ibis Besançon Centre Ville

Room was excellent. Breakfast was good but not great. Location is excellent, right in the city centre, just inside the old town - not far from main station, close to main sights. Staff were very helpful, very friendly.

Breakfast was very good but could just use a reworking of plate/bowl size mostly. There's two fountains outside that can be a bit noisy early in the morning, nothing major, water is a nice sound anyway. Room layout could be a little bit better - at least in my opinion, anyway - but there was plenty of space in the room.

The shower. This is the reason I bothered writing this review - the shower. I mean, how hard can it be to have a shower that is easy and intuitive to use, that provides both hand and top showerheads, that reacts quickly to changes in temperature and that has a convenient shelf for shampoo? And yet these guys have it, and almost any other hotel I've been too - doesn't. Kudos. Other than that, it's a regular chain hotel, although the loby is better decorated than other hotels of this chain.

The room was not very big but ok for 2. The bed was confortable. The design of the room was very nice. The interior parking is a very good option and the price is reasonable.

The access to the parking is done via a very narrow arch so if you have a big car this is one thing to be aware of. The worst feature was the lack of phonic isolation of the room. We could clearly hear all the noise from inside the hotel as well from the outside. Unfortunately for us during our 1 night stay there was a group of people outside that partied/screamed/fought most of the night on the street nearby.

The Ibis is well situated, being easy to access by road yet a short walk from the restaurants in the old town. We were cycling, exploring the Doubs and Loue river valleys and found it easy to cycle out of town on the riverside cycle tracks. The staff were very friendly and super helpful. Everything was very clean, beds comfy and the shower decent. the off-street parking was appreciated and there was even a secure cycle store.

Nothing.

Staff was very pleasant, rooms very clean, breakfast very copious and varied ( but not much fresh fruits). Great location, very close to city center as advertised, walking distance to many monuments and many good restaurants. Closed parking for car (but limited availability, make sure you reserve in advance)

This was one of many IBIS, perfectly predictable (which in itself is a good quality!). Nothing exceptional, very spartan and essential rooms. Good quality for money. Shower head needed a little repair.

The hotel is well situated, close to everything (short tram ride from the train station Viotte and walking distance from all the shops). The neighborhood is really calm. The staff is absolutely amazing !! They were warm, welcoming, polite and eager to help. I needed an iron to sort out my dress, in order to attend a soirée with my companion, and, after exchanging message with the staff, I was informed, upon checking in, that the iron had been put in my room. Attentions like theses are highly appreciated. The room was clean and the bed really comfortable. It’s also nice to say that the room was very quiet as no sounds were heard from the corridor, from outside or from above the room. The breakfast buffet was well garnished and heaps of choices were available, from cereals to baguettes, croissants and yogurts. There was also a large choice of beverages, from all sorts of teas to different coffee possibilities as well as hot chocolate. There’s no doubt in my mind that, next time I’ll be in Besançon, I’ll stay at this hotel again.

Only drawback, for me and it’s a very personal matter, is the green light from the heating/cooling device. I am very sensitive to brightness and it literally lit up the room during the night. I woke up many times when facing that way because the room was “illuminated”. But again, that’s highly personal. It didn’t bother my companion at all.

Excellent location near the old town center with most tourist attractions in walking distance. Very helpful staff. We opted for car parking for days 2 and 3 because 8 Euro is very good value for a very central location in Besançon (right outside the trafrfic restricted area). Very good interent connection. We will be back!

A small shelf to put some luggage or equipment would have been be great while sitting at the desk with two laptops. Space in the wardrobe was limited du to the two exra cussions which we didn't use. You could provide those on demand only thus making space for more belongings of your guests - just a suggestion, not a complaint!

The room was relatively spacious, the bed very comfortable and it was really quiet. I also appreciated the secure carpark which meant I didn't have to worry about the car for the duration of my stay (but you did have to pay a small daily fee for this). The location was great - close to shops, cafés, restaurant, cinema, museums and a park and river walkway.

The breakfast was a bit disappointing - not much choice as regards bread and if you weren't there early, there was hardly any left. There was only one coffee machine which was very slow, so there was a long queue for this on the Sunday morning. As for the room, there was a lack of drawers and there was no kettle, although I was lent one upon request.

Excellent location and staff were super friendly and welcoming. The hotel is modern, comfortable and pet-friendly with free Wi-Fi and limited secure on-site parking (for a fee). The breakfast was excellent for the price and the beds were very comfy. I'd gladly go back.

The pressure in the shower on the first floor was very weak. That's all.

The whole stay there I liked very much a very nice hotel in a good location on the outskirts of the city center. Very easy to reach by car with its own car park I had my dog with me that was no problem at all. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. If I am in the area again, this hotel will be my first choice.

I didn't notice any negative points.
