Hôtel Grand Monarque

We are a family with two children (12 and 10 yrs old). We stayed for 5 nights at two double rooms. Rooms are very comfortable (beds were extremely comfortable) and very clean with pleasant design. we had a nice breakfast. we used the property parking offered in a very descent price. And not less important, the staff and especially Eric were very kind and helpful - providing us with lots of info about restaurants (and booking for us) and the surrounding points of interest. Azay-le-Rideau is a nice small town/village with some good restaurants near the hotel. I would say there are many attractions with a reasonable drive around (up to 1 hour) Thank you for enjoying vacation.

Our room, at the lower end of the price range, was spacious and well equipped, featuring some older furniture as well as modern. It was very quiet, despite the town being very busy with a night street fair... Parking was in a secure location very close to the hotel, and we were met there by the receptionist, before being able to access it with our room card. The hotel has been very carefully restored, with older features sitting comfortably alongside very modern facilities (check out the glorious stairs - beautifully designed and made!). The hotel has lots of space, including a large courtyard area where you can sit, with breakfast served in a spacious dining room. We are often disappointed by breakfast options in France, but here they were very good. There are some light dining options but there are great restaurants a very short stroll away: we ate in the marvellous L'Epine which is just across the square.

Honestly, nothing.

The place was excellent, their staff members were incredible. I highly recommend it, I couldn't stay longer but there are some nice shops around the area. The breakfast was lovely and the room was really spacious and clean. I highly recommend it!

I wish I could have been able to park inside the property but I arrived late so I am unsure if I could have arranged if I would have arrived earlier.

Charming hotel, recently refurbished, welcoming staff. Nice bar area and excellent breakfast. Off-street secure parking. Enchanting town with lots to see, including the beautiful château at Azay-le-Rideau. Great location to then visit other châteaux nearby, including the beautiful gardens at Villandry.

No restaurant, but there are many options in town. However, you must book in advance - we hadn't so were left with only a poor choice.

Location was absolutely excellent - in a little town, with a fabulous Loire chateau just easy walking distance. The place, although quite old, had been beautifully modernized (with a nice elevator) without loss of character. The staff were extremely helpful and considerate. Breakfast was a bit expensive, but very plentiful, so we didn't need lunch!! My wife just loved the place, and hopes we can go back for a longer period of time (so do I!).

We were just sorry we couldn't have stayed longer! My other regret - if everyone praises the place like we have, they will probably raise the prices so much that we won't be able to afford to stay there again!

One of the best places we've stayed...professional and friendly reception, the room was well-done and lovely with stone walls and chandelier sconces. Very convenient and large parking space across the street. Breakfast was nice too. Location was excellent, a very short walk to cafés, restaurants and shops.

Perfect perfect perfect. Super atmospheric town and hotel, with all in walkable distance, chateau, shops. The welcome was just right, relaxed but informative. The rooms were immaculate and comfortable. Breakfast included all options, continental to simple cooked, without the unnecessary baked beans and hash browns. Couldn’t fault it.

Ummmmm . Nothing

On arrival, it was clear that the hotel not only were expecting me, but realised I had stayed before some 3 months earlier - so was greeted with a "welcome back". This is a very powerful greeting, and shows a hotel which values their guests. Great rooms, pleasing public spaces, lovely design features in this refurbished old hotel.

The hotel is smack in the centre of Azay le Rideau, steps from the chateau, and very close to several nice restaurants. It has lots of atmosphere. The room was bright. clean and spacious. It also had secure parking just across the street.

Not much really. The breakfast was ok, not spectacular and there is a lovely little lounge area, but it doesn't seem to be used. But this is quibbling. It is a lovely hotel for a day or two in Azay.

Nothing. Only negative feeling was that the hotel did not live up to its grand photograph. However, that did not matter as, once inside the building, it was absolutely charming and full of character.
