Château de Lacan

A very brief pitstop on our journey; the place is quite opulent. Nice welcome on arrival, good room (once we'd figured out which switch worked which lights), quiet & peaceful - which is the top priority after a long day's driving. Satnav ( or at least our satnav) takes you to a couple of streets away initially. You are in a suburban housing estate which is presumably built on land once belonging to the chateau.

The modest petit-dejeuner was expensive for what it was (30 euros for two. Perfectly pleasant offering, but not much of it.

The owners have gone to a lot of work to transform this fantastic ancient castle into very comfortable and modern - but not so modern that they lost the character - accommodation. Our son will be visiting France next year with his family, and we have already recommended this hotel. The owners gave us a GREAT recommendation for dinner - in fact, booked for us - and dinner was very reasonably priced.

I cannot think of anything to complain about.

So welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. The room was fantastic and luxurious. The hosts went out of there way to help make our one night stay comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with superb bread. Recommend highly. A beautiful hotel in a good location and easy to find. A very friendly chicken who likes to visit for breakfast and makes very good eggs.

Nothing to not like

Room was very comfortable, breakfast was extensive on a lovely terrace. Hosts were extremely helpful in recommending local restaurants. General grounds were very relaxing.

A little out of town so needed to drive to go to a restaurant for dinner

lovely aircon rooms. very helpful manager (owner?) who let us check in early. I suppose the chateau used to own a vast amount of land - now it’s in the middle of a housing development. but it still felt very rural and peaceful.

Nothing - it was ideal.

I liked the location and easy parking, though not secure The owner was exceptionally helpful, arranged our COVID tests nearby for us and gave us details of the restaurant that was open (Sunday night places in France close early and very few are open)

A lovely big bright bathroom but no hand rail in the bath,which made it very difficult for getting in and out. It was only a hand held shower so not very easy to use especially trying to wash ones hair etc.

During covid, everything is more difficult but the owners at Chateau Lacan went out of their way to ensure we had a lovely stay. Some facilities were, of course, not available, but we had wonderful breakfasts and dinners-the food is excellent. Rooms are very comfortable, warm and a good size. Wifi is good. The Chateau is very near Brive town and you can walk if you don't mind hills. The owners are very courteous and go out of their way to assist and make you feel comfortable. We travel most of the year and have stayed in many hotels, even during covid but this is definitely one of the top recommendations.

Absolutely nothing.

Lovely hotel. Terrific modern decor in a charming old chateau. The Hosts are terrific and really care that you are happy with your stay. Some good restaurants close by. We will return for a longer break next time.

Owner is very friendly and goes out of his way to help you. Hotel is very clean. Very well maintained historic site. Free parking. Quiet location. Modern, well equipped rooms.

Breakfast is a bit expensive, considering what they serve.

Beautiful modern, tasteful and comfortable room with great facilities such as mini bar, nespresso etc. Lovely and warm which was nice as it was cold outside. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Location was a little quiet but all I needed was a room passing through the area so it was ideal
