip so nice! The lobby is really nice and the staff were so helpful to go online to purchase our ferry pass that leaves from Puntarenas. ****I would also like to point out that management was very accommodating when they did not charge us for being 3 days late due to a massive ice storm in the US.

We stayed at Fairfield purely for the location and included regular shuttle. This is our 3rd time staying a night before or after a flight at San Jose Airport and I finally caved and stayed with an American hotel chain. It was very clean and the staff were very nice. Included breakfast was decent but classic buffet continental, it did the job. The 5min proximity to the airport is key.

The bed was pretty uncomfortable and we could hear a bit of noise. We travel with a white noise machine and could still hear people running around and dropping things above us, doors closing in the hallway both late at night and in the morning. That being said, we'd still stay here again due to the close proximity to the airport (and the fact that we were there for maybe..12h between flights).

Clean, comfortable, efficient, modern airport hotel. No surprises, could be anywhere. Free breakfast and airport shuttle. A few restaurants next door, including a good taco joint. I like the bedside clock with a clear indication the alarm is *off*.

I don't need to unwrap a bar of soap for a one night stay and waste 99% of it. Provide a pump bottle please. (I used a squirt of shampoo to wash the hands.) Maybe I'm dense, but it took a while to find all the light switches. A single switch on the wall would be ideal. Who has the time to learn the intricacies of a one-night room? Rainfall shower is more of a fog machine (water saving), but it works.

the Fairfield hotel was really convenient stop for a 2 days after a long drive from Nosara before a long flight home. it had a complementary laundry service and airport shuttle. friendly helpful staff and a lovely shopping mall within 10 minute walking distance. beautiful landscape views surrounding the hotel. the bar/restaurant had some lively alcohol free drinks prepared by the mixologist Wilberto who was really friendly, attentive and considerate. the room was cleaned promptly by Silvia who always checked if anything was needed.

there was an airport shuttle that was relatively easy to find and catch, there was a delay in my booking showing up in their system but they made me feel very comfortable and welcome while waiting. The food was good, the breakfast buffet by Doña Carmen was fabulous with all of the homemade baked good and little touches, the Gallo pinto was on point and the service was excellent! It has been a very long time that I have been in an establishment that everybody that works there seems happy to be there, and that reflected a lot in their customer service! They were so kind! Highly recommended and I will definitely be back!

The only problem I had with this property was that my booking reservation did not show up until around 2 AM, which has never happened before so it must’ve been a glitch in the system but the property managers handled everything very well and gave me the same price as my booking reservation. They also made sure to write booking.com and make sure I was not going to be charged twice. Besides that little glitch my stay was fabulous I can’t rave about all of the staff members enough! I was very impressed.

I chose to stay here because I wanted to get a good night's sleep before heading to the airport the next morning. That is exactly what I got. The hotel staff are welcoming and accommodating. Rooms are clean and comfortable, loved the bed. Breakfast in the morning is all you can eat with a variety of options. Complimentary shuttle to and from the airport.

I've tried many different gallo pintos, and the one served at breakfast wasn't my favorite. That being said, food is a personal preference! And breakfast was a full buffet, something for everyone. Breakfast was still delicious overall.
