Best Western Royal Hotel Caen

The hotel was centrally located in Caen and was a short walk to the castle and to old town. We were 2 grandparents plus a family of 3 and we were able to get adjoining rooms, one with a balcony, at the front of the hotel. There was an elevator and the rooms were very quiet and came with air conditioning. We picked up our rental cars the morning we left so we didn’t need to worry about parking. However, I did notice there was an underground parkade across the street. The tram can be taken from near the train station and it will drop you a few blocks from the hotel. Or you could take a cab from the station for a reasonable rate as we did. The rooms were very modern and the beds were very comfortable. The gentleman on the front desk was both thoughtful and helpful. There were many places to eat and shop within walking distance of the hotel. Breakfast was available at the hotel but we didn’t partake as we wanted to hit the road early. There was however a plate of croissants placed in the lobby for guests to help themselves to when they left. I would definitely recommend the Best Western Royal Hotel Caen for a one or multi-night stay!

There was not one thing we didn’t like about the hotel.

Hotel is really centrally located, not far from the shopping street and the sights, such as the tomb of William the Conqueror. The breakfast was rich and as you would expect in France... fresh baguettes and croissants. Car park is directly opposite the hotel below the central square. The parking garage is directly across from the hotel, below the central square. Before entering, you have to report to the reception to get the reduced price (-3 euros). Traffic noise was present but not disturbing or overly loud.... so very good windows. Hotel room and bathroom were very clean and spacious. We had dinner in the restaurant right next to the hotel, which is also highly recommended.

The location of the hotel was fantastic and so central to the shopping precinct of Caen. We loved having the small balcony to look over the streets and district below. Both the bed and room was large and very comfortable, and the room was quiet from any noise from the restaurant below. We enjoyed all the facilities of the hotel - a good value breakfast and handy room service for dining in. The late check out was great too.

Nothing - everything was good.

We really loved this hotel. Very centrally located and lots of walking areas around the hotel to restaurants and bars. We stayed 2 nights and went from here to WW11 sites with a tour. Parking is underground and across the street. You can get a discount through the hotel but reserve ahead of time with them. There was also a laundry mat a couple blocks away, which was nice. We got a room with balcony which was nice but not sure worth the extra $.

Location of the hotel was fantastic allowing easy access to the main tourist attractions of Caen. It was also very central for access to the bars and restaurants of the old town. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and were able to answer all of our questions. The rooms were very comfortable and well equipped, including air conditioning. Breakfast was basic but good quality and fresh.

The rooms were comfortable and well equipped however they were small with minimal wardrobe space. The rooms on the rear of the hotel were dark, shaded by the proximity of the next building. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room were limited to one disposable cup per person per day.

Location super, very clean, professional staff who were helpful and friendly. Rooms overlooking the square were spacious - interconnecting for a family of five worked very well. Parking opposite. Ideal for overnight stay and to explore Caen. Merci beaucoup!

Pillows!

Location is excellent. Cafes and restaurants were very close. transportation was very easy. It was within walking distance of attractions. It was very safe and clean. The staff at the reception were very kind. We were very satisfied.

Great location. Friendly staff. Breakfast was good.

Room smelled of fresh paint. Had to be aired out before bed each night. Located on a large square which added some noise. Shower head was really low, I am tall but it was mid chest for me.

Excellent location. Secure car park bang across the road. Very clean and comfortable.

The room was a rather small and overlooking the back 'courtyard' with the noise of air conditioning units of adjacent businesses and apartments.

Great location, clean comfortable room, parking nearby and the hotel provides a 3 day parking ticket for 45 euros, friendly and helpful staff

Breakfast- souless room with a huge TV on very loud, food was OK but definitely not good value for money and very poor quality for a 4* hotel
