Berkeley Hotel & Day Spa

The hotel is situated less than a 5 minute walk from the ferry port. The bus ride to Old Town is about 10 minutes. The hotel can arrange transportation from the airport for an additional charge payable to the hotel, NOT the driver. I emphasize this because we paid the driver directly who once she realized that what we had given her was much more than a tip, promptly (within 10 minutes) called and retuned the cost less the tip to me. We stayed 5 nights in room 33 which was a Double Room with a Balcony and Sea View. The room was large even by US standards, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel and the rooms were clean and well maintained. I would describe the hotel as a boutique hotel with an intimate feel where the staff gets to know you by name and remember and cater to your specific needs, like how you like your toast, coffee, or bacon. The breakfast is a combination of buffet and order service. Some items such as fruits, cereals, deli meats, cheese, and juices are served buffet style. Other items such as coffee, tea, cooked meats, and eggs are made to order. The food was delicious and plentiful. What sets this hotel apart is superior service. Most of the staff here is not set in defined roles. If you go to the lobby and ask for ice, the person behind the desk does not say “I am the desk person not the kitchen staff”, they get the ice for you. The person you see at breakfast may later be one of the people refreshing the rooms. What this means for you as the guest is that the buck is never passed. No matter who you ask for something, you are never told you have to wait because what you want is not in their job description. The staff is extremely friendly. We felt like we were guest at one of our relatives’ house. It was truly service with a smile, not out of obligation, but done with a genuine warmth that you could feel and sense. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say, if you are in Dubrovnik, this is where you want to stay.

The Berkeley hotel was perfect for our stay in Dubrovnik. Lovely spacious room that was spotlessly clean. The pool area was great to relax after a day exploring. Breakfast had lots of options with a good selection of hot and cold food. What makes this hotel great is the staff - nothing is too much trouble. Kasim and the reception staff were incredibly friendly and always on hand with local knowledge and Mirijana and the ladies who served breakfast were did a fabulous job. We arrived on a catamaran from Korcula so there was only a short walk from the port with our luggage. It’s also walkable to get to Dubrovnik old town but there is a bus stop right outside the hotel which takes you all the way if you don’t want to walk. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

We arrived off the ferry from Korcula and the hotel was only a 10 minute walk from the port - we are met by very friendly staff and were upgraded to a beautiful room overlooking the sea. First thing we did was take a dip in the pool as we were so hot. There is an honesty bar beside it with soft drinks and beer which we availed of. We spent 3 nights here - the room was fab, the breakfast was lovely - cereals, fruit, juices, cheeses, meats and an option for a hot breakfast also - cooked to order. The pool was a lovely break from the busyness of the City. Location wise, it;s near the port and very handy for ferries to and from the islands. We also spotted boats doing tours to the islands so a good area away from the city. The hotel doesn't do dinner but there are a range of restaurants down the steps along the front. Our favourite was Buon Appetit which has a special every day and great wine. The buses into the city run very regularly - Pile is the destination to the Old Town. Buses 1A, 1B and I think 3. We bought a 300 kuna card for 3 days from reception which included the Walls of Dubrovnik walls and entry to a range of museums. Walls alone is 200 kuna so worth it for us. The card also included 6 bus trips. Bus station also close by from where we took bus to the airport (Platanus is the company). Great hotel - great staff - great facilities and we will hopefully be back. Oh yes - the tv has a casting option so you can cast Netflix or whatever from your phone.

Breakfast was wonderful. Nothing too much trouble. Lovely coffee . Bananas were bought in especially for us.

Perhaps shade umbrellas at the pool.

The greatest rewards of travel are finding hidden gems like the Berkeley Hotel & Spa. Preferring to stay away from the noise and crowds of Old Town, we booked close to the ferry terminal which was a short 5 minute walk after arriving from Bari. We booked an extra night just to have a shower in the early morning after our long ferry journey. The hotel was kind enough to offer the room for a fraction of the price and to upgrade us to a top floor room with a balcony and a stunning view. The hotel staff was personable, engaging and accommodating, which made the stay much more of a B&B experience than a public hotel. Miljana was especially kind and made our trip so much more rewarding. Breakfast was outstanding and the perfect way to start the day. Old Town is just short taxi ride away with the taxi stand only 3 minutes walk from the hotel. Avoid the buses and the crowds and relax in a modern hotel with all the amenities. Do yourself a favour and book your stay in Dubrovnik here. You will be SO glad you did!

As with everything in Dubrovnik, climbing some sort of incline is involved in getting to the hotel with your bags from the port as well as up and down the stairs to catch a taxi, eat dinner, etc. The approach provided by the hotel with your luggage from the port is very accessible, even with big roller bags. Just be prepared for a full city block steady incline to reach the street above right alongside the Red History Museum.

Breakfast was excellent and the staff were excellent. The room I had as a single was off the pool and was quiet. Bed comfortable, shower and bathroom were modern. Disappointed I could not buy the Ritual products in the Spa though. They were lovely!

The location was perfect for Ferry Access walking down the hill via the narrow walking streets. However, if travellers want walking distance to old town it is about a 30-40 minute walk. I did it a couple of times but that distance may not be for everyone. 7 minute cab to Pile Gate is perfect.

it was close to the harbour. exceptionally clean, booking in and out simple. staff excellent and very helpful and obliging,breakfast was great cooked fresh.and served with a smile .

There was nothing I didn’t like about the property other than the fact for us as having walking difficulties the hill that we had to walk close to the property was very steep.

Heavy noise from 7.00 till 17.00 from the opposite building sites.I got a room with a sea view and at the side of building site.I had a big problem with these noisy works and the staff moved me to another even better quiet room .That was the only problems I faced with.

We needed one night at a hotel close to Gruz Harbor and the Berkeley proved to be perfect. A few meters down the street from the hotel is a flight of stairs (look for Radnicka Ul. on google maps) that takes you down to the harbor. The hotel is comfortable, clean, modern and very quiet. Staff is very welcoming and professional. Room was larger than expected and well layed out. Wifi was fast, beds VERY comfortable, shower was large with good pressure and breakfast was very good. We hit a home run by choosing this hotel and highly recommend it if you are in need of a hotel near the harbor.

Me and my friends had an amazing stay at the Berkeley. Everything was great. The customer service and kindness of the staff are unmatched. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure our stay runs smooth. Breakfast was great, the location was perfect as just a short drive from the Old Town and the facilities and cleanliness were spot on. Definitely recommend and will definitely return. Big thank you to all the staff who looked after us.

Shame they only serve breakfast.
